@rleeermy The Bible says that we are slaves either way, whether to Christ and righteousness or to sin (Romans 6). Christ is the greatest master. We are slaves, but He does not call us slaves. Rather, He calls us friends (John 15:15) if we repent (turn from our sin) and follow Him. John Macarthur is not afraid of proclaiming biblical truth as so many pastors are afraid of doing. Please, give some thought to this. You will die and face judgment. Cry out to God so that He may save you.
@BRabbit4989 I really do appreciate that you fully accept your beliefs for what they are. You are being true to the scripture, you must submit to an ultimate authority. Please try to apply some critical thinking to this. You don"t need to live your remaining days as a slave you know.
@rleeermy Thanks for your civility. I usually hate commenting on youtube because of how rude people can get. I have applied critical thinking. I was an agnostic leaning towards atheism at the beginning of college. After doing plenty of reading on origins, evolution, big bang theory, etc., I was convinced that God existed. I also read the Bible and it had me convinced of its own authenticity. Not to mention the fact that I am happy as a Christian. I feel God's presence. Thanks for listening.
So the whole point of being a slave to Christ is to gain power and special privileges? The very concept of a "Personal God" is completely Pagan. Could you even imagine Jesus returning and demanding to be worshiped then sending you to Hell if you do not???
Romans 6:22 "But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life."
Wow. He's just coming out and saying it. It's nauseating to see people make slaves of themselves. Are you happy of your chains?

Amen. Too many are slaves to sin. Thinking they are the 'master' of their lives and outcome.

Wouldn't the best metaphor to describe our personal relationship to Christ be that of a wife and a husband in marriage?
Good message though, God bless you!

It would be another good one, but not the best.
He uses the term "slave" because the Bible uses it many times.
I personally think its the best.
Who wouldn't want to be a slave to the source of perfect never ending joy pleasure and happiness?
everyone's a slave to something, but only to masters.. either death or Christ.

1 Corinthians 7:22
"For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord's freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ's slave."
