  • sirry about the double posting. it's my 1st time posting on youtube.

  • the wii verison of sonic unleashed is alright but i like the xbox 360/ps3 verison of

sonic unleashed better. just my opinion.

  • im watching this while i'm playing Garry's Mod.

  • What confuses me is that they said it couldn't handle the hedgehog engine, yet sonic colours basically uses the hedgehog engine, and that's for the Wii?

  • am i the only one that thinks this looks shit lol the wii is for children this is a simpleton version of ps3/360 versions.

nice and easy for youngsters playing the wii, i bet yous guys are the type of people to play your games on very easy

  • @calderposse Yeas i very much agree

  • omfg apotos looks so flippin' different XD i hav the xbox 360 version and i beat this level in literrally 1:02.and wen do ever beat that giant beholder thing in the game?the really cool thing i think about this version,(bcuz i never played it)is the way you level up cuz u level up seprately on xbox360

  • Ive always disliked the idea of on rails like sonic games...

  • dude i can pass this level with flying colors

  • 3 here we 2 1 GO!

  • Wow the Wii version looks so empty and lifeless :/

  • It's still beter then you though.

  • I finished it in the PS2 version with A rank , too.

  • the 360 level looks different and has way better graphics

  • of course. the wii is not based on graphics, but in gameplay.

  • @FrAsCaS07 Yes, but 360 version has better gameplay than wii XD. And I have only the wii version

  • @FrAsCaS07 But the Xbox 360/Ps3 have better graphics and better gameplay. The Wii/Ps2 version is a major downgrade in comparison.

  • @pkstarstorm1up yes, I know. that's why I have the 360 version muahah

  • @FrAsCaS07 the wii verison of sonic unleashed is alright but i like the xbox 360/ps3 verison of sonic unleashed better. just my opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • i played the PS3 version in HD. My eys almost melted from the awesomness! I swear it was so FAST!!!!

  • if you shake the remote while it counts down you can spin dash and start faster

  • I can never do that, I always fall.

  • lol this aint ur vid

  • looks like Sonic Rivals o0 some parts are cool though

  • The levels on wii have a different disign then those on 360 NOT FAIR!

  • i wish the houses actually looked like houses on the wii

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • I got the the 360 version, its awesome, the levels look a lot better, but they both have good gameplay

  • yup, i havethe 360 and the wii version, i reallyl ove them both^^

  • This game looks damn good on the Wii! Can´t wait for Sonic and the Black Knight (march 2009). Tumbs up if you agree!

  • Agreed dude! Sonic and the Black Knight is gonna be awesome! I already saved my money

for it. I have 51 dollar's all ready for it

    ^_^.

  • Man, games are so cheap in America. But developers know that and its just a matter of time until they cost 70-80 dollars...

  • I agree with you on that friend ^_^.

  • it's not cheap, just the others are usually expensive. 100 has lost it's meaning it seems now XD

  • hauuuuurgggghh hauuuraaaaaaaaa why does he make that super sayin sound wen he mks a turn or goes super speed pretty cool though maks him sound powerful

  • Ive got the 360 version but am seriously considering getting this aswell. there is nothing simmilar in the level designs at all

  • sonic unleashed is awesome!! who else agree's?

  • I agree with you friend! Sonic Unleashed is

    awesome!!

  • you got the fuckin demo while Im overhere has a busted down adapter and bought another one that under my christmas tree. you lucky you know that "AjJustChyllin"!?

  • Yup.

It has the cutscenes of the hedgehog engine though :D

  • @Nguyenbbboy IGN most certainly does not own Sonic! IGN is just a biased game reviewing site. Sonic Team and Sega own Sonic.

  • @hj5htjkhk look you rather go play ps3/Xbox 360 wather than wii

  • i didnt know the levels were THAT different i just got done playin the demo for the 360

  • this is greece!mediteranean sea!

