  • it was "if we leave, we're leaving together"...btw.

  • The officers did a great job that night. Learning from past rioting of the animals in Oakland, they cracked down when damages were still minimal. Great job! Time to tame the people who think its ok to act like out of control animals! You mad? Good!

  • This video is bullshit. Don't believe it. All the car stomping, window breaking, fighting is edit out. The only parts that are in this video is cops 'trapping' them trying to make it seem like cops were the bad guys. Its not like the cops said 'hey , let's trap them' the ONLY reason why they did that was YOU stupid protestors (who give officers OVERTIME) were trapped because YOU GUYS kept attacking houses, cars and stuff. If it was peaceful, you wouldnt be 'TRAPPED' so show the REAL footage..

  • Nothing was "edited out" I posted what i shot. I shot what i saw. I appreciate your passion but perhaps it is misdirected here. I am sure you can find plenty of places in the media where they focus on things you mentioned. I respect everybody's right to free speech and i also understand the world is pluralistic. I haven't even entered my personal opinion on the issue here. You have come to the wrong place if you want to pick a fight. I am just a guy with a camera.

  • All these people are going to be embarrassed of how stupid they look when they get older. Fight the man .... yeah.

  • I was on this march. And this was a peaceful except for the two people I saw commit vandalism. How can u blame 152 people for what two people did? How can u equate busted windows with a two year sentence for a murder committed on camera by police? There was no gun taking from an officer at all at this march. When have u heard of someone taking a gun from a police officer and not being shot or even charged. This is a lie. This system is unjust.

  • What camera did you use??

  • Baby Iraq

  • Im a photojournalism student. If anyone who was arrested on friday would agree to be interviewed or photographed and have there voice heard please contact me laura_cnwy@yahoo.com. As far as the video goes with how little this event has been covered I think we should all thank independent journalists providing us with a host of views of this event.

  • And I can only hope that they don't have something as horrendous happen to them to awaken them to the evil in a situation like this. And if it did, I can only hope that they don't have strangers judging them and labeling them and smearing their name long after they've been put in the ground.

RIP Oscar Grant, an actual person whether you like it or not

  • It's sad to me that people think this is okay. I pity the state of their consciousness and I wonder if they have souls. I can't say I hate them because they're not worth that much energy but people who are this callous to this much suffering, to how unjust this entire situation was are people I don't want to know.

  • Honestly, what do you say to people who think shooting someone who's unarmed, lying face down on the ground, and being held by two cops is okay ... or not a severely punishable offense? My first reaction is disgust and anger. But I think I'm adjusting to the racism, and classism, and the prejudice of people who think Oscar Grant did this to himself. I've just moved on to pity.

  • Instaed of screaming 'We are all Oscar Grant' or 'Justice for Oscar Grant' you guys might as well yell 'O-ver time for Offi-cers' Hahahahahaha

Good editing on deleting people breaking into car windows and store windows and the shell gas station prices. You must be good at making cops look like the completely bad people. LOL. The ONLY reason why you guys were trapped is because of fights, window breaking, car stommping 2 years = perfect. Pure tragic accident. Go protest more so cops can get OT

  • @H1mynameisLarry its easy to talk and make fun while sitting in your moms house in a nice neighborhood, hiding behind a computer

  • @mm5425 Lol why would I go there and say that stuff. There are more supporters for cops then Oscar Grant. There are more cops then the rioterrs fool. Everywhere I go, I tell them what i think. I dont need to hide shit. Go riot more and give cops over time. LOL!!!!! You and your 200 protestors should really riot more though. LOL if they hate cops so much why are they helping them out by giving them OVERTIME. HAHAHAHAHA Even i'm not dumb enough to protest to give them OT.

  • @mm5425 I can guarantee you most of these protesters are hippies who hug trrees and already hate cops and gangsters who already hate cops. LOL 300 protesters? get the fuck outa here. I got classes bigger then 300 people..

  • @mm5425 No I did not vote for Bush, but by your logic, is it okay if I come to your house, burn your vehicle up and trash your home as long as I'm protesting for human lives? Because that is what your response tells me. It is one thing to peacefully protest and have your voice heard, its something else entirely to damage OTHER PEOPLE'S property who have NOTHING to do with the incident, to have your voice heard.

    Its deconstructive, pure and simple.

  • If the U.S. -- or just California -- economy were to make a turn for the better tomorrw, Oakland would be the only city that does not. This is a perfect example WHY..

And what is with that annoying voice in the background yelping, "Nyuck-nyuck-nyuck, bo-peep! Nyuck-nyuck-nyuck, bo-peep!" ???

All that "protesting," and NOT ONE "Kent State moment" photo op (you know, on knees, screamig, arms flailing). I'm so glad I have a life. Thank you, Jesus.

PS: I AM NOT OSCAR GRANT !!!

  • #1) First of all, which "press" do you work for? #2) If O-G what such a "brother," to you, and "you are ALL O-G, why didn't you stick around and "take heat" with your brethren and hags? #3) Your camera didn't shake like someone who was "trapped." #5) I didn't get to hear the cops asking "Who is with the press?" #6) Did the White folks get to call Mom and Dad in the 'burbs to come and get them? #7) Did the Blacks... Wait. They don't have moms and dads... certainly not dads. So phony.

