We can't answer for palin, but our guess is that she was always uncomfortable with something in her life, like a Diva would be. She seems like a prima donna to us. Obviously she is hyper-reactive and unbalanced now, but we can only assume that she's honed those emotions, rather than lost them, or toned them down.
