  • I did all this. and I see tversity on my Ps3 but, it's empty, despite me having videos in my library on my PC.

  • @mindfreak989 wierd.. did u try restarting server? are you under the correct tab on the XMB.. if all fails try ps3mediaserver .. thats what i am using now

  • they don't cost that much nowadays... (like 100-200?)

  • the even more easy way... Buy a media server ^^

  • @ElfenSky or use ps3 media server lol

  • thats the old version of teversity what about making a new video with the new version having troubles playing videos on my PS3 will not play MKV or Bluray(RIPPED).

  • @RaptorSavage the installation process is the same.. i dont use this anymore so im not familiar with the errors you may getting playing mkv files... try ps3mediaserver .. its free and does pretty much the same stuff as tversity

  • how do you get the external .srt file to show???

  • @mafiagman im not sure if that option is available... might hafta hard code the subs into the video.. maybe search around the settings to see if possible but i am not 100% sure

  • It plays most files without bother on xbox 360, some however will not play without tinkering which is a few clicks. I have had no problems at all with avi's, some but not all divx files work and all mkv files don't work period! I overcame these problems by clicking Tversity settings and then Transcoder. What I have found is that when you set it to always transcode (don't forget to save) that they works fine. The only downside to this to that forward / rewind and so on won't work.

  • @SpacemanVisiting

Replying to myself: I normally put the settings back to how it was for normal avi's. Also install the klite full codec pack, you will find this helps and also that media player classic (Included) plays all files just like vlc on the pc.

Works great through my router to xbox but in all honesty I would nother bother with web streaming, just like the orb it stutters like a son of a bitch, but then again that could be down to my crap internet connection of 2 measly mbps ouch zzz

  • Cheers for that, I installed TVersity because i was having an issue streaming a file, I still have the same issue, when I try to stream it I just get a loading symbol at the top right of a black screen and nothing else, any help?

  • @earlthebeaver what file format is it? is it being transcoded on the fly? if so maybe its taking long to convert the file formtat... and lastly check if it works on other devices (aka its not corrupt file) ...these are my only guesses.. sorry i can not be of further help

  • @rizla420 It's a .avi file, it works with VLC and windows media player on my laptop but when I try to stream it to my TV through my PS3 just the loading symbol comes up and in the status section of the TVersity on my laptop it says it's streaming the file at 99%, I have no idea how to tell if it's being transcoded. Any suggestions.

  • @earlthebeaver have you tried copying the file to your ps3? rather than hitting x just hit triangle and copy it and see if that works... only way to make sure it not transcoding is to go into tversity settings and set it to never transcode...

  • nice write up, although it was easy enough that i didn't really need to watch it, but thanks anyways it was helpful

  • Have you any idea ofr getting around Cinavia ? - For Getting about The sound settings thing cuz that dont work

  • can i stream my netflix to ps3 through this

  • @cheezpie11 Ps3 has a Netflix "app" that is preinstalled. Look under the video section

  • @Mega3P1Kness i know that, im on 3.55cfw so the netflix "app" doesnt work for me, im not a retard

  • Super job, Works BUT........ I followed what you did but i also had to install extra codecs - K-light latest version and the update to K-light, But yeah spot on!!! Thanks dude

  • @raverbaby2001 Just to add Now Installing K-light This Offers .MKV files to be played on the PS3

  • @raverbaby2001 yea k-light codecs r useful.. does it now transcode mkv without further manipulation of the profiles page? thats awesome

  • Thanks man! It certainly helped a lot!

  • bro, vlc says something bout my input and cant stream, plus ps3 n 360 say the data aint supported?

  • @Freddie030609 vlc should not have ne thing to do with this.. what file format u trying to play? tversity should transcode on the fly.. if it still doesnt work try "ps3mediaserver" search it in google it is also rlly good and free

  • @rizla420 thanks for replying bro, got it sorted! keep up the tut vids :)

  • ps3 media server makes it MUCH simpler!

  • on my ps3 when i go to music and see my pc tversity media server and i try to play a song nothing happens

  • @AceBlazer13 i am not too familiar with the music aspect. are they mp3's? if so should not have trouble

  • @rizla420 nvm i realized it plays but just takes a while to start for me.

