all game developers are too afraid to take new risks to invent something new, replacing their old tradional games. From Street Fighter 4 to Mortal Kombat 9, we all can see, old characters being used again and again, and the story moved backward rather than forward. It's not only happened in games, but movies as well, XMen, LOTR, etc. Blame the financial market for making all games and movies producers to avoid taking bigger risks.

The only thing I didn't like from the new story was SAndel single handedly killing off almost everybody, though I will say that it did lead to a pretty cool scene with Nightwolf.

Not only was the game amazing, but the reboot story was good as well. My only problem with it is that everyone ends up being killed off save for Cage, Sonya, and Raiden. I suspect some characters will be resurrected for MK 10, but Netherworld Studios is going to have their work cut out for them creating a whole new cast of characters for the next game because to be fair, many of the new fighters introduced in the games folowing MK 4 just weren't as cool as many of the originals.

I wouldn't choose "No one dies in MK" to describe it. This is not 1995's mk3 ending. This is a totally different course of events. It kinda looks like a retelling only because Raiden fails in every attempt to change the story. But this ending is different from MK3. If there's a MK10, it won't be a retelling of MK4 cuz NOW they are all DEAD (well, they're zombies now). It would be a different scenario for whatever Shinnok is planning.

I love this game, but the story could have been a little better with the ending. Having Raiden essentially say, "No Liu Kang! Our master plan is to let him take our stuff then when he starts gloating that he took our stuff we shout, 'daddy! Daddy! No really, add the characters from the 4th game and a few from the ones after it, and have this Story Mode with options like having Cyber Sub-zero or Cyber Smoke and continue with the 4th games story, that way you can more or less fix what Raiden screwed up, at least that's how I see the next step in the series.

@cnwanah apparently when he dies his soul returns to his temple somewhere in earthrealm and he revives, he cant really die, so really he could of come back, but then again khan could have take his soul, then he wouldn't be able to come back, because at that point the realms are fused and he has no power in outworld, so whos to say that his temples been destoyed or somthing ?? i agree with you though

Here's the thing: Raiden's not an asshole. It's not even his fault. Raiden is very poorly written in this story. He says throughout the whole story that Shao Kahn can't merge realms without winning in mortal kombat. Shao Kahn keeps trying to invade. From the moment Kahn invaded, Raiden could've walked right up to him and said "you win" and sealed the deal. But no, we've gotta have Raiden let everyone down before the glorious win. It's just bad writing.
