  • That tank is basically the same as the M1 but with reinforced reactive armor and thermal camo coat, makes it allot more stealthy but with the extra armor it sacrifices speed and mobility so I'd say it's just the same but with a thermal coat camo.

  • @TangAppy "That tank is basically the same as the M1" Not likely. The latest M-1 is 70+ tonnes and the original gulf war version was 60+ tonnes , this TK-x is only 44 tonnes. It cant have "extra armor" and be 30 tonnes lighter, while being slower !

  • Japan has the right to develop its army just as much as everyone else. Germany has done so, yet we do not prosecute them for it now do we? And the same goes for Italy.

  • dammmmn did ya see that Abrams got lifted now thats a bomb!

  • OMG because of the roadlaws it had be made weaker so it weights less. WTF is that shit!?! It's a very nice tank but that's one F*CKED UP Law you have there Japan

  • why do they need tanks its not like they have any significant amount of land that they need to protect lol

  • @cardude1992 It's a matter of "just in case", perhaps.

  • LOL there is so little open space in Japan the tanks parade ground is the carpark of a block of flats.

  • Godzilla is in for a surprise next time! Ehehehehehe!

  • @kwmkc13 you son of a bitch. i wanted to do a godzilla joke...

  • Bye Bye Yankee M1 !

  • @Golmoradi1984 you are joking right? M1 got replaced a while ago.

  • @MuslimApostate

I was going to say M1 Abrams. That tank which the US right now. Well this Japenese here kicks ass!

  • @Golmoradi1984 U mean the M1A1 correct? That is more advanced then the M1 Abrams and even that has now been replaced by the new M2 so please know what your talking about before opening your mouth. Your so called info on american tanks is clearly outdated. And these are only the tanks that are shown to the public. America keeps its most advanced tanks and other hardware out of world view and have seen for myself a small amount of whats being stored if there is ever a major conflict.

  • @MuslimApostate

Well, till then. Hoping there isn´t going to come one. But if..

  • @MuslimApostate LoL at all you debaters. Russians are like "POWER RUSSSIA!!!!111" and you americans are like "teehee our government has secrets!". Both are just ways to avoid the situation where you have to re-estimate your country's arsenal. Besides M1 tank series uses British armor planting, so much for your "secrets". Maybe the biggest secret of all is, that you're not even nearly as capable as you say.

  • @OnlyLifeMatters hey i get my facts based on what i see not wha others tell me which is clearly what you do. Uk never gave the US armor plating anymore then it gave the US the tomahawk missle (another myth). The US has always taken the lead on military hardware based on the shear funding and money spent compared to the UK and other countries which is more then the rest of the world combined. You really think the US doesn't already have an edge 10 years ahead of the rest of the worlds tanks?

  • @MuslimApostate Your technological lead is based on what you stole from the Nazis during the final days of the WW2. Horton Ho prototypes and German missile technology etc. Sure there are many american innovations, kudos to you. But did you know that in one German technological university they have developed Optical Camouflage?

  • @OnlyLifeMatters every single pice of military technology you see today was"copied"off the germans. it wasnt JUST the US. russia and the UK also profited from german tech.

  • @OnlyLifeMatters we use cimmilar armor but the abrams armor is is made of diffrent componits. The M1A2 Abrams it the only tank to incorporate Uranieum in it armor incressing is survivabilty incredibly and the germans copied stuff off of the us aswell. the torshin bar suspention is a american invention but the us government wasent intrested in it so the american inventer sold the specs to russia and the germans copied off the T34 during WW2

  • @hummerskickass In addition the Japanese ZERO, was a Hughes Aircraft design, same story, the U.S. didn't want it, so Japan bought it... later, they used it to attack Pearl Harbor... oops.

  • @doceigen- stating the Zero was a Hughes Aircraft design is a common misconception. If you go by that yardstick, then all single radial engine fighters of WW 2 were a Hughes aircraft design- Fw 190, Zero, La-7, P-47, et. al. Most experts will agree with me on this

  • @rickd013 I disagree, in fact I'll go so far as to say that I believe Jiro Horikoshi refuted that claim based on an over aggrandized national pride, as it was not just its radial engine, but also the geometry of the chassis, location and shape of the lifting bodies, and the overall general proportions involved as well as other subtleties, which reveals its true heritage. People should not be embarrassed to admit that 'innovation rather than invention', is at the root of their work.

