Thank you for this video. Going raw 100% is really hard and guilt destroys people. Guilt has taken more of a toll on my health than failing on my diet. Thank you for common sense messages.
I like to listen to Ka Sundance because he tells the truth. He is not on an ego trip like so many other teachers. He want's everyone to succeed and the way to do that is to take each day and make it great and to improve yourself holistically a little bit at a time. It's not a race! There are so many other things to address besides diet. Massage, breathing, emotional issues, sexual understanding & relationships, science, spirituality, herbs, astrology, physics, exercise, yoga, environment...
Coffee may taste good and get you going in the morning, but what will it do for your health?
A growing body of research shows that coffee drinkers, compared to nondrinkers, are: less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia, have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes.
@SpecialPioneerSmerf I respect that, however, I think I would much rather drink coffee and potentially decrease my likelihood of type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia, certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes. I drink my green and fruit smoothies throughout the day, so I have all the bases covered.
@hipsociety and there are many ways of decreasing your potential likelihood of "type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia, certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes", without the use of drugs and stimulants ie: coffee. But if your dead set on it, go for it man.
I've been high raw for months, never felt better. My poor mother, bless her, wakes up each morning and has about 6 cups of coffee. She usually doesn't eat until 3 or 4 in the afternoon and, because she is starving, always overeats. She has gained 40+ pounds the past 10 years and is so unhappy. So, I told her to replace the first 3 cups of coffee with a green smoothie last week. She's already lost 3 pounds and has never felt better(this is someone who only likes chocolate and dr. pepper!) :)
Perfect <3 Just what I needed to hear today <3 Love the idea of raw/clean eating but I am overwhelmed by it <3 You inspire me to try again <3 Love your videos and your family <3 I have nine children so I love your family comes first attitude <3
Thank you Ka. I have been juicing a lot lately and my two kids like the green juice, my youngest will only drink the fruit juices. I am slowly introducing more raw foods into our diet. I would love to visit the retreat with my daughter. What date would be the next trip. Thank you.
awesome! I started the raw diet by getting a cheap $40 juicer from wal-mart and making veggie and fruit juices and made it a point to have at least one a day. after about only 4-5 days of that, my body began to naturally crave raw fruits and veggies. Now eating raw seems completely natural. Your body and mind will break you out of your crappy eating habits on its own. Junk food will begin to taste exactly how it sounds...like junk.
Thank you so much for this message. I've been attempting to go 100% raw for the past two months, for health and weight loss. I've been so confused by so many different opinions on what to eat...nuts and seeds or no nuts and seed? More fruit vs fruit having too much sugar. Then I get frusterated and give in to temptation for cooked food. I watched your interview with Angela Stokes and that was inspiring too. She wasn't 100% and still lost all of her weight. Many blessings to you and your family.
Each body is different! There are differences even among my siblings. We came from the same genetic pool but our bodies react so differently to what we put in them (maybe because each has experienced life differently?) What is important is that we do what intuitively feels right for ourselves and not judge others because we think our way is best for everyone. Much Love and so much Appreciation to Ka for opening this discussion. Blessings to All!
I also was 100% raw for a few months last year, and experimented with 80/10/10 and then less fruit and more greens. Ultimately went about 50% raw and was getting ready to go back to 100% raw but after seeing your video, I think I will just try to increase to 75% raw for now. I do eat eggs a couple times a week and if I could find raw milk, I'd have some of that too. For myself, its the processed food that is like poison.
I think it's a little miss leading to even say the raw food diet is best physically. I tried it for several months and always felt very tired and cold, though I do live in a northern climate which probably played a big part in that. Some people swear they feel best on the paleo diet, or on diets that are 90% cooked. I would encourage people to play around and see what really works for them, not necessarily even strive for high raw if it doesn't make them feel good.
@frodosauce Cooked food isn't better than raw! Excellent blood test results from raw fooders on a low fat, plant based diet which is high in fruit with some leafy greens and minimal nuts and seeds prove it!
@natureasintended There are different sides to health than a simple blood test. On a raw food diet I had extremely good blood indicators and such, but felt extremely tired and slept over 12 hours a day. I would rather enjoy 80 years of an active life than 100 years of lying in bed feeling sickly my whole life. Saying health is determined by a blood test, you may as well just say 100% raw = optimal health, which seems a bit against Ka's philosophies...