  • I think TVersity up dated the program I did not have to reconfigured the profile document it was different then the file in your video. The video was very helpful and I can now stream right to my ps3.

    Thank you

  • @totalpackageRN thanks for the heads up

  • TVersity won't show my Youtube favourites. Any ideas?

  • @LetsRockNrolll hmm ... i had set it up one day but i dont remember.. srry ,,, maybe check tversity forums..

  • Tversity won't pick up my PS3

  • @snipermansam should be the other way round.. ps3 picks up tversity no tthe other way round

  • toronto huh, love it

  • awesome Guide. Thanks worked like a charm I kinda am pissed i brought a 1TB external for nothing

  • is the same as vuse? b.c ill just vuse then b.c it was easy and i know i can stream vids to my ps3 (though almost all of them lag).

  • for some reason none of my music shows up???

  • just hook your pc up to your t.v. through hdmi and not have to go through all this

  • could someone explain why use this when windows 7 & windows media player lets you stream flawlessly to the ps3? just curios, i have been using windows media player/homegroup to stream to ps3 for over 1 year and it works great

  • Awesomeeeee! Thanks

  • arrrr m8 really cool tut man..finally one that works great stuff cheers dude

  • When i'm using tversity my movies starts laging al the time. Someone who know how i can fix it?

  • @rajlle when setting up tversity... there r steps to select either wireless or hardwired...if wireless select that.. also if transcoding make sure the strea is set for speed and not quality... but ur best bet is to hard wire ur ps3 and ur comp... or if not have them close to the router

  • @rizla420 Okey. Actually my computer is wireless and the ps3 is wired, I had couldn't use the internet on my computor at the same time as my ps3 was powered on. But i will try to do something about this. Thanks for your advice i would like some more if you got any.

  • hmmm i have had that set up before but no problems streaming avi files. but hardwiring both is best option... also try and make sure ur home network is not busy aka other computers or downloads etc... hope it helps

  • i like that you added LCD sound system in this guide epic

  • Dude, thanks so much. This is awesome!

  • Thank you so much man! Helped me out a lot! :D Finally i can watch my videos from my computer on my TV ;)

  • @dufreche91 no problem

  • @rizla420 my ps3 keeps saying the movie is corrupted help please

  • @splitpea12 give me more info please... is it one file? what format is it in ... r u transcoding it? a lil more info and i can help u

  • is it 1080p on its glory?

  • dude idk why but when you mentioned lcd soundsystem I subconsciously screamed FUCK YEA! as loud as I could.

  • Can you do this Wired Connection?

  • @finalfantasy10121 yes u can

  • @rizla420 how and im having connection error.

  • @finalfantasy10121 how? i dont get that ... but for the connection error wut does it say? its hard to do without looking so i am going to need to u to be descriptive .. also pm me so we rnt flooding these comments

  • my videos i downloading off utorrent play fine but when i try to stream on the ps3 there is no sound, can anyone help with this problem, i get sound on the PC but not on the PS3 I even burnt the videos on DVD still did not work

  • @prostheticsnow hmm that is odd.. r u playing these files in VLC? r they avi files? when burnt to dvd wut software r u using to convert the file and what proggy u using to burn it? also send me a link to one of the torrents u downloaded so i can have a look at its specs

  • Go to ps3 media server it is the best with all the movies and audio playback in ps3

and it also transcode all types of media

  • are you dumb? you dont need all the bull crap confusing stuff to make work

  • @SVEJENASE13 yea not ne more... when i made this video the ps3 didnt play a lot of the codecs natively.. u had to transcode most files found on torrents etc... not ne more though as i have mentioned in the video summary !

  • Thanks for the walkthrough, it worked like a charm! Kind of a funny side note, you and I have the same desktop background pic of Toronto. I was like "wtf" when I saw your desktop....haha

  • i use tversity all the time i have no problems with it but somtimes the films jump and stop like its buffering or something do u no a way how to stop it?