  • @doceigen actually, many claims that the Zero was a copy of this plane or that stemmed from Allied propaganda, to include Mr. Hughes' claim. A close examination of both aircraft reveal significant differences between them. Combat aircraft are designed to meet a certain set of specifications. Were the Zero a "copy" there would not be obvious differences between the two planes. Horikoshi admitted that the inspiration for the landing gear came from the Vought V-143.

  • @rickd013 So you are saying he stole from many different planes, not just the H-1, OK that's consistent.

  • @doceigen No, he said that was the only thing that was inspired by a foreign aircraft in the design of the Zero. The point is he was a big enough man to admit where he did get inspiration for something he did not come up with. But, I guess, to use a cliche, we will have to agree to disagree.

  • @rickd013 Just a note, maybe he personally hated Hughes?! People are insane, so it's possible he did and so refused to admit anything more, in fact using an admission of one similarity to supposedly prove the honestly implicit to his integrity. Criminals do that all the time, admitting to one crime, to prove through inference that they did not commit another, after all... they'd have admitted that too... right?

  • The thing has auto loader!!! Leopards need auto loader!!

  • Design = Leopard2A6

  • looks like a tweaked leopard with more technology and CVT. that's a good thing considering the leopard is one of the best tanks

  • Yes, because the nuclear plants were a problem in 2008...

  • fuck the tanks do something about your nuclear power plants!!!

  • The only and the main threat Japan faces from a foreign country is North Korea. A large tank with a massive gun and armor wouldn't be needed because their best tanks are old coldwar era tanks. Mobility is more needed against threats like north korea which would probably use RPG's against the tank. Plus the type10 also has anti RPG systems too. This want wasn't meant to defeat other big lumbering tanks tanks like the M1, lepoard 2, merkava etc.

  • @chaoticblue5000 I'd say this has more to do with China.

  • 1:12 that Abrams was not destroyed, even not hurt

  • @devilazpl Ok, buddy.

  • Looks like a modified Leopard 2 with an anti-guerrilla emphasis. Not a bad tank, but a Leopard 2 or a Merkava will still beat it. It's not the first or only tank with "modular armor" either.

PS. Doesn't Christel Takigawa look nice? After all, she's half White. White = "suspicious gaijin", half White half jap = TV face

  • Comment removed

  • @Scorpios88

Yeah right..The Type 90 beat out the Leo 2 at Calflex...

Half white half jap? You must be a yank. Always addicted to making moronic racial comments...

  • @Toyman07 And you must be some Liberal asshole who can only make the prejudged statement that anyone who dissagrees with you is a "racist." Yes, you are correct. But Type 10 still has a long way to go. Type 90 is, in many ways, a better weapon. :P

  • @Toyman07 right like europeans are such tolerant individuals (holocaust/atlantic slave trade cough cough)?

  • @Scorpios88 Nice speculations there bud. "But a Leopard 2 or a Merkava will still beat it." Based on what evidence? What facts? Once again, pure speculation. "It's not the first or only tank with modular armor either" Did they at ANY time make the claim that the type 90 was the first/only tank to have modular armor?? No. Way to jump to conclusions troll.

  • awwww it can't turn into robot mode :(

  • @Evilsnowman2213 : You wont want them making weapons again. They put their industrial might into weapons, you will be the one doing kamikaze.

  • @TechCrazy guesswhere they get there weapons tech and funding for thm from? The US. I would know i worked in yokosuka naval base and the location of the contruction parts for many of japans weapons.

  • we need a lot of tanks to afghanistan. send some 10,000 of these and another 10,000 of the south korea's XK2

  • @jabes2007 Though that would be "fun" or "cool", you can't hunt Taliban in caves with tanks.

  • @deadeyeselh time to call the IRA. these guys can hunt down these talibans. If the price is right.

