aaaaaaaaaam its widely accepted that mutations form new genes translocation and cross over mutations although 99.9999% of mutations are null but they do cause new traits i call BULLSHIT on you
We can cause resistance to evolve by spontaneous mutation in bacteria. The good doctor doesn't even understand bacterial cell culture and mutagenesis.
He is being dishonest throughout the lecture but especially near the end when he twists the facts from the National Geographics article. He quotes the article of saying something like: natural selection uses pre-existing mutations.
He then goes to say (and im paraphrasing): See. The mutations arent new. They were already there...
The mutations weren't new AT THE TIME OF THE NATURAL SELECTION PROCESS. They were new at the point of mutation.
Lets see. He admits that Natural Selection is true. Which is one of the main mechanisms of evolution. He then says...
2:55 - "That's true. Germs can really change there DNA quickly."
He also admits that they can mutate...but that the mutations are 'usually' bad and cause the microbes to die. Remember, 'usually' doesnt mean 'always'. Good mutations only need to be a fraction of the percent of all mutations to enable the evolutionary process.