  • installed PS3 media server and auto started and it does everything for me ... no complex setups or anything. plays every file i have 480p avi to 1080p MKV with subtitles ..... this program looks like crap lol so much configurations and people complain so much about trouble XD ahahhahhah FAILversity

  • @ColdfireTrilogy tversity to does mkv but ur right u have to adjust settings etc... ps3mediaserver is geared towards ps3 users as tvsersity is targeted towards home media server users... i am not too familiar with ps3mediaserver but i do knowtversity allows rrs feeds and streaming from youtube etc... plus ps3mediaserver works on mac also so that is a a bonus also

  • hey this doesnt work at all for me. no idea why. when i run tversity and it is allowed access to the network, under the status tab there is no information there at all and the PS3 won't find it. tversity has access because it detected the PS3 once i think after saying "Detected Device at IP address: 192.168.1.101", but the PS3 still won't find it. any sugestions?

  • @dvon88 k follow the steps carefully... make sure windows firewall and shit are allwing tversity & media server.exe... no make sure tversity is up and running... then go to ps3 and go under the video heading in the xmb... then click search for media server.. also make sure in settings media server is enabled... if all fails restart computer and redo the process...

  • @rizla420 tried that several times and it's still not working. like i said under the status tab in tversity there is nothing there except under server messages it says detected device at IP adress blah blah blah. PS3 still won't find it.

  • @dvon88 hmmm im sorry dude i dont know how else i can help you... in google search "ps3mediaserver" it is a google code.. pretty much the same thing as tversity with a dif gui that also works with macs... test it out... i think they have also managed to incldue mkv transcoding

  • is this an old version?

it doesnt give me an option as to where I want to store the file on my pc.

  • @Qamilleinternational ... store which file? the tversity.exe installation file.. or do u mean like isntalling tversity which should be default...c:\program files\tversity media server...

  • Hell yeah!

    Top Gear

    You rule.

  • hey i have like a 6GB movie file and when i use tversity it doesnt show up? its an mkv file

  • tversity doesnt natively transcode mkv .. u have to search google for ways to set it up for mkv... u can try "ps3mediaserver" which is a google code and is as good as tversity from wut i hear...

  • please who can help me?

i got the programm to and this problem what i tell you now do i have on all stream programms! He found only pictures, while a make a map with a video or music in it does he says "no file found" who can help me with it ? please sent me PM! thank you muchh

  • What about MKV files? can I play them on my ps3 as well?

  • if you search google there are ways to get tversity to transcode mkv... it has to do with ffdshow settings.... if u rlly want mkv to work download ps3 media server... its a googles open source code shit... its transcodes on the fly including tversity...

  • @Rafahil some not all

  • you can stream mkv via ps3 media files

  • sorry you can stream .mkv files via ps3 media server.

  • Can you get Hulu working? Is there a way Ive tried everything? maybe make a nice guy like me a tutorial :)

  • i live in canada.. no access to hulu.. but i think tversity now works with hulu and shit.. not too sure

  • thats ok I just forked out 30 bucks for "Play On" So far Im not disappointed it does everything i want it to and more.

  • im trying to get ps3 to pc to ustream

  • hmmm thought i already replied to this... but justin tv and atdhe (google it) both those sites work in ps3 browser... i dont see why ustream wont work in the browser

  • GREAT VIDEO TUTORIAL. I couldn't figure out why the videos weren't showing up on my ps3 and saw that I was looking under the music section. Music don't play though because I downloaded them from Zune. Booo.

  • how do i put all my music into TVersity, i can c it on my ps3 but how can i put all my music into it in on go

  • in the library ... click add file.. or add folder... and select whatever u want.. and on the ps3 under audio it should show up

  • soz i found it i was being stupid wen i wrote that

um do u know wot video files can be played on ps3, and how i can get some vids off of my itunes and onto my harddrive, or the loaction of the itunes folder or wotever.

cus i want to stream some movies i have on my itunes

    cheers

  • almost all files r playe don the ps3.. no mkv... tversity can transcode on the fly... mkv is harder to do as tversity and video codec files need to be manipulated.. also.. not sure about itunes DRM and if it is possible to stream itunes purchased content onto the ps3...