  • GRRRR!!!! The Wii/PS2 versions annoy me! THEY'RE TOO DAMN SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only slightly good level design in this version is the 2.5D part...

  • How can the Wii/PS2 versions be slow? If you are saying it's as slow as Sonic 06, then you should try replaying Sonic Unleashed for the Wii and PS2 and compare the speeds. Anyway, all the versions are fast enough. The HD version is faster. But still...

  • I'm not saying it is as slow as 06, but compared to the PS360 version it is REALLY slow. Plus, when you hit an enemy, the screen freezes for a split second... which annoys me...

  • why is there such a big difference between the PS2/Wii versions and the 360/PS3 versions?

i hate it when game designers to that

  • The 360 and the PS3 are stronger and more powerfull systems. Meaning their graphics card and their overall design INSIDE the console can take more in rather then what the Wii and the Ps2 can. Notice how the hedgehog engine was specificly made for the 360 and ps3? Now being SEGA they want to sell more copies of sonic unleashed so they had to make a weaker version of the hedgehog engine to run on the Wii and Ps2. So they had to get a whole new design team to work on the ps2/Wii version.

  • The wii and PS2 version doesn't use a weaker version of the hedgehog engine. It runs the Havok engine.

  • Are you sure? I remember reading It works on the hedgehog engine.. But that would explain why on the back of the case of the Wii and PS2 version it doesent say " Powered by the Hedgehog engine "

  • The Wii and Ps2 aren't strong enough to use the Hedgehog Engine. Otherwise, Sega would have used it, right?

Since their processing power isn't strong enough, that's why they used up a brushed up version of the Havok engine.

  • My fav level

  • Woah Jason has learned well....it's almost as like Ryan was doing.....

  • How do you do the spin dash on the Wii version?

  • Boost button at the start of the race/course during the countdown or boost button on dash panels!

  • Jason Griffith has certainly improved as Sonic.

  • indeed.

  • he still makes sonic sound like an arrogant douche. the dialog doesnt help, but still.

  • Finally S ranked it. By 2 seconds.

  • sonic unleashed wii isnt a ps2 port, check out the gameplay for the ps2 version, it has diffirent graphics and the camera is lil bit differnet....looks harder to control too.

  • this was my first S, but this player did really well!

  • That's practically the only button combination in the game. A B A or B A B(rarely B A B)

  • On the cube controller its R/L/A/B/Y/X.

So ur saying the wiimote/nunchuck setup only gets A/B? :o

  • Yea. Every single time. Or at least when it's not some type of dramatic moment.

Ex. the final boss. There are all types of combinations for dark gaia super sonic fight.

  • But L/R/Y/X come up very rarely. Almost all the time its ABA or BAB.

  • I've almost S ranked this level. I keep on messing up at the important parts.

  • Wow. Whoever played this level was fucking amazing. Good job player.

  • I want to buy Wii ver. in Japan.Because,I hope to operate with wii or GC controler!!But,buy also 360 ver...If I buy them,I'll not have money...

  • But it a good sonic game still : ] & Am at Super sonic all ready.

  • wii the best

  • Is all sonic say during stages at daytime is "Uhrrra" & "Whoo!" ?

Wow I guess no more voice over for hints ...

    YAY !!!

  • Don't forget about "Hiyah"

  • My dad bought this game for me yesterday and

its AWESOME!!!! *Runs To Go Play The Game*.

  • I can't wait til the next gen version comes out

  • Next gen version?

  • Cloud801 meant the Xbox360 and PS3 version. This one isn't really next gen because it has worse graphics than the 360 and PS3. It still is next gen, but not as good graphics-wise

  • Yeah, I got the wii one today. I think my hope for sonic has been renewed.

  • Yeah its next gen in the sense that the wii controls are incorporated in place of the graphics.

  • this or animal crossing city folk?

I am a fan of both games but now that i've seen the reviews for both im not sure which to get :( plz help me out.

