@JOHNCONNELLPEDOGROUP don't judge him with your modern standard about thr ill of smoking he was a movie star of the 60's and 70's when smoking was not seen as bad as it is today
Steve McQueen.. Coolest guy ever. Think of all the fun he must've had doing his own stunts.. Actors today worry they might twist an ankle if they have to jump one feet down. Steve wouldn't have thought twice about it if he had to jump ten feet :) He would've gone right for it !! Where are the tough ones today? Being animated in a computer :p Thanks for sharing btw..
Mcqueen will never die the man lived two lifetimes in one......not to mention the legacy he left all of us and he was a brave man unlike most of the "clothes hangers" we have onscreen nowadays.
By the way I think Mark Wahlberg would be the best McQueen because Steve was extremely hard-edged in real life, and so is Wahlberg when he wants to be. Pitt and Wahlberg have a fantastic physique, which they will need to play Steve, who was an amazing physical specimen to the day he died.
There's a Steve McQueen bio movie in the works based on the book "Steve McQueen, Portrait of an American Rebel" by author Marshall Terrill. Buy the book and be ready because the movie will be incredible!
nice choice of music, I was born 16 aftr his death and I love the great escape. seemed like an awesome actor first time i saw him. Shame how we went out. At least it wasn't as dramatic as Michael Jackson
@1CATALDO Granted, his smoking didn't make him healthier but the official cause of death was from Mesothelioma, a cancer caused from exposure to asbestos..........even my own father died at just 54 from Emphysema without ever smoking a cigarette, however, I imagine both were probably counted within that number to keep the propaganda against tabacco appear all the more damning, if not entirely true
...and the asbestos thing was throughout his life, from stripping military vehicles in the marines to the lining of his protective gear when racing. The stuff seemed to follow him around his whole life.
Steve Mc Queen worked for years in the big sound stages in L.A./ Hollywood. asbestos was used for sound proofing and other purposes. it wasnt until the early 70's that we began to understand the threat of asbestos and its relationship
to cancer. that more than his love of bikes and cars played a greater role in his development of cancer. yea the sound stages were just full of asbestos!
Nelle Mcqueen and Ali Mcgraw what 2 fine piece of asses they were!!!!!!!(and still are!) You know that Natalie Wood (hottie) once threw herself at steve and wanted him in the sack soo bad and steve said no!! HOW COOL IS HE! HE could (and did) have anygirl he wanted RIP BUDDY!
you are so f'in right! I'd like to slap down the lil' punks. Remember when if you were like James West ( BEFORE he had to be a negro), you were..( a word you don't/can't use or find anymore - "manly". Will Smith is a nice guy, but why can't we have a white hero anymore?
When I watch films with McQueen / Brando / Eastwood / K.Douglas / Heston / Burton, ect...it reminds me of how we are not even men anymore, what hapened to us? We need to reclaim what we lost...r.i.p....McQueen, you raised a bar we all aspire to.
I couldn't agree more! Think of today's "stars"...Tom Crise...Brad Pitt...Johnny Depp...they are all litle boys compared to the real men of the past cinema. When the stars of the past were in their 30's they were more mature and manly to those in their 40's today.
