i have a single gpu hd 4850 and i run cod 4 and 5 on max settings with aa and still get over 100 frames alot of the time

Trust me, it does. Use the flamethrower or look into the explosion of an artillery strike and you will see it drop to ~40.

Yeah, I have a HD4890 with a worse proccesor than you and I always have it vsync capped unless there's alot of fire and explosions where it might drop to 40.
