reminds of back in the day when my hair wasnt grey see that bit of poetry there !! no thank god i was around when this and lots of proper tunes were about !! not the shit my kids listen to !! got this on vinyl still somewhere what a underated band !! remember listening to this at the bristol locarno with my pringle jumper on and old school lois jumbo chords !! and my diadora elite trainers !! i thought i was the bollocks !! old school casual !! my kids laugh at the pics !! good times !!
I always loved this version!! I can't count the amount of times I had to tape back together popped cassette tapes from rewinding and playing over and over again in the car. Heavy track! Need this on CD or vinyl. All the special effects just make the song even that much better. Ernest Borgnine's "You can't meet the duke. You meet him once and then your dead" and the lead singers voice is smooth like silk. Brilliant mix!!
Just adore this version ... been listening to it for longer than I care to remember ... as others have mentioned, "Looks like we're shy" is brilliant too.
I had my ear to the ground back then and completely missed this track. When I found Jacob Miller singing it i was blown away and this is excellent in its own right.
I had this taped off radio but tape finished b4 i heard the artist. I spent 6 months asking round every reggae shop (remember them?), in South London, till an old guy in the corner said; "Me don't know dis vesrion, but de original is Augustus Pablo." found the Colourbox 12 inch and the Augustus Pablo it was sampled / covered from. Started a whole Augustus Pablo dub reggae thing for me that is on going.
omg omg i had that 12 inches so i dont know where iit is T-T love that song thanks to bring me back the golden age warm hugs and peace to y'all .......
Holy Smokes! I'm looking for the white label dubstep version and I stumble upon this! I am kinda stunned that I have never heard of this until now. I am in awe of the British dub tradition.
tune!been searchin for this for a very long time....love jacobs original but this is how to do a cover/remix....the neighbours wont be happy!!!!...thanks...by the way nice deck...
I agree, FANTASTIC stuff, this is brill. Don't forget One Upon a Time in the West too! Everytime I watch that and Escape from New York I am waiting for the quotes from Colourbox songs!!
When I got into Colourbox I had to rent all of the movies that their samples came from...Escape from New York, 2000 Maniacs, Westworld. Awesome track!
i spin this at punk gigs .and with the punk energy of a reggae dub loving crowd it goes down bloody well
