  • Arthur Smith as the milkman, ha ha ha. Great stuff.

  • 4:10 LOL

  • MORNING MILKY!

  • Richie's hairstyle cracks me up hahaha

  • @breezizzle The back of his head that he shavedwith a Bic razor lol

  • Lol is there any difference between the young ones this and bottom? :p

  • @CHRISIDDON17 the young ones is about a bunch of college rejects, this is about wealthy businessmen, and bottom is about the two guys from filthy rich and catflap hitting rock bottom and living in the slums

  • @gwarriorfromhell

    I dont think so!!!!!!

In Filthy Rich n Catflap there is Eddie Catflap and Richie Rich.

In Bottom there is Eddie Hitler and Richard Richard.

Get you facts right if you're trying 2 educate.

Oh yeah, in The Young Ones, they're still at college, they just don't go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @donroberto85 well my bad! lol, i was going off of what i figured out from the shows and i didnt know there was a difference of going to college and being in college. and the reason i put the other two together is because of eddie and richie, i didnt think of their different last names until after i saw your comment

  • @gwarriorfromhell It's ok my mukka, i was being extra pedantic last nite lmao!!!

  • @donroberto85 Edward Elizabeth Hitler lol

  • @gwarriorfromhell No...

Bottom is about two men who try desperately to get "birds".

    They're 2 different men.

  • Youll see just how talented Richie is when he gets a job doing standup in a strip club and i defy anyone to not laugh out loud when he goes for a perv in "the nolan sisters dressing room" HAHA.Mayall is at his very best and at the end of the last episode as the credits rolled we were told that "it would be back in the autunm with a 2nd series but it was never heard of again??.I KNOW WHY, Ben Elton knew there was no point he could deliver this quality ever again and focused on his novels.ENJOY

  • @martymore1 I agree completely. This didnt get the recognition that it deserved. Mayall was brilliant in this.

  • This was the next comedy series about 2

Years after the young ones.without a shadow of a doubt this is Ben Eltons finest moment and he admits it himself.ANYONE who prefer Bottom & happens to be a big fan of Alan Partridge (which I am) isn't looking at this correctly.Richie Rich is in the same mentally Ill deluded talentless tragic egomaniac

  • @martymore1 (cont)........ "I AM A SHOWBIZ GOD AND WILL INSULT EVERYONE WHO CROSSES MY PATH " as the great Partridge but our hero Richie is 1000 times more exagerated and this is where the jewel of this work lies hidden.Partridge was down on his luck after the second series of his chatshow was never commisioned but he did have a run as a houshold name.THIS ARSEHOLE RICHIE only ever read "1 continuity link on TVS in 1972 and since then truly believed "HE WAS GOD" fucking hillarious.

  • Respond to this video... God bless ya Tijean

  • This is brilliant. Ive never seen it before, only the young ones and bottom

  • was this made after bottom or before? and is it based after it

  • @mikey3565 it was made before bottom

  • @scenekidz4life awesome thanks for telling me i wish i was this age now in the 90s when they came out only just started watching them really

  • love these guys, bottom is god dam funny. never heard of this series good upload thanks. :)

  • "How to hide the corpse" reminds me of the episode of Bottom entitled Gasman.

Thanks for uploading these, very much appreciated.

  • Anyone saying they're not slashy hasn't seen Bottom Live Shows...

  • Right, I really want to like this show. Tried to watch before and it left me with a sad, "Young Ones but not quite" sorta feeling.

  • @AtticusStount I'd say it's more a mix of young ones and bottom

  • how come they had such a nice flat and then just a few years later they lived in such a shit tip in Bottom?

  • @MOONST0MP Filthy Rich and Catflap was made in 1987, Yuppie paradise, while Bottom started in 1991, in the middle of a recession

  • @madjack18 Yeah I know. Suposedley there was a recession?? I dont remember it. In 1991 all you had to do to get a job was walk in the job centre and get one. There was loads of work around. There was in the buildin trade anyway. In 1991 When ever I got pissed off with a job I just jacked it in and started another the same week. Unlike today. No chance of that!!

  • is that the same set as men behaving badly?

  • A BIG ira on the wall lol

  • XD god they always crack me up "i know it looked sexy "

  • You can tell Ben Elton wrote this. Politics and Light Entertainment jokes? Who else...?

  • I wonder if the Richie and Eddie in this are the same as the characters in Bottom. If not, then they don't really have much originality with their names. Don't get me wrong, they're both fantastic comedians. But they could've expanded on the names a little :3

  • @drponyslayer well this ran for one series but they went on to develop bottom instead later on because this didnt quite make it or get popular, bottom suited them much better and had funnier episodes and characters.

