@TraffleKing I'm assuming that you've never actually used liquid nitrogen before. If you had, you'd know that when liquid nitrogen (which boils at 77 K) comes into contact with a carpeted floor (that's near 300 K), the nitrogen rapidly boils away, changing to a gas that then mixes with the air (which is 78% nitrogen to begin with). So, as long as the room is large enough, it is a SMART idea.

If they think you're going to hurt yourself or someone else with it (by not having a proper container to carry it in, by planning on transporting it in a car, etc...), they know that they are the ones who the lawyers are going after. As for where, try a welding supply shop. But, again, that assumes you have the proper training and equipment.

The pressure of the gas evaporating cushions the drops, and they "hover" (for lack of my knowing a better term) on the expanding gas. It is interesting to pour it down a cement or metal stairway (not carpet) and watch it skate over the surface. But as always, be careful, very, very cold. Also well ventillated area.
