If the guy was attacking and going for an officers' weapons (mace, taser, baton, or firearm) or was seriously kicking some officer butt causing major injury (broken bones or incapictation) then yes it would be justified. I think the cops made the right decision in this case. I do think that murder should be a last resort, and in this case it was. They tried to get over the fence, but since it was electrified they could not hop it, however to save the child's life they shot the assailant. Shame that the child died :(

Im glad the MPD shot and killed this man. It is unfathomable to me that no citizens did nothing. I know they have no LEGAL responsibility to do anything, but Jesus Christ.....its a CHILD....Its easy to say what you would do, and harder to do it when faced with it, but a real man would have protected that child in my opinion. I think the cops made the right decision in this case. I do think that murder should be a last resort, and in this case it was. They tried to get over the fence, but since it was electrified they could not hop it, however to save the child's life they shot the assailant. Shame that the child died :(
