@artilleryisbetter its gonna be a tropical depression 75% chance im not as worried as you but theere is still a chance of it getting stronger as it comes over NJ
Picture John Hope today broadcasting with all the new technology. I lived in Nassau, NY when Gloria hit. Mother nature is exciting to me, so I headed south and arrived on the beach (West End 2). Ten other explorers and myself could barely stand the sand stinging your skin. The waves had covered most of the 80 foot beach, spraying their fury with sand upon all that was near. On the way home, the police had closed the parkway south. I was lucky to experience this rage of nature!
Thanks for posting this. I'm from RI and remember preparing for Gloria's wrath. Thankfully it weakened as it rumbled up the East Coast toward New England. We didn't receive any rain with this system. I remember standing outside during Gloria's gusty arrival and commenting with my family about how there was no rain but a definite salty smell in the air. We lost power for several hours. Strange how badly organized it was at the start and then cranked up into a cat 4 monster before weakening.
I was 6 years old when Hurricane Gloria hit and I remember it as if it were yesterday instead of 24 years ago. I was in Brooklyn, NY and I remember how much it rained and how dark it was the morning it hit. I remember asking my mother why she didn't wake me up for school and she told me because it was closed. I also remember my sister and I complaining that there were no cartoons on that day, just the news.
Good stuff...I was only 6 when Gloria hit, and despite losing power for a week-and-1/2, we were able to get it back via our neighbors for the duration of the outage...and just seeing that "weatherproofing America" ID w/the lightning flashes again brings back memories. :-)
Heh i checked out you page, all bullshit about enlightement & higher "seeing"...
Fact is your grey matter is flawed, you want the reality of the situation.. it was September 1985... I am 15 years old, the VCR was broken by a cat knocking it off the shelf.. I used a Quasar Videocamera, I placed it on the marble table, leveled it with some books underneath & videotaped the broadcast of the weather channel on the television. What is the great illusion that occurs in 1:07 you supreme dolt!
It is clueless asses like you in the world that make me long to swallow a handful of broken glass!.. You are inane & senseless beyond measure, not worthy of a war of words & wits with me.. Go back to your mommy child you obviously were not born in the birth of the video-age.. You mindless blind fuck piss on you!
Lightworker? and there i though you were some kind of utility worker that might have experienced the hurricane.. dropped by your page to find out you are a bullshit conspiracy theory spitting-on-veterans hippy communist doper god-freak.. Away with you and all of your kind. Try sticking a flower in the barrel of my gun pothead!
lightworker77, go kill yourself you fucking hippy, there is no way this video is fake, it doesn't take a genius to figure that out (which you clearly aren't). Gloria was my first experience with a hurricane. I was five years old and living in Gardnier, Maine at the time. It was exciting for me to be riding out the storm at my grandmother's house. That's basically all I remember. But for a five year old, this was sort of fun. Not a direct hit where I was located, but I still remember it.
I think i remember some of this LOL

Gloria was a category 2 where I lived on the Mass/RI border. It was only a category 2 because the strongest part of Gloria tracked to the west.