  • I have the exact same problem.....lol

  • :D lol i download this game :P

  • How much does the game cost for wii? $50 or $55? (Canadian dollars)

  • $49

  • The Wii onw has no Mazuri or Empire City :(

  • How do you know?

  • The Wii does have Mazuri, but only for a boss battle.

Instead of Empire City, the Wii version has Eggmanland ;)

  • Oh Thanks.

  • you got it and played already? O.O if so, let em know once and for all if there is a HUB world in the wii version

  • I fixed 4 contenents already O_O

  • Static Hub is like selecting stages except you're looking in Areas not running around with Sonikku lol (Sonic)

  • I'm kinda confused here right now..I know that only Sega has the modified Sega engine, and the PS3/XBOX360 has the Hedgehog Engine.

But what confuses me are some of the levels, I mean, aren't they supposed to be the same in all three versions. And the minigames are they supposed to be in the Wii version too.

I'm talking like I'm not making any sense but I've seen some videos that made me think about it.

  • I got the wii verison it dissapointing

1] It dosent have shadow/ knuckles playable.

2] it has no hub worlds

3] no min games no DLC l:[

    4] It a ps2 port

5] were sonic mouth were he says ready at started.

    6 ] The xbox360/ps3 get extra lvls.

  • I'll try Wii Version anyway. Guess I've no choice but to get the XBOX/PS3 Version of it also.

  • Of course Knuckles and Shadow ain't playable. They were just confirmed to appear somewhere as NPCs and I'm not even sure if that's true (for PS3/360 anyway).

They both are playable in Sonic & the Black Knight, though. Which is why I'm looking forward to that game.

  • yeah. The Wii version has pretty much less features.

  • yes it does idiot wth made you think that?

  • At least he recognizes the fact that Jason's improving.

  • wow pretty awesome, totally get it today and by the way, if the level is empty and short and easy is because is the first one,in a lot of games the first level is really easy and not to fulled with enemies and stuff, anyway, great video and quality

  • Did anybody get this yet? Nintendo Power gave it a 8/10!

  • I might get it either today or tomarrow which

    is awesome! ^_^.

  • They should've kept Drummond. Griffith's growls and grunts sound like a Sonic-Shadow mix. But then he does voice both of them...

  • Can't wait for tomorrow! =)

  • Tomorrow we get the Wii version! YES YES YES! I gotta block Youtube and any other website that spoils the game for me!

  • Don't forget PS2 version!

  • same man i know what u mean its like MK Wii the yoshi noises were so anoying

  • I'm not bashing this, it looks GREAT for all that it is, BUT Does anyone besides me think that the ONE voice clip played when he boosts gets really annoying after a while?

  • Yeah, it does get annoying. I'm probably going switch it to japanese language with english subtitles when I get it Wednesday. I depends which one has more...well expression, life I guess. *shrugs*

  • i think this whole level is longer than all the levels in super mario sunshine :P thats why it has stil 8 levels...ohh forget to tell ( UPDATE: both versions got 8!! stages night and day.. ) Apotos has 2 acts. and there are final and last zones of course. Every zone gots a hud. And there are a lot of missions. Big game:P after all

  • you know, this boss was also in the empire city trailer for 360 and stuff, I think it's a miny-boss, like the one that shoots missles

  • It's also in the E3 trailer. When the screen splits into four, there's one scene from Chun-nan that has the same boss. Yeah. It's got to be some sort of mini-boss. Something to notice, though, is that all three of these guys shown have totally different attacks from one another.

    This guy: Steam-rolling.

    Empire City: Shock-wave.

    Chun-nan: Missle/bullet launching (I think).

  • this game looks so sick! iv been anticipating this game for so long. the wii controls look quite easy to handle. im just wondering though, for the side-stepping that u have to do to avoid that boss and other obstacles, u dont have to move the wii mote side to side do u? im still getting the wii version. its my only next gen console other than my DS. but, the wii version looks like lots of fun and the graphics look pretty damn good too! i look forward to the werehog controls on the wii verion.

