I live right down the street from that plaza, the ugly green building used to be a farmer jack and then turned into a food basic. Now its a cedar creek church which just opened up last Saturday.
well let's start by this. the idiots that live in toledo keep electing the same idiots into office. (the skeldons, kapturs, and carty) you wonder why it's a complete shit hole!!! i love the fact i moved out of that hell hole and my family is doing the same! Toledo all american shit hole!!!
This is the legacy of modern-day liberalism, economic ignorance and big government.
I used to love to sit near the Maumee River and watch the ship traffic. There's probably very little traffic anymore. I haven't been back to Toledo in five years. I miss it terribly.
The Grandma's Country Cookin restaurant is going to be re-opened as "Scrubs Pub+Grub"... its going to be ran by a not so trust worthy person. He was the owner of Rain and Plush night clubs
In 1980 we had a president thatstarted busting unions, then we had his buddy greennspan that said free the banks and created junk, now we have a country that has been failing. when other rich countries did the american banking experiment they got into trouble as well. Banks and the economy need to be controlled, now we have the libertardians and other conservs screaming how great the companies are, companies too big to fail and how we need pure free enterprise, look how great it has been
This guy must have an ax to grind as he drove around Toledo Ohio and only recorded the areas that have struggled. Check out the toledoh7 channel to check some of the great places to live, work and play. How come we don't see any video of Maumee, Sylvania, Old Orchard, Ottawa Hills, River Road, Perrysburg, Rossford, etc?
Also I apologise about my earlier comment about asking if you guys had Kroger; I had not watched up through the latter part of the video before then, so my bad. But anyways, excellent video, and I agree; the economy is definitely not rebounding. It wasn't in January, and its not now in August.
Frisch's is also pretty common in the northern half of Kentucky [which is more midwestern than many people realize, lol], and especially in the Kentucky side of Metro Cincinnati and in Louisville, but its bad to see it going under in one of its staple territories [Ohio]. By the way, do you guys have Kroger up there? Just wondering because the former grocery store sort of had the design of one.

@EconCat88 I agree 100%. I live in windsor, canada right across from detroit, and it has the highest unemployment in canada., the tool and die shops for the auto industry have bled tens of thousands of jobs in privately owned mold making plants, all outsourced to asia india and brazil. The top three employers used to be Chrysler, Ford, and GM, but both ford and gm have closed 4 plants here.
@bodizone1 To much Military spending ? What planet are you on? Don't you realize that WW2 got us out of the Great Depression. Military spending is first on your list and that is the reason I'm attacking your post. I can agree on you saying the next few reasons, but not military spending.

@Jveigel7 Downtown...really? If you like all the abandoned buildings sure lol. Or the over priced entertainment and living downtown. Or the fact our mayor is now selling our city assets to china lol. Get real, our city sucks, has sucked for a long time. Why people are moving out.
@Jveigel7 he said nothing bad about toledo. I'm a native toledoan and love it very much, even though everyone talks badly about it. its an awesome place but we're having some BAD financial issues man
It's the suburbs. This is happening everywhere across the world because suburban development is not economically sustainable. The way to succeed is a strong urban core (i.e. a downtown). Toledo's downtown is slowly but surely moving along--contrary to your other video.
EconCat88, Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I'm from Austin, TX but lived in Toledo for a few years in the mid 90s. I lived at 3303 Heatherdowns and know this area well, my wife worked at MCO and I at LOF. When our division moved out of Toledo in '98, I got homesick and moved back to Austin. That Maumee river basin soil in Toledo is the best! I think all those empty buildings will soon be gone and the farms will come back. BTW the store at 8:49 used to be a clothing store.
Those empty stores at 9:36 look like they're owned by the Australian retail property group Centro from the signs on the shop front? Very interesting video.
I used to live in Toledo, now I'm in Sydney Australia. Had you kept walking past those shops in the back at the end of the video you would have seen my old apartment building. You're correct in that there used to be a Sears Hardware - I worked there in the paint department. I'm not sure what's still there as I've been gone for six years, but there used to be a McDonald's and Wendy's there as well.
Born and raised in Toledo. When I was growing up Toledo was a lot different. Sad to see a city destroy itself. I saw the writing on the wall then and left after high school about 30 years ago.
Grew up in South Toledo. It is really sad looking now!! I moved in 1998 and my mother still lives up there but she is moving down by me IF she can sell her house in that hell hole of a city. No offense Toledo but it is sad there now!!
p.s. Its crazy that the Kroger in Southland is still open. Theres another Kroger a mile east down the road (a new one, too) on the corner of Detroit/Glendale, and then a mile west theres another one, in the same plaza as the South End Grille (Glendale/Reynolds).
Whats pathetic is I live about 5 miles (off of Heatherdowns) west of there and totally had no idea Big Boy's had been closed. Yikes. I know Peeler Music closed its music store, that kept me from even bothering to go to that area of town.
my grandparents were born in toledo ,and lived there most of there life .i lived with them years ago ,i remember going to a mall called the woodville mall
I am not sure what the poster is trying to convey in this video. Yes, Toledo has empty retail space, name ONE city that doesn't. Maybe he should drive by the Westfield Shopping Center and whip out the camera, not many empty spaces that way.
Facts? What facts have you posted here. You posted a GUESS about Dave & Busters. Even if D&B opened stores in Toledo, it would not be located in the area this video was recorded.
The Byrne/Glendale/Heatherdowns/Reynolds area has been steadily declining for 15-20 years. Get over it.
Immigration is the answer to the economic crisis. Inject 12 million tax payers into our economic system and you will see a change in our Federal, State and local economic system. Good video, I'm up north of you in Southeast suburbs of Michigan, and yeah what you filmed looks like everywhere around here too. Funny I haven't heard anything about Toledo in a couple years at least. The collapse is on-going and is becoming so noticeable, that I think even the sheep know it, but don't know what to do.
To me all this resembles a nation that is moving out of a house! It really looks like a ghost town now.
Americans once were fiercely independent and would never consider running to the government to solve their problems. Today we are a sad lot of whinny cry babies looking for someone to hand out free pacifiers. Either we work for the government sucking directly off the teat or we work for a corporation who is paid by the government again sucking the government teat. A new government system called Kleptocracy
@LibertarianBiker When the money is created, er digitized at no cost NOT by the government but by a Rothschild owned and controlled so called Bank, corporation. (Hide ownership and responsibility with corps) then this debt issue fiat money is lent at usury to the very government that could have created it without no compounding debt. THE NATIONAL DEBT IS A FALSE DEBT. Then they shift the false debt to a subsidiary China Rothschild central bank corp. Giving the illusion that USA owes china
@TheTime4solutions I wish more people could or would see this. As for me, I'm done with it. I don't think it can be repaired. I'm ready for the Republic of Texas part II before Texas turns into another Detroit or Toledo. We should never have joined the union in the first place.

