Iha is a genius. You can tell by Billy's overdubs on the new CD that he's trying to make up for his absence. Don't get me wrong, Corgan and Chamberlain are amazing and made SP so great, but you can't understate Iha like that.

Aside from image concerns, Billy has had pretty much everything to do with just about everything the Pumpkins have done. Anyone can fairly well come and go, so long as he remains at the center. He is the driving force. Of course there's collaboration and whatnot, but Smashing Pumpkins is his band and his baby. If you're just now figuring that out, go back in time and pay some more attention.

i honestly believe that Melissa played on Machina, because if you listen to the bass lines..darcy never played like that, and it was more Melissa's style.

I think they credited Darcy on the album because it was the original line-up.

Actually Machina didn't have D'Arcy. It had the bassist from Courtney Love's band Hole. Her name is Melissa Auf Der Maur. This band isn't Billy Corgan's backup band. It's Billy, Jimmy Chamberlain (original drummer), and two new members. James Iha is busy working with A Perfect Circle and D'Arcy didn't want to be included even after the invitation was extended to her.

This sounds fantastic. Billy has a real sense of control over his vocals. I can't wait for the new album. Sure, it's going to feel awkward without James and D'arcy. There's a lot of history and nostalgia that goes with that. But, I think the album will be good enough to stand on its own.
