Music is just a means for expressing ideas. Are you saying that you don't think Christians should be able to express their ideas through metal? Among other things (like bigotry), that, taken to its logical conclusion, would mean obstructing freedom speech.

Personally I think we need more Christian bands in metal, because the mainstream Christian music deals with surface-level issues and pretty much nothing more. Most metal artists take music and lyrics pretty seriously.

That's absolutely false. Metal has never been against Christianity. Certain bands, yes, but the "Satanism" that some metal bands espouse isn't really Satanism at all; it's pulled straight out of H. P. Lovecraft's short stories. Lovecraft himself said that real Satanism is boring.

Case in point: Metallica has several songs that pull DIRECTLY from Lovecraft. The Call of Ktulu, The Thing that Should Not Be, and I'm sure plenty of others. The "evil" part of metal is just horror fiction.

Furthermore, being a Christian musician myself (and yes, I play metal), I can tell you that your picture of why people like me play metal is 100% off. The reason I play metal is...

1. I find it challenging

2. I find it much more expressive than most other genres

3. My ideas on Christianity don't fit into a fluffy-puff alternative rock setting

Notice that none of those included "selling out" or "pissing people off". If I wanted to sell out, I wouldn't go into metal, because it doesn't sell.

I myself do have my center of belief based in chrisianity and I also play metal, and the genre itself (no subgenres please) do hold a deeper possibility of expresion that can´t be found in more mainstream types of music, not saying pop is crap, but in my ears it is. I play both drums an guitar and yes both are very challeging to play metal on, but not only due to speed and such, since I belive the feeling still needs to be present in the riffs/beats

Someone I know mailed Virgin Black about it. They told her the picture was the last in row, and that there is a progression in the three pictures on the cd covers. It turns out the corpse on the cross here is the same woman we see on Mezzo Forte. I guess on Pianissimo we will see her in perfect condition or something like that.