  • Isnt shit like this why the cops have 12 gage magnum riot guns?

  • What you didn't see in the video was all the property damage these "Peaceful" protesters caused, smashing windows on cars and buses and damage businesses. What do you expect to gain by damaging other people's property?

I'm all for having your voice heard, but the damaging innocent people's property in you'r community is not constructive.

And ditch the masks, unless you're commiting crimes while doing this, you shouldn't have anything to hide.

To the rest of you who did it RIGHT, kudos.

  • @Calibrett05 so property is worth more than human lives? let me guess you also voted for Bush right.. typical

  • Look at these fucking gang thugs, I hope the cops arrest ALL OF THEM.

  • glad you got outta there dude. good job, and thanks for posting.

  • I was most and still am very sympathetic about Black people’s history, and I myself contributed to the liberation of Blacks in US, since when I was little in China, I matched with millions of Chinese in street in protest against US’ abuse of Black people’s civil rights. Without international support from people like me, your riots would not have necessarily resulted in your liberty. But now when you are in power, I’ve become your victim. You fought me for the Whites.

  • I am a Chinese. While I regret to see the outcome of Oscar Grant’s case, I think this is a good lesson for Blacks in general, because Blacks when in power, would practice the same racism on other minorities like the Chinese. Look at the Black judges in federal court in Oakland and SF, like Phyllis Hamilton, Saundra B. Armstrong, how they suppressed my human rights suits against the White Defendants, they did that even by committing criminal fraud, forgeries of court documents, etc

  • Thanks for the completely biased footage. What you posted is obviously edited. This was not an "innocent" group of peaceful protesters. The peaceful protesters went home after their demonstration downtown. Everybody else wanted to create havoc when they decided to walk 2 miles into a quiet residential neighborhood. That neighborhood has enough disenfranchised residents that didn't deserve to be subjected to your "demonstration". The lack of consideration that was demonstrated is pathetic.

  • Typical ghetto ass oakland, Always hate the cops. Y'all are like fuking cockroaches! Y'all only come out in the night time to do this retarded act in y'all s own hood...

  • @WW2

My friend, again,i don't see how calling people names is going to solve the problems you are mentioning. When i read what you write i am inspired to fly to where ever you are and give you a big hug. There is some truth to what you are saying but how do we begin to motivate folks to want to be better? You are not separate from any other human being on the planet. The sooner you accept this reality the sooner we can begin to break down the walls that we have created between us and build as a team.

  • @WW2medalsNpatchesME

I am sorry you have such a negative and pessimistic view on Americas future(it's young people). While i agree that this current generation of Americans has a lot they can learn from the generations that preceded them, calling them awful names is probably not the best way to begin building bridges that will help us all create a better America. May the light and tolerance of our founding fathers help you approach your fellow countrymen with more compassion in the future.Amen

  • Perfect example of what happens when people get pissed off at there government/

  • @ enjoy the ride & mad raver

  • Why was all of the violence commiteed by the so called peaceful protesters edited out? Why do people wear mask at a so called peaceful march? All I saw was people out for personal satisfaction and using dead man's name for it, how despicable!

  • Sure are a lot of people wearing masks for such a peaceful protest.

I wonder why the same people don't protest over gang violence in their city? Innocent women and children killed, homes burglarized, people robbed in Oakland daily yet that is accepted without a second thought. But let one bad cop kill a black man and everyone is ready to riot. What a fucked up world.

  • I agree with you Some Tall Gy. The police acted like complete gentlemen. I have not a single complaint about the way they did their job. I hope my video didn't imply other wise. I was simply displaying what i saw from my vantage point.

  • @anascanon fair enough man. Thanks for the video.

  • @anascanon I just want to thank you so much about telling it like it is. I'm so glad it's a professional videoing what incident occured. Not just some ignorant guy just pist off and saying that the police were bullies. They cant help an officer's action just like all the other cops out there that tarnish the badge and make the police look like they are all bad. They are ALOT of good police men.women out there. Thanks!

  • BTW.. i want to say that the police did an EXCELLENT job. Despite having an officer having his own gun drawn on him, another being hit by a rock and even a car.. the police officers didn't go in with batons whacking people or shooting tear gas. They flanked the crowd once it was declared unlawful (after officers were getting attacked), contained it and nobody got hurt. Be thankful that we have some good cops in the east bay running the show.

  • Sorry i am not buying it. I have participated in many protests and if you ask the police officers that you want to leave peacefully when things get out of control / declared an unlawful gathering.. THEY WILL LET YOU. Last night I saw a stream of people walking away from that protest that were let go by police because they wanted to leave in peace. If you keep hanging around in an unlawful gathering.. guess what dipsh*t you're gonna get pinched. Then you cry bloody injustice after.. typical.

  • So when the going got tough you ran with your camera? That's really good reporting there dude. What was going on when you did those air shots? Stuff that you didn't want public to see going on? And if your going to be a protester take off the mask and do it don't hide behind a bandanna.

  • Everybody knows this was going to turn into thug fest.

  • great footage.

  • Hey, I agree with the cause. However marching late at night... come on. Clearly you're going to get into trouble doing that.

  • And the Constitution died too

  • 2 years. 2 fucking years. This system is unbelievable.