  • @jabes2007 Guerrilla warfare groups are only successful within their own home territory where they have support from their local populous (manpower, intel, shelter, supply, etc). You can't just drop an IRA operative in an unfamiliar environment and assume they succeed in a theatre with different terrain, culture, language, and people. Guerrilla tactics are defensive in nature, fighters choose when and where to fight the invaders, and when and where to retreat. But only on their home turf.

  • Looks like a Leopard 2A6 with a hint of Merkava on the turret armor.

  • It looks like a mini leopard 2 A6 tank, gun is Leopard 2 L44. It seems this tank get many idea from leopard 2 tank.

  • well this tank is goin to fail just like its world war 2 brothers

  • well this tank is goign to fail just like its world war 2 brothers

  • Dose it transform into Mecha?!

  • where is the wanzers? come on its 2010!!!

  • i order mines at WallMart already

  • Ally with Vietnam army to kick ass China.

  • looks slow as fuck, I think I'd spend my time building a walking flying terminator machine like a Gundam, with gau for guns, missiles.

  • That tank looks like a scorpion to me. Badass looking !

  • Why do they call Apartments "Mansion" in Japan ?? Whats up with that ?? Also its funny how the commentator's describe the tank. It's like some JDrama. ROFL>

  • starting building gundams as well...

  • i still like the abrams better

  • can i buy one at my local mitsubishi dealership?

  • 1:38 kitteh in the battlefield!

  • 1:26 no AFV in production today or in the next 20 years could have withstood that and remained operational. Dumb PR move to show that video clip in conjunction with the un-veiling of Japans new MBT, which would have performed even worse in the same situation than the Abrams.

  • This tank won Type90 easily at a sham battle.

    3 Type10 beated tactical training group's 14 Type90.

  • That is one badd ass Nissan

  • The reporter explain this tank is small because this tank was built to use for the domestic street-fighting. But I think this tank is small because this tank is transported to enemy territory by transport ship. I think his main enemy is North Korea.

  • @gondwana

May be considering the transportation by railway. Japanese LCAC is big enough for any type of Tank.

  • Can the cannon be used in a performance...!?? Argument is after that!!!

  • only 44t it can only fit for japanese too light to stand a round from a 125mm gun

  • @xixinan it has 3 man crew. additonal crew member (the loader) adds another 10 tons to the tank. if u want to compare to Leopard, check their Type90 tank. this a smae Type90 minus th eloader, thus less weight, with the same armor package. and for that matter who said leopard2 has better armor than, lets say Challanger2 or M1A4 SEP? or even Merkava4? i havent heard of any Leos in tank-to-tank battles to speak of their performance, but ive heard a read enough on M1s, Challanger2s, and Merkava.

  • type 90 it's not famous for it's armor, it has a great targeting and fire control system. the defense capability more likely at the same level as Russian T 90S or south Korean k1. even type 10 is able to achieve the level of armor of type 90. thats still late twenty century capacity. as i said before,it can't stand a round of HEAT from 2500m range. there are another problem for japanese. type 10 is going to be expensive!!! as all previous Japanese produced weapon systems.

  • @xixinan for your information, HEAT rounds destructive capacity is not influenced by its firing distance, maybe u meant APFSDS ???...as i said before, its too early to judge the tanks armor package before it will see the real battle. also Leclerc is similar in its dimentions as T10...during the gulf war in 90s, there sere several friendly fire incidents M1 on M1..guess what, the target was destroyed. so its not abut the wight..modern rounds can do a lot of damage.

  • @tbilisicentral yea APFSDS is right. I'm not sure what types of gun this tank is using. it will be better if it can fire anti tank missiles. and the design of this tank is intend for anti insurgency and guerrilla warfare. i don't think it will scores well on international market (6 million a piece) but i guess it's enough for a defense force. and the mountainous terrain in Japan are not suited for heavy tanks battle anyway.

  • @xixinan tank most probably will have a licenced built Rheinmettal 120mm. rounds will include all types used for 120mm guns - APFSDS, HEAT, shrapnel, so called "shotgun shells" as well as guided AT missiles.

all Japanese weaponry stays at home, they dont export weapons. legal issues. and as far as japanese terrain goes, JDF will likely to operate them: 1- at possible points of enemy infiltration - the coast line. and 2 - in theaters of operations along with M1/Challenger2/Leo2 tanks.

