thank you for this...born and raised in braintree. married an airman from wethersfeild over 20 years ago and now live in the US, i miss England this made me cry :)
WOW! Thanks for sharing! Was in the 819th Red Horse from 87-90. Great times... Even did a little shout out for the Bull! and of the kabab stand that was frequented before the cab ride back to the dorm.
Not sure if you got a shot of it, but would love to hang out with the vets at the Royal Navy pub and listen to their stories... which I am sure were all true ;)

Remember Airman Jim Bates buying me my first British pint at the Boar's Head in July '66, and catching the new flick, "Bonnie and Clyde" at the Embassy Theater in '67.
The Boars Head was the first pub that I visited back in Oct. '66 when I had just gotten to the "Patch". Glad to see that it's still there. Thanks for the video.
Dear Ken. I`m so impressed that you had the foresight to film all this stuff. Please tell me the source of the music background. Thank you so much for your farsightedness and your maturity. Paul.
Thank you kdyken for posting your Braintree film. Contrary to popular belief and the posters on this site, not everyone who lives in this still lovely town are cretins or chavs. I hope you enjoyed your stay
somehow you've made braintree look nice instead of the dump we've all come to know and...accept, i don'y know how you did it, but well done! (the absence of people probably helped) (cheesey grin)
I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath in the 70s. I am wondering if Wethersfield is anywhere near RAF Lakenheath or RAF Mildenhall (sp?) I enjoyed your video...it's been 30+ years since I left.
Please someone help me find Stella of Braintree. She's half black, half white, with a horse named Guardsman. She had a baby girl in 86 or 87 named Hannah! Can anyone help me find them?
My hubby was stationed at RAF Wethersfield, I used to live in Braintree as a child, met hubby in 1983. I knew a Stella, let me know what her last name was. She had a sister called Jean, wonder if it is the Stella I knew.
The Stella I knew lived in Cressing, last name Farr, she would be about 40ish now, does that sound like her? Not sure if I can find her, I will ask a friend though who might be able to help.
We moved to Braintree in the late 60s and I left in the 80s - When I was young the only trouble was from pikeys in Hay Lane and 'yobs' from Coldnailhusrt and the Glebe.
My parents still live there and I hate going back as it is now a shit hole full of crap shops, wankers and chav london over spill.
ha ha not much as changed. live down coldnailhurst and still little yobs and drug dealers all over the place. some young lad even got stabbed and died down coldnailhurst last year.
yeah, that aint the way braintree is. he got stabbed over drugs and i know alot about it. was sad what happened, but it was people who came down from london. dont paint braintree as a place that people always get stabbed.
I was startioned at RAF Wethersfield in 85. I know a girl named Stella who got pregnant. She had a baby named Hannah. I'm Johnnie M. Does anyone know Stella or Hanna from Braintree?
I USED TO LIVE THERE! wow how it has gone down the SHITTTER.. anywho when was that recorded.. wheres all the black people walking around and the indians. HAHA an embassy theather, now its a weatherspoons! classic lol . . . and why does it zoom in on the pole dancing club? the camra man must have seen something ey. oooh do i see fairy liquid in the foutain? (must have been me) Overall.... WHAT A SHITHOLE SO GLAD I MOVED TO AUSTRALIA! I LOVE AUSTRALIA !!
In the 60's, were the pole dancing club, there use to be a pub called "THE BELL", a hang out for the American Airmen that were stationed at RAF Wethersfield.
@turbohard it still is i cant wait until i move to australia were i suppose there are less stabbings and less weirdos who commit suicide right behind my high school