  • uh, twilight, if it echoes, then your sound might be going wrong, that happened to mine, restart it first

  • railed?

  • the Wii version looks better than i thought and the voice acting might get a little annoying.

  • if u don't want this version then get the 360 version

  • Ever consider that (A) this is the first level (excluding tutorial) and (B) they could've set the game difficulty to Easy.

  • jeez i hate u people that judge the entire game cuz of one level.

  • its sad how many viewers dont consider the fact that this is the 1st level. ur judging how easy the 1st level is. well, come on! its the 1st level.

  • Besides, the 360/PS3 version also has that "lame" boss. Check out the Empire City trailer. The other version has just as much, if not more, pointless running & drifting. I'm glad I'm getting the Wii version.

  • The graphics actually look very good for the Wii. Maybe I should debate over the 360 or Wii version.

  • So does this mean there only 2 levels for each place?

  • Maybe for Apatos. Still, that's at least eighteen levels, all of them huge.

  • Dang, this has awesome graphics for the wii.

  • Well until we see all the level designs we can't say its empty yet because this level is the first one in the game so its only fair to have fewer obstacles in the beginning levels so that you can learn and get used to controls of controlling Sonic. I think its not the level designs are boring its just there isn't a lot of obstacles and events going on in the background. I think thats fine because Sonic is all about speed so why slow him down with so many enemies and obstacles...just an opinion.

  • 0:23 WHOOOH

  • yeah its maybe empty compared to 360 version, but hell it looks like fun

  • When I first looked at this video I personally thought that it was just a bad video of the Xbox 360 version of the game..until I saw the "Z" button in 0:51, I was WTF!?!?!?!?!? o_O That's the Wii version of it!!! I had to look at this 5 times and go to IGN to confirm it to believe this L.O.L. :)

  • people shouldn't complain that this is empty, Sonic Rush was pretty empty, yet many said it was really fun

  • Personally, I prefer it without debris flying in front of the camera. All that stuff makes it hard to concentrate, in my opinion.

  • ALSO, I don't think the Wii Holoska level looks empty at all. I think it looks rather awesome. Same with the Adabat level.

  • does anybody know if the wii versions levels will have acts to them? like windmill isle act 1 and act 2? because if they dont that would make the game rather short if you ask me.

  • theyll have acts

  • Even if there are no acts, that's still at least eighteen huge levels. Plus, there's always the replay valua that Sonic's famous for.

  • Confirmed: Dimps wanted this level to be empty so people can practice, learn the controls and test the speed level of the game, so stop being assholes just because almost the whole level is empty

  • LOL, it's called criticism. And this isn't the only level that looks empty for the Wii. The chun-nan level, the Spagonia level...all look empty. It's not bad, it's EMPTY. I NEVER SAID it sucked, I just said it's empty, so don't call me an asshole for stating the obvious.

  • As I said b4 until we see all the level designs we can't say its empty yet because this level is the first one in the game so its only fair to have fewer obstacles in the beginning levels so that you can learn and get used to controls of controlling Sonic. I think its not the level designs are boring its just there isn't a lot of obstacles and events going on in the background. I think thats fine because Sonic is all about speed so why slow him down with so many enemies and obstacles...

  • Yeah, but IT'S NOT THE ONLY EMPTY LEVEL. Spagonia Wii is empty, Chun-Nan Wii looks empty...I mean, the newer levels, like Adabat and Holoska look good, but come on.

  • There could be a difficulty setting for all we know and if you look at the stages, there not empty, they are only empty to their HD counterparts, but still, a little innovation never hurt anybody.

  • your missing the point...this is the only full level we have seen so far until we have seen the entire level of Spagonia, Chun-Nan and others then you can't say that for sure. I'm not arguing that is won't be empty I'm just saying we don't know for sure if its really empty or not.