@frodosauce OK but I don't see how substituting cooked food for raw would improve health. Most raw fooders feel fantastic if they are consuming enough carbohydrates by way of fruit calories. Dr Doug Graham recommends 12 hrs sleep as it is very healing and this is what we would have done before electricity. I don't know if Ka is saying 100% raw doesn't result in optimal health, but that a positive approach and doing all you can rather than feeling bad for not eating 100% is the best approach.
@natureasintended You may not see it, I can't explain it either, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. Raw food may be great for some people, but I tried it and felt terrible doing it. For all I know raw food could be the ideal diet for evasion of chronic disease and what not, but if I have to feel terrible doing it, it's not worth it to me. If you feel good doing it, keep doing it, but I don't think its necessarily the optimal diet for all people (though it may be for you).
For those in countries without such a wide variety of fruits, what cooked foods would you recommend? It's good also to be aware that cooked foods can cause digestive issues with a high fruit diet.
It's nice to aim for 100% raw for the health benefits but also to feel good about any good intentions / efforts made regarding any percentage of raw included in diet.
Your message is smart, because more people will become more raw and more healthy than if you promote strict adherence to 100% raw. I went 100% raw when I first went vegan in sept 2010. It was not sustainable for me but doing that for 1 month made me enjoy a vegan diet much more. Now, I am on the path to slowly increasing the amount of raw food. Each food that I eat that is cooked, I am slowly finding ways to do it raw.
awesome video my friend. Jose here from Guanacaste CR. great advice. Love your videos. I switched to an about 80% raw food diet and have lost 50 lbs. keep it up
@TheRawTeen@rawfoodfamilylife thank you for your replies, i feel weak every day, not sure what causes it, need to lose a few pounds, so ill try to give up coffee while i get on a workout routine, maybe it will help
@K3ys3rS0ze It's bad because of how your body reacts to it. It is so toxic that once you drink it, your body has to use it's adrenals to produce excess adreneline just to be able to get rid of this toxic substance fast enough to lessen the damage it causes. The problem is you are stressing your adrenals by constantly running off of adreneline, instead of sugar(which your body is designed to do). Eventually you will need to drink more and more coffee to stimulate the adrenals to create more....
@K3ys3rS0ze Coffee in my opinion is a strong drug. It not only does affect your whole nervous system, your blood pressure and your energy level to a huge degree, it also is addictive.
I've been drinking coffee daily for many years, so I know what I am talking about. Feel sooooooooooooo much better without it!!
If you think it is not true, I invite you to NOT drink ANY coffee for a month and be honest to yourself how you feel without this drug in your system. Please share with me after a month!
@rawfoodfamilylife I agree, but nobody else sees it. I used to drink a bunch of mountain dew a few years back and always felt very tired whenever I didn't have it. Now that it's been years since I drank any kind of pop or high caffeine containing substance I feel far more energetic all the time. I always tell my parents they should try going without coffee, they try it for one day and say it doesn't work.
@K3ys3rSOze Ka is 100% correct. It is very difficult to quit but hang in there. Fight thru the withdrawal headaches. Once you quit...after a couple of months of no coffee/espresso/etc...have a taste and so how awful you feel. The body has an amazing ability to adapt to various toxicities. Good luck to you.
@K3ys3rS0ze Continuation: to create more adreneline and release it for your body to get rid of the coffee. Once you have completly exhausted your adrenals, then you could literally just not be able to function, as you were running off of adreneline for so long that your body doesn't have anything else to rely on once your adrenals are toast. Eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies so you give your body glucose so it can properly run instead of coffee to stimulate your adrenals and youll feel great!
@K3ys3rS0ze he didn't say anything was necessarily wrong with coffee but he did point out some facts about caffeine (the active ingredient in coffee). It is a drug; its does effect your nervous system and it is addictive. like any other drug, if you take it every day, your body will adapt and build a tolerance to it and you may see a decrease in response. Therefore, your body will need to "detox". if you suffer side effects from caffeine, it is worth considering not drinking any for a while...
Thank you for this video. Going raw 100% is really hard and guilt destroys people. Guilt has taken more of a toll on my health than failing on my diet. Thank you for common sense messages.