  • yeh soz i was being stupid again i found it after i posted lol

i found that all the movies n stuff u buy in itunes are located in folders in the itunes music folder which is in your users music folder

cheers anyway lol soz for the trouble lol

  • lol np

  • @rizla420 hi does this tvesity work if i want to steam avi's also or does it just work for mpegs?

  • works with all videos other than mkv... but it can be manipulated to do so... jus some extra steps

  • heh lol im just follwing this vid to make sure i did everything right, not paying attention that i did do everything right and i was just watching this vid for nothing.... excellent video dude keep up the good work 5/5

  • dos it work 4 xbox360 please help

  • i thinkso.. i know windows media server works with it

  • NICE - REPRESENTING for the T-DOT.

    (like the background)

  • My friend has a PS3 and Popcorn Hour. I guess Popcorn Hour is redundant to have since you can use Tversity to stream your media anyways. Or is it a bit different?

  • yea... if u have a ps3 no need to get "popcorn hour" they basically do the same thing... except the ps3 does a lil more than just stream media.. video games and blu ray :) ...

  • you said games right... HOW DO I GET THEM LOL!!!

  • i need to stream 44gb bluray rip. It is in m2ts, can i stream it?

  • not sure... im guessing hd camera? blu ray or a sony hdd camera? m2ts file i am pretty sure can play on ps3... streaming a file that big i not 100% sure... give it a shot and let us know!

  • yeah just doesnt show up straight away sometimes on ps3, sorted now though, started using it again, just downloaded the full BAND OF BROTHERS, stored it on ps2 and watched it, cant live without it now

  • nice tutorial ! Thx a lot

  • i have done this for years, suddenly it has gone from my ps3 menu, any help?

  • restart media server... ummm restart both ps3 and pc... maybe do a re install.. .no ideas why is not appearing

  • thanks mate!

  • I'm getting "No media servers were found" on the PS3...for some reason my PC and PS3 are not seeing eye to eye...Upnp is enabled, Media Sharing ON...I have been at this for HOURS and can't figure out the issue here!

  • first of... make sure the y r on same network.. secondly go through windows firewall.. mediaserver.exe and tversity.exe have to be allowed... thirdly make sure media server is enabled from ps3 settings... other than that im not sure wut the problem could be

  • ok, i noticed that divx shows up on my ps3 but what is it? can u record movies and game footage?

  • divx is just a type of video codec... its their logo thats hows up when u play divx files...

  • "PS3 Streaming Guide"

Great so where is the part when you connect via ps3?

  • so once u have everything set up on ur pc... go to ur ps3 and make sure media server is enabled from the settings... and it should just pop up on the ps3...

  • thank you very much rizla420~~ u helped me alot with this

figure out when playing avi on ps3, its acceptable ok smooth, but lots of buffering on mp4 is that normal? also cant play mkv at all eh? oh if i add a folder in the library, how could i delete it afterward?

  • np... buffering for mp4 is normal. i have experienced it also... yes tversity CAN play mkv files... jus search google on how to set it up.. gotta download k-lite codec pack and manipulate ffdshows settings... to delete a folder just go to library and sort it out there... also if u rly want mkv files to work and cant get tversity to do it... search for google's ps3 media server... they have a free one available that transcodes mkv on the fly.. i have never used it thus dont know the quality of it

  • You are the best man!!!!!!!! i had a few problems afterwards but i managed to sort them out!! thanks bunch!

  • hey can it make the slim play apple lossless?

  • Would this work with the slim ps3? I should I get the chubby? (i'am about to buy one)

  • yes it does... get which ever one u want :)

  • pms-setup-windows-1.10.51 is what i use to stream...it's kick ass...u can get it for mac as well...it's the pms ps3 media server...google that n u should be fine......it does everything, and it's easy

  • The windows media server is WAY easier.

    Good video though.

  • except windows media server doesnt work as well, is slower, and doesnt transcode media I believe.

  • I have Blu-Rays on my pc and Windows Media Server can send those across to my ps3. This software can. Full 1080p streaming!