  • god you are a bunch of self absorbed cunts!

  • @Ericzeppe. He's still tweeting away- are you sure he's dead?

  • Hahaha this is just like Bottom Gas, instead of a Gasman it's a Milkman they kill! :D

  • RIP Ade

    You will be missed

  • @Ericzeppe I didn't know he died! When did it happen?

  • Yesterday, when he was feuling his car. a drunk german hit him :(

  • @actorben Never hes not dead!!

  • @Ericzeppe Adrian is not dead there is no official obituary declaring it nor a news heading.

  • milk man gas man

  • such a shame when the dvd's were relesed there was loads cut off, fortunatley i have a video we recorded when it was on tv with the uncut episodes :)

  • @thetwilightzone100 will u upload them?

  • this is the bottom pro show

  • rik mayall always plays characters where he has to wear his pants increadably high lol <3

  • @theweirdkids1 no i think hes just like that lol its cute tho rite?

  • @ilovefreddykrueger13 very cute1 lol i love rik mayall especially in the young ones oh and drop dead fred of course

  • Rik singing in the beginning always cracks me up

  • Somehow, I saw this as Vyvs and Ricks (from young ones) future.

  • "All I asked for was a quick once over, and what I get is an erotic cabaret".

    lol

if anyone thinks their interaction is blatantly "gay".... you need to hang around more gay dudes. cos they wouldn't be caught dead wearing/acting this way ;p

  • funny shit

  • Richie and Eddie kept the same characters for Bottom XD only eddie got more drunk

  • one of the funniest god damn episodes in the history of mankind!

  • i'm wondering if anyone can help me out-there was another show way back when that i could swear had rik mayall in it or involved in it that came out after the young ones finished. it dealt with a bunch of people living in an abandoned(?) shopping mall but i can't find any references to it and i remember it being funny as hell too. anyone know what it was?

  • You can tell they're both having fun - I don't mean in a gay way, I mean just doing comedy acting together =) x

  • Ade's delicious :)

  • this is great stuff, Nigel Planer is so good in this as Filthy. I think it's this episode where Adrian Edmonson does a long extended pratfall allaround the living room ending up sprawled across Filthy on the sofa. :D

  • this makes me so happy ya know!I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove it!

  • ive seen the bottom series and the youngs ones and guest house paradiso, ive never seen this though,im off to amazon,i cant beleive ive never seen this.these two are one of the most awesome duo ever, cant wait to buy it,thanks uploader.

  • aww sweet another rik mayhall comedy i havent heard of this one

  • this type of humour some people think is homosexual it isnt and humour like this is what has them got so far in life they are hilarious thank god my parents got me watching young ones-bottom never be same without it :P

  • this was the prelude to bottom. :) brilliant. i have the series on dvd and noticed some of the jokes used in this series get re worked in bottom. awesome

  • I think this was the basis for 'When the Whistle Blows'

  • im starting to think that this is a prequal to bottom.

  • Eddie Hitler and Richard Richard, when they first ever met... -sighhhh-

  • "The most attractive person in the world" he isnt wrong there, ADE IS THE MOST ATTRACTIVE PERSON IN THE WORLD :)

  • LOL i LOVE Rik Ade and Nigel :) Rik and Ade are my personal favorite PEOPLE of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Hello Kiddies there is no father Christmas"

  • I only started watching this when they started showing it late night on Dave (At least I think it was Dave). I was already well versed on the likes of The Young Ones and Bottom and although this would come third out of the three related sitcoms, It cirtainly isn't shit, in fact it's very funny, it's just Bottom and TYO's are funnier

  • I agree :D The Young Ones is the best show I have ever seen :D

  • I love Filthy, Rich and Catflap. A great series. I wish they had done more.

  • drinking all that lager would do it haha

  • I prefer Ade Edmonson as Vivian with a mohawk smashing everything!

  • funny how Rik drops back into Kevin Turvey every now and then

  • I think Eddie Catflap would go on to change his last name to Hitler--for kicks, and Richie Rich, not being very creative, chaged his to Richard Richard. they dispse of Filthy, take his money and retire in Hammersmith. would anyone care to fill in the gaps?

  • Yeah! the series was called Bottom. And, it was brilliant

  • YEP!!! BOTTOM IS GREAT :D But I prefer The Young Ones, I have to say

  • You might not be wrong there Jesso!

  • @overkillll That's a bloody good idea! That's it, I'll always imagine that it went that way :DD

  • Thanks for posting this!! Dont think there would be a chance in hell I'd ever get to see this if you hadn't uploaded here - Cheers!

