People, particularly the ones talking about owning raccoons, please keep in mind that it is illegal to own a wild animal without a license from the government, and it's illegal to take a wild animal from it's natural habitat as well.
I am a veterinary nurse who specializes in wild animals. Raccoons are actually as harmless as your average dog or cat. Yes, maybe on some occasions Raccoon's can become snappy but, cant all animals??? Whether wild or not Raccoon's are there to survive just like the rest of us and when u think they are invading ur property, just remember it was their home first before it got destroyed and turned into Surburbia.
@lessnessZZ You should come visit South Dakota. They are all over the place here. Go explore some abandoned farmhouses and you will be sure to see a few. Oh and possums too, those things are too cute for words!
@ayajasminx raccoons, like most wild animals, do not appreciate captivity. They would not make a great pet because they would be miserable and would find creative ways to make you as equally miserable. ;)
@hafabee Actually, if you get them young enough they make great pets and can be domesticated. I had one, it used the kitty litter and ate cat food...and stole off our plates when we weren't looking. He'd go into the bathroom and flood it by putting the plug in the sink and turn on the water. His name was Rocky Raccoon, he was awesome.
@thatguyontheright1 haha, that sounds sweet, they are amazing animals. I suppose if you got one young enough, sure. I just think that undomesticated animals belong in the wild where they can be free, it's only humans that deny themselves that which we concede to butterflies.

I think I've read your posts before on some of the other raccoon clips here because that incident sounds familar. Did you upload a clip of your raccoon eating a birthday cake? I'm sorry you've been burdened by having such a horrible excuse for human beings as neighbours, I certainly hope you did something about them.
@hafabee Nah, we just left because they were making Meth, and the cops didn't do anything. We also left because there were Michigan Rattlers out in the field and we couldn't use the field as a result. I didn't have a camera at the time, so no vids of him.
They are great pets. They don't smell, they clean themselves like cats do, they have few health problems, they can be trained to use litter boxes, they're affectionate, they're fun to play with and they are good with other pets. They don't "stink" and they won't tear up your house if they have a space and toys of their own. They have the same chances of contracting rabies as anything else and they only get moody during their mating season (a month out of the year) but are usually amiable.
@dreadedcrow16 They are still wild animals though, often they get very aggressive and destructive when they get older. They are cute but do belong in the wild.
they will rip your house apart, can get into every thing so unles your willing to child proof your house from top to bottom and dant mind if your sofa gets torn abart and if you can put up with the smell then yah, they make great pets.

@hafabee we found ours under our porch after it collapsed. The mother died when it collapsed, and so did its siblings.
