If the metal implant corrodes into the tibia (which may take a few years), and that corrosion causes osteosarcoma, and the dog has to have his or her leg amputated, and the owner has to pay thousands of dollars for treatments that will not stop the cancer from taking the dog's life, who is responsible for these expenses? The vet, the owner, or the company who produced the implant?
Hi mams14, my Jack Russell just had it, she a bit overweight at 27 pounds... Forget about the water therapy! Waste of money! He will be listless for a few days but will walk out of the hospital later the same day on his three... in a week or two he will start toe-touching and putting some light pressure on the leg. Just be careful not to let him walk off the leash and chase something like a squirrel or a cat... Time will take care of the rest!
How painful and traumatic is the recover from anestetic after the surgery? How long does it take after surgery to stand up and move? My mini doberman Pinsher is having that surgery soon and I´m so scared of not being able to help him properly during recovering, I don´t want to see him suffer or in terrible pain. Can you give me some orientations please? Venezuela don´t have vet rehability centers like that, pitty. What should I do to help my dog after surgery and keep it calm and relaxed?