  • No, I've seen the full level of Spagonia via TMG footage. I know what I know...lol

  • i agree with you ....this is only practice stage not actual level if it was robots will be there alot of them

cant wait for tomorrow for wii =DD

  • Hey at 2:07 those look like the bladed spinners from sonic adventure.

  • hey dude can you make a walkthrough please?

  • ...the emptier level is better?

    You people are idiotic.

  • Then IGN is idiotic. They like the Wii Version better.

It's not just the level design, but the gameplay experience...

That's why people still play retro games!

  • Level design IS part of the experience, man. If it sucks, the game ain't fun. But it looks really good on the Wii, just...empty.

Lemme rephrase that: the design is great, the just needed to put more in it. But apparently, this is the final version, so...yeah.

  • IGN is idiotic. The person who made that article was basing his view on an early build of the game, even though recent impressions from more up-to-date versions have confirmed that the framerate is solid. Dumb.

In Sonic's case here, those retro games in which you refer to have strong level design. Sonic 3 and Knuckles in particular boasted levels with a ton of obstacles, platforming, and overall depth.

If you feel that boosting along unadorned stretches of road is retro, you're joking.

  • This really isn't bad, the level design looks good, maybe better than the 360/PS3 version, but there's one massive flaw:

    IT'S FUCKING EMPTY!!!!!!

There's barely any badniks, or obstacles to try and slow Sonic down, or in some cases even any indication of activity. And that can make even running at 300+ miles per hour seem boring.

That's one key thing that is keeping me towards buying the 360 version, in addition to some of the other extra features it has over it.

  • sure, but its the first level

remember City Escape and Emerald Coast?

Empty too, but one of the best sonic levels

If you want to buy the 360, fine

    its your opinion

    But I'm getting Wii

  • Those 2 levels weren't empty at all. They were packed with enemies, cars, and gimmicks to impede Sonic's progress. This is a different story.

  • Also, those 2 levels seemed ALIVE!!! Cars were driving by, dolphins and whales were hoping around, there were whales, etc.

  • lol true but here at the end you have a mini boss just like in Sonic 3

  • Yeah, THAT was pretty cool =p

I'm not bashing the Wii version, y'know, I have both a Wii and 360, I'm just sayin', if I had to choose...I mean, I did say the level design looks better, it just seems more dead.lol

  • lol but the graphics in 360 kinda look wierd, I mean the graphics are jaw dropping but it being a sonic game, they seem some what out of place being so life like

  • good point i so totally agree

  • T_T' Are you kidding me?! They don't look life-like! If anything, they look like a Pixar movie, or something: cartoony, but with loads of realistic qualities. Just compare the people to the towns, the design even RESEMBLES Pixar!

And....that's just a poor excuse to defend the Wii version. I never said the graphics for it were BAD, just that the 360 version looked better, but only because the 360 is a more powerful system. So there's no need to defend it, but...man, that's a silly excuse =P lol

  • I never stated that i was defending the wii version, i'm actually mad about the graphics, even thought the look good, they could've done alot better. 360 Wii, who cares its sonic, we love that guy, that's what is most important

  • lol, don't be mad, they look fantastic for the WIi =P In fact, all versions look pretty great graphically XD

And I never intended to argue about what's version's better, some people just took what I said the wrong way, I suppose.

  • im one of those people aren't I? LOL

  • Well they sure killed 3D sonic when they made him too lifelike in the Sonic the Hedgehog game for 360/PS3. A "cartoonier" looking Sonic fits him better art syle wise...just a humble opinion no bashing intended

  • me too :)

  • Dude this is just the first level, so its gonna be easy. It gets harder later on.

  • Actually I think it being more empty is better in this case because you get a better sense of speed. With the too many enemies to deal with it be like playing 360/PS3 Sonic the Hedgehog levels with Sonic all over again.

  • I prefer the more empty one, because you can move about more, and you have more time to choose what path you want to go down the level.

  • Damn, it looks pretty damn awesome for the Wii.

  • Awesome!

  • the wii version is not that bad
