Wow idiots on here actually think a procharger is different than a supercharger! It is a brand of supercharger! The only difference is the procharger has its own belt system and a intercooler. Take that away and it's a cheaper vortech kit. Yes the intercooler allows more boost safely but not much, basically a vortech with an added cooler and it's own belt.

yes jcups you are right, the auto does make the car quicker but its because there is no time off throttle...thats why you see all the pro drag racers runnin your autoglides...BUT stick shift is a hell of a lot more fun!

the difference is a turbo is exhaust powered and a supercharger runs off your belt. turbos sometimes have a delay between when u hit the gas, and when the boost builds up called 'turbo lag'. superchargers dont have that problem. the downside is that superchargers are less efficient and use more power to make power than a turbo would.

superchargers have more immediate kick, so from a stop i would have to put my money on the supercharger. some people gear their cars differently for different builds. for example i know a guy with a 5.0 mustang turbo. his first 2 gears are for torque and the last 3 are for top speed. the motor has enough power to launch on its own. he only uses the turbo boost to get up to top speed in 3-5 gears. rather than spin 1-3 as with a supercharger :)

Turbo lag doesn't happen with every turbo, but it depends on turbo size, how much boost you're running and how the car is tuned for that boost with its powerband. Otherwise, you're pretty much spot on.

correct me if im wrong but i have a buddy with a 4.6 mustang with vortec supercharger they are belt driven... and one with a procharged mustang arent they driven by exhaust so more like a turbo

no they are belt driven centrifugal superchargers, just like paxton or vortech, mine happens to be a cog belt, but a lot of them use serpentine belts like all the other brands