They desire a TTC trans Texas corridor, or as i call it RAPE ROADS, like they did in Germany the auto ban is a rape road used to steal the natural resources out of a country and transport them to a new location. Governor RIck Perry has attended the Bilderberg and is considered a traitor by many Texans he is a transplant shill. Texas is a brown state stolen er annexed by USA after the Texans defeated Mexico.

Maybe all those "Americans" out there that refuse to support American businesses in any way WOULD support filling these storefronts with Communists and Illegals? This would create diversity and show the Communists and Illegals that "we're" not haters? Communism enjoys a vast support network in America now.
The next leg down is very close. Just look at the lackluster performance of the stock markets and the value of the USD vs other currencies. Silver/gold is holding up well.
@smasila the performance of the market is manipulated and controled, google the executive branch plung protection team. Not to mention that the counsel on forign markets within the federal reserve private corporation, they create the money out of thin air digitized and not accountable to anyone so to think they do not control the market would be niave. We see everything in a planned destruction except the market. Where they have complete corporate ownership.
The immenate collapse is a fact. Don't spend time on proving this. Better start making plans for your own survival.
The EXP (exponential factor) is unavoidable.
have a plan for the wurst case scenario. What harm does it do if you prepare yourself for disasters and in the end they don't come. No wurries then. But what if a disaster comes and you don't have yourself prepared???
follow the money to find the truth. A private corporation creates the money digitized at no cost out of thin air. They loan the money at a compounded interest rate to their installed puppet government, thus creating a false debt, a creditor debtor relationship with the creditor the master and the debtor as the slave. Using this fictious debt as justification they then apply an extorted theft called tax a debt slave control vehicle. A debt slave population of immoral cowardly submitters.
Once upon a time... this plaza was booming! this plaza began to go down as soon as convergence left for India. This is a shame really considering this part of Toledo is probably the better part of Toledo with the highest household income. Southwyck, Southland, the plaza on Heatherdowns and Reynolds, and many more establishments on Reynolds are all... dead
This is what every city in America looks like. It is called a man made depression brought to you by a criminal Federal Reserve. This is what happens when less than 1% of the population gets to counterfeit money at the expense of all the rest of us. These banksters are a parasite on society.
@MrStrman since the federal reserve bank corporation is a corporation, a non human entity, I submit to blame this entity is futile. I suggest that the responsible parties are the owner hence controler. We see a corp being owned by other corps the member banks creating an additional non human layer, But when we examine the owners of the member banks we see several families, then when we look at the families we see all trails lead to only one family name responsible for humanities enslavement.
@MrStrman The FED began with approximately 300 people or banks that became owners (stockholders purchasing stock at $100 per share - the stock is not publicly traded) The FED banking system collects billions of dollars (Reference 8, 17) in interest annually and distributes the profits to
@MrStrman its shareholders Rothschild Bank of London Warburg Bank of Hamburg Rothschild Bank of Berlin Lehman Brothers of New York Lazard Brothers of Paris Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York Israel Moses Seif Banks of Italy Goldman, Sachs of New York Warburg Bank of Amsterdam Chase Manhattan Bank of New York and the reality is all of these are owned by the same one family.
My mother and sister live in Toledo. Last summer we watched while the sheriff threw her neighbors out of their home up the block. I tell people it's like an election year where there are so many signs in the yards, except these signs are for sale and foreclosure signs instead of signs of candidates for office. Keep up the citizen reporting. It's the only way to get the truth of what is happening.

Silver/gold is holding up well.
smasila 1 year ago

Southwyck, Southland, the plaza on Heatherdowns and Reynolds, and many more establishments on Reynolds are all... dead

Hah, nail salons. My girlfriend could be deep in debt, broke as hell, and would still find a way to get her nails done for an exorbitant price.

This is what every city in America looks like. It is called a man made depression brought to you by a criminal Federal Reserve. This is what happens when less than 1% of the population gets to counterfeit money at the expense of all the rest of us. These banksters are a parasite on society.
MrStrman 1 year ago
