  • LOVE IT! FOV slider or something would help out though :D

  • Nice One!

  • Good job. How long did you learn Python to do this?

  • Dude thats good how long did it took you to buld it?

  • and who said python was a slow language?

  • if you want to improve your game or distribute it to earn some money use py2exe or cx_Freeze i have some more libararies which can improve the game !

  • hey its great! where i could get this game?

  • It's just like CSS! My fav game

  • The game reminds me of counterstrike

  • @zamliman

Hi! im making a game aswell and i was wondrring what you use in the empty slot! glTexParameterf(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, )

(i was using GL_NEAREST, but the ground far away look wierd and pixely)

hope you can help me! :D

  • What do the different numbers in your map do?

I only see one type of block, but I see some 8's and 2's in there as well

  • i have really no idea how that works, so please, release the source^^

  • did you use PyOpenGL to do this?

  • @xninjasFTWx I used pyggel and that uses pyopengl, but on my later videos i used pyopengl only

  • Wow! Can an interpreted language be this fast?! I've just started to look into python (being a Java, Obj-C, C programmer) and the language seems great. But I've been a little worried about the performance, but this demo really impresses me. Carry on with your great work :)

  • @dahDougieBoy Thank you but currently im working on a c++ version of it

  • So the hand isn't a 3d model, is there a very low polygon limit for python? I'm still very new to python so I'm trying to understand it's limits with 3d.

  • nice work! keep it up! your doing more than what most retards dream of.

  • Wow how long did it take u to make?? like im working with python atm ... and i had a previous year learning it.. but we kind did the basic stuff and such/ 2d games and all but nice...

  • @MikeyLew1 Cant remember but a couple of month maybe =)

  • WOOWWWW do any of you dumbfucks know how hard it is to right code for a 3d game? This is pretty fucking impressive you hating cunts, show some respect

  • @Inuyashafreak9494 Not with a good development engine it aint.

  • the walk sound is really annoying.

  • cool

  • looks like cs 1.6

  • broooooo way to copy from css bro

  • boooring

  • @bobsonenzo This isn't meant to be entertaining...

  • @zamliman make it fun

  • @bobsonenzo Still my current goal is to learn and improve my engine not to make it more fun ^^

  • Hey zamliman. You mentioned NeHe for learning. Does that site have any info about how to make something like a life bar that floats around a target? Lastly, does that site show you how to get an object to follow you under certain conditions? I'm talking about something like a very basic AI bot. The object/shape/enemy goes to you when your hit-points are low, but goes away when it's high. Thanks.

  • @bboyjkang Actually im really sorry for disappointing but I never looked into things like that but im sure there are people that has done similar things on other websites. try google it ^^

  • Great work

  • @Dejital Thanks =)

  • Nice, ive never done coding so I gotta start to learn it quick, im making a role playing game yours turned out fine except the whole jump button xD

  • @magemaniac33 Thanks dude, just wait to se my new engine =) (i hope) it will be kick ass ;D and good luck with your coding just remember to have patience and dont give up

  • @zamliman I never did code :P I went to Unreal Engine 3 :P Hope your doing good with coding sorry for late responce I got hacked :/

  • I hope I can get to that level.I just started learning python today and so far I've gotten

    print("Game Over")

    input("\n\nPress Enter key to exit")

so at least I can end a program and save it lol.

  • @DustinDosh Well you have to start somewhere ;D good luck

  • @DustinDosh Did you learn how to do that from the book 'Python Programming for the Absolute Beginner'? I just ordered it!

  • @xorganizationxvx Cant really remember i did read allot but during the time i did this project i didnt read anything, try to start simple, and build on that =)

  • like for counter-strike ;]

    good job!

  • Hey.

Hope your project is going smoothly.

    Just curious;

Did you look up or try Python-Ogre, the successor of PyOgre?

Python-Ogre is a Python binding for the OGRE 3D engine, providing the functionality and performance of OGRE (written in C++) with the accessibility and ease of use of Python.

You mentioned that Python didnt work well with OpenGL, but Ogre abstracts the details of using the underlying system libraries like Direct3D and OpenGL.

    Whats your opinion on Python-Ogre?

  • @bboyjkang It does sound epic :O sounds like something i will try someday =D right now im working in c++ instead of python the engine will be similar and maybe better, but i still miss python ;P

  • Nice...look like Counter Strike ;)

  • Yes this was made with python =)

i used libraries with it like pygame, pyopengl and other for things like maths and stuff.

its really good to start programming with python and then u can move up to c++ ^^ like im doin now xD

  • @zamliman I personally went up from C++ to Python, and PYgame, only working on 2D games now, but they're more point and click, not adventures... yet.

  • i

checked pythons website for a dowwnload of pyhton 3 and i couldnt find it can any1 help me?

  • @cowmasterbob

    Google Python

then under it click the "Download" hyperlink

    ----TechResource-----

    Subscribe :)

  • Note that this is old and right now im working on a new game thingy

It will be written in c++ using

    Directx as api

  • @zamliman how old are you? : )

  • @Dixtosa I am 16 in about one month ^^

  • @zamliman :D:D. little boy : ))

  • @Dixtosa haha yep

  • Mind if i can e a link to that tutorial as well?

  • @Shihonoryu im sorry but what tutorial ?

for pyopengl or pygame or python ?

  • @zamliman for example PyOpenGL

  • good stuff im learning python too still available for pm help?

  • yes just ask no problem!

  • can you tell me where to get started if i wanted to do something like this? I know most of the basics of python and i've been using it for a few years while in college. though we never go into 3d maps and things. so can you get me started on that? and do you know much about pygame?

  • wow this is impressive.

how long hav eyou been working on it?

  • about a half month i saved some time using a library that created the 3d objekt and the rest was made by me

  • wow that's impressive.

the tutorial link you gave that other guys is very good. its helping me a lot.

how long have you been coding in python?

hopefully one day i will be capable of this

  • actually started really hard and i didn't understand a thing

but after a while i started getting things,

i think i started about 4 month ago or more

good luck programming and if you need some help be free to pm me =D il be glad to help someone

  • Thank you^.^

It's always nice to have someone there incase I have a question.

Im using boston's tutorials (the one u linked), but are there any books that you might reccomend? (That way I might take a trip to the library for supplement resources)

  • actually there is alot of books out there but there is one that was great but i cant really remember the name, ill pm u it later when i remember

    aaand your welcome!

  • ty^.^

Lol that thenewboston guy is pretty good teaching. I dont' know how but everything he is doing is so easy for me to understand the way he explains it.

I remember when i was beginning c++. I can already do more in python than i could after a fwe weeks of c++ lol

  • yeah hes awesome =D oki i uploaded some books and going to pm u them but the thing is that there is one book i know is somewhere on my comp that was great but i cant find it ill see if i can find it later

  • okay thank you. You're awesome^^

  • Ok I have no clue how to import this program (if possible). I tried copying the set of numbers to the right directly to python but it did nothing.

  • Oh O.O you should serously learn some more ^^

here is a great tutorial that contains 45 or something episodes and after them there is a game development tutorials to. but watch the firts and learn then continue =)

    /watch?v=4Mf0h3HphEA