  • Leopard comes, Leopard shoots, Leopard wins

  • @dmaster0047

    Very true!!

  • Eco tank♪

  • The Next World war is Not of Tanks Its All About Nucks

  • @djsam313 and HAARP

  • I bet this tank can transform into a GUNDAM . Alsofrom secret sources it has an electro-magnetic field wich can slow the velocity of the projectile in order to evade it :D ...you know like Neo in Matrix.

  • what a beast

  • oh f****!!!!

  • バンザイ日本

  • like m1a1

  • RPG

    perhaps on the tracks,

but it is protected by metal plate.

  • @LewisYounger16

if japan start exporting which they are unable to now,

they may dominate the tank market based on price n quality

look at toyota, nissan nikon sony honda and compare it with

western motorcycle car camera n etc

  • @hlimkb

yeah but how suited will it be to desert locations?

japan is dense. The middle eastern places kuwait would be the prime buyers

    And come on, triumph?

  • @LewisYounger16

by law they cannot sell weapon abroad,

    south korea can

  • @LewisYounger16 Japan has a strict policy of not exporting its weapons. Its pacifist.

  • @TruthAndKnowledge get involved in one lousy World War and Exterminate a few million people and all of sudden BAM! you become pacifist....... I just dont get it.

    );

  • @hlimkb

plus tanks are slowly losing attraction, lots of people are learning how to engage and defeat them

  • Nothing special. Maybe it's because I don't understand. Translation would be perfect.

  • powered by Honda?

  • YES !! Mechs are the way to go. Maybe this tank is a transformer in disguise?

  • I think they said they fix the problem with gas pedal.

  • 英語のコメントが殆どだけど、ここに書き込みしてる連中は日本語理解出来るの?

    日本人なら、あまり関心のないニュースだね。

  • そうか?国防の要だぞww関心無い奴は馬鹿か左翼だけだろ

  • they mentioned rpgs a lot

  • I wonder if any components are made by Toyota?

    ;)

  • @akmarksman

err... I reckon only mitsubishi heavy industries would have the capability to build these...

  • its obvious.

    Protection against Godzilla!!

    ;)

  • Well Japan does not need tanks to use them. What if they get sold. Like the German tanks Leopards 1/2.

You can make alot of money by selling good tanks to countries that need them but can't build them.

Play Station 1/2/3 was created in japan now whole world is buing them.

I love Japan alot because they are very very respectful people.

Also they are very cleaver people. Their cities are great, their economy is one of the strongest in the world.

    With love from Kosova.

  • Finally, a New Tank to talk about. I wonder what Japan will use it For? Japan Dont have allot of Tank Experiance in a War? and this looks to me that Japan has made a Tank that is really Good, but only inside Japan itself. I wonder when we will know what Specs of this Thing, it looks Good.

  • Although Japanese has got little chance to deploy their MBT outside Japan after the end of WW2, but that doesn't mean they have no such intention. Japanese has never given up the ambition of being the top East-Asian power, at least equal to China. How can a powerful country without world-class MBT? That is what their thought. You can explore on the Internet to find out the specs.

  • @LerhChang

i understand that, that Japan and China allways have been Rivals to each other in order to make the best and more Weapons then Korea or each other? they mentioned that the Tank was build to test it and use it against a Possible war against Noth Korea?

  • yea it does look good but japan dont have a big military to protect itsself from its neighbors

  • @goarmy979

Japan doesnet have an Army, but the JSDF ''Japan self Defence Group'' wich is highly trained and extremly effective. they havent had any exdperience with wars, but they are training to go to Afghanistan, i heard?

  • @ThePanzerWarMachine, Japan was in Afghanistan but bailed in 2007. Their mission when they were there was support.

  • @orlock20

I beleive so that they went to iraq back in '07. Japan doesnt have an army but a JSDF wich seriously kicks ass! ( atleast, i was told...)

  • @goarmy979 yea but that's where we come along...

  • @goarmy979 but we got big navy

  • Strange that Japan is developing a lighter tank when the rest of the world is packing on armor to their existing tanks.

  • maybe they plan on filling their tanks with explosives and drive them into enemy forces. kinda worked for them before.