  • no it's not

  • Thanks mate. Top bloke putting this up. Cheers

  • tnx great stuff

  • Ok i dont get how this helps with the ps3, you did everything on your computer... i just learned abotu TVersity so i may not know exactly what it does.... so idk.. how does the ps3 pick it up? is the ps3 connected to your computer? ahh im so confused

  • tversity is a media server that runs on your computer. the ps3 has the ability to pick up the media server and act as a media hub. thus u can stream wut is on ur computer and watch it on ur tv through the ps3... wiki it or google it for more info.

  • oh ok cool, how does it pick it up? via bluetooth? or through the wireless or something? i tried googling it and i didnt find much besides this..

  • also does this work for stuff like hulu or just for movies that you already have on your comp???

  • u have to be on the same network... wireless is fine jus set it in the settings but isuggest having either ur ps3 or comp hard wired to get best streaming experience...

  • LAN?

  • LAN?

  • installed it and ps3 detected tversity but i'm still getting a dlna protocol error 7531?

  • i need help , i get errors when streaming using this .

  • i can only help u when u help explain ur errors... r ne of them saying this media can not be played? cuz thats a simple issue... if not please explain wut it is and i will try and help u

  • DLNA 2104 along with other DLNA codes . And some media doesnt show up , and a few albums say TVersity has deleted it

  • hmmm that is weird... havent had ne of these issues... go the the official tversity website and go to their forums... they are more knowledgeable than me on this subject and im sure u will get an answer there... srry couldnt help

  • Toronto.. niiice...

  • i did everything you said to do to install tversity but my ps3 isnt detecting it. like i did the firewall thing. I added a folder of mine with songs in it to my library but when i opened my ps3 and clicked check media servr in audio it jus scans and says no server found

  • try PS3Media Server

  • yea sometime ps3 doesnt recognize media server... restart ur ps3.. .and also go into tversity and click on settings... click restart sharing... this will reset the server and should now show up on ps3

  • will streaming affect my upload/download cap from comcast?

  • no... streaming from pc to ps3 is purely on your own network and has nothing to do with the internet or comcast... good question though

  • thank you very much

  • I did this and works, the PS3 picks it up

but I can't seem to get my Music to show

    pics show only

  • Great Guide

  • i have a couple of movies that are in MPEG-4 format, but when i stream with this server to the ps3, it says The data type could not be supported. what has gone wrong?

  • hmmm not too sure... how big is the file? is it h264 or x264... cuz ps3 will read h264 and i dont know if tversity distinguihes... maybe u can go to settings of the file in tversity and force it to transcode to another format...

  • the info of the vid on the ps3 says the resolution is 480 x 272 and the codec is MPEG-4 521 kbps. is there something wrong with that? because i have other mpeg-4 movies that play fine on my ps3 :(

  • Thanks mate.

  • Clean and simple explanation

  • how do you disable uac

  • Winamp remote streams it top the PS3 aswell but I can't seem to save the music on to the PS3, does Tvversity let the Ps3 save the music?

  • yup tversity allows u to copy files onto ps3

  • bolox vid u only explain the very obvious u worthless thick, non-entetiy shit bag.

  • lol... i guess ur one of the people that didnt rlly need the tutorial walkthrough then... did uknow how to chnage it to mpeg2 format? didnt thinkso... go cry in a corner and not on youtube cuz no one gives a flying fuk :)

  • Great guide but I have a problem with the files I'm trying to play. I accessed the media server on my PS3 but I get the, ''Data file not supported'' error and I have searched for the solution but cannot find one. I deleted and edited in a text editor under the Playstation 3 file but I still get the error. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated.

  • wut file type? .mkv u hafta do special settings.. and if it is format the ps3 doesnt support... in tversity settings click transcode when needed... maybe that will help

  • very good explanation, got mine working fine except for 1 thing. when i subscribe to the youtube, espn, and comedy central channels through the tversity interface, it wont play them.. it says data corrupted. how can i fix this

  • yea i never got that working either... maybe contact tversity support for some help?

  • Nice Reppin T.o.