  • i depends how you use it ;-)

  • i thought the treaty said defensive weapons only

  • Nice vid buddy :)

  • Strange to think my grandfather fought the Japs and my children may well be fighting alongside them in the next big one.

  • one hell of a tank

  • A bunker would be a better choice!

  • in my oppinion, this tanks much better looking.. but the best tanks suites for several factor such as, mobility, speed, firepower and terrain and the most important technology to detect 1st rather than compromise itself from being destroyed by rpg's and anti-tanks.

  • Nazi is the 2nd best

  • A tank can always be rebuilt. Its not about the survivability of the tank, its about the survivability of the crew inside.

  • lol... if its all about survivality, then they should built 1600mm thick armor and not install a barrel... what do you think???

  • @Gordonalways1 thats were the challenger 2 beats most, the tank takes minor repairable damage against "most" IED's (todays main threat to a tank), and the crew inside more often than not walk away. All this rubbish about tanks being better because they can take other tanks out is exactly that....rubbish, because were would they do that today the cold war is over tanks are deployed against terrorists these days and they dont have tanks just big assed rd side bombs.

  • i think they have the best armor maybe i doesn't know what he said, but in the video show that the Japanese have make some research about explosion from war. Example the destroyed from M12A Abraham from mine explosive, RPG and many more. That's why they know how to prevent the tank from being destroyed. I think this will be number 1 best tank in the world. Banzai for japan.....

  • we will never know. Japan will never use its tanks in battle...

  • of course japan will never use it's tanks in battlefield because as a military in their country, it should be a secret to the outside because they never want the tanks technology being exposed. Example M12A Abraham armor are American show the weakness of the tank. No isn't it, Same as this, but the test armor maybe have being made in this country. Actually i hate big tanks, Small tank are suitable for geography terrain than a big tank that is the weakness of the tanks.

  • wow this is my dreams tanks should looks like. The best tank should be small, light, best armor, best firepower and suitable for all terrain. Japan so lucky but their tank are great than american tanks. Nice banzai....

  • whoaah...

    a beautiful tank!

its more fear looking than the american

  • 1:14・・・!!

  • Were damn lucky Nippon is on our side now. BANZAI!!

  • @majmambo

    hahaha

  • This thing is 44ton?

  • Yes, this one put on 4ton of add-armour.

  • I think my country is making a big mistake..... we should buy this one istead of the 48 ton PT-91M....

  • to saledin1:

    ouhhh... PT-91M? u must be a malaysian....

but unfortunately, this tank is not for sale... japan made their weapon's technology top secret, thats y they've never show u the inside of the tank... only photos if it... they've never even sold any of their previous tanks bcause they r like de most hated nation in de region, eg: by china, N & S korea & some asian countries.

  • @rakyatsingapura I know.... that's why, we copy as many as possible of their technologies in engineering industry.... & use this old phrase "Japanese technology, Malaysian style".... well, it ain't half bad (thanks to the BLOOD SUCKING MIDDLE MAN), but at least, we get the taste of their technologies......

    :)

  • wow ! this must be the best tank !!!

  • @Danushk0 not bad , not bad , nice tank

  • OH MAN JAPAN BUILT THE TIMBERWOLF

  • and the Japanese are so small this tank doubles as a troop carrier. i expected it to be white with lots of glass like all their shitty concept cars.

  • lol, sleaker M1A2.

  • cmon japan, just start building mechs already

  • abrams going to town!lol

  • O.k Start ww3 see what happen

  • Looks like a good tank. Good job Japan!!

  • why are they wearing such gay helmets?

  • It's standard field helmets, construction workers and field operators use them for head protection in hazardous environments.

  • 1:26 abrahm destroyed! that land mine are too powerful.

  • Fire at Kimchi jong il ass.

  • @ukrainesuperpower87

maybe not before but this looks like a good piece...

Also it kinda looks a little like a leo2a6 :P

  • very similar to leo2. very true. it's plagiarism... sucks

why japs can not develop their own tank style design like russians and germans did

  • @ukrainesuperpower87

Well who knows, maybe germany sold them some technology.

As we all now, Germany doesnt just make the best weapons but also make comercial succes out of them by selling them to allies.