  • its on DVD buddy

  • An absolute TV gem. Completely unhinged but brilliant comedy...but why was this never repeated? To my knowledge it only had one original run on BBC2 1986/87

  • Its like Bottom, but they're younger

  • And they seem to have money

  • and Eddie has got hair!!!!

  • "D-A-E-D... Dead!" LOLOLOLOL :)

  • No they're not gay; lets end that subject.

  • I think they are comfortable enough with their masculinity to not be afraid of the gay stuff, which makes them even SEXIER to us chicks. So all you homophobes out there can suck it.

  • @madaxecho Lol, suck it!

  • @madaxecho So true. The american regime was so paranoid that they banned Bert and Ernie from sleeping in the same bed. Real men aren't afraid of "catching gayness".

  • @madaxecho wat gay stuff

  • @123nickclark Not as gay as your trousers!

  • the bit at 2:36 with the cereal XD made me lol dunno why

  • Without droning on and on about subtext and 'are they or aren't they'........we are fans because it's FUNNY stuff. One of the best things about these guys is that you can watch it twenty times and pick up bits that might have been missed previously.

    These guys are comic GENIUS.

  • in fact, in bottom, filthy rich, young ones, and all rik and ade shows or jokes, there is no subtext at all, gay or otherwise.

that doesnt mean they dont put gay jokes in, but its not hidden in subtext, its right out there.

they specialise in blatant comedy, not trying to put hidden subtext, and arty-farty bulshit in there.

im sure they would piss themselves laughing that people were finding these things in their shows.

how can you say you know they are straight, then ask "are they/arent they"?

  • @w0bbl3r the subtext exists whether they intended it or not - nothing that humans do is one dimensional because we're very complicated animals. and as soon as a piece of work enters the public domain, it stop 'belonging' to the creator - when you watch an episode, it becomes 'yours' in very important ways. anyway - everyone should have their own opinions and not be judged for it. so stop being a silly bully.

  • @Shanniquitie Look, if they didnt write such insinuation, then its not there, is it?

I took a shit this morning, and wouldnt even begin to consider it art. But i suppose then if you got a look at it, you could say all kinds of arty farty stupid bullshit about it, couldnt you? Even hang it on your wall as a statement of modern society in a post 9/11 world?

Youre seeing things that arent there, just face it,

And seeing as my comment is so highly rated supports my claim.

How am I a bully for this?

  • @w0bbl3r

the author/artist is dead - audience create meaning. i'm sorry if breakthroughs in critical theory (since the 80s LOL) havent found their way to whatever backwater you call home.

and you got high ratings cos (SURPRISE) youtube is infested with morons. so yeah. unless you're running for office in a democratic country, what the populus thinks is neither here nor there.

  • @Shanniquitie So if an artist draws/sculpts/creates something that they MEAN to mean one thing, it doesnt REALLY mean that, because you dont want it to?

    How ignorant are you?

What makes something artistic, and what makes someone an artist, is that they depict something in THEIR way, to mean what THEY want it to.

If youre right, I can say the mona lisa is actually a statue, not a painting, and is of a monkey balancing an elephant on its head, while masturbating. Well, thats the SUBTEXT anyway.

  • @Shanniquitie Are you being serrious, or having a laugh, your comments just really remind me of Rik in The Young Ones, I wasn't sure if you really were a prick or if this was a tribute LOL

  • @kezzieb42 lol at last, somebody with a sense of humour

  • Just bought these on DVD, so much fun, but not as good as Bottom and Young Ones, but still great!

  • Aww, Rik Mayall's so cute in this <3

I love slashy Rik/Ade moments - wish there were more!!

  • Grrrrrrrr slash annoys me! They're NOT GAY! It's just good fun. ppl like you make me sick!

  • Woah, calm down... I'm very well aware that they're not gay and that it's a joke.

  • I just happen to find some of the gay innuendo particularly amusing. No harm intended, YOU'RE the one who is taking a light-hearted comment too seriously. :S

  • As I am Rik and Ade fan you can imagine that I am NOT easily offended. I can take a joke knowing that is is a joke, but some things go beyond jokes, and that's why I object to anything yaoi/slash

  • I actually view slash as pretty harmless, not like it's hurting anyone. Also, slash in itself is often inherently a joke. Some of the best comedy plays up to "are they or aren't they?" innuendo (Red Dwarf, The Mighty Boosh etc).

  • am i missing something?

i NEVER thought that this, red dwarf, or any rik and ade shows were even SLIGHTLY "are they or arent they".

people put this innuendo in themselves, where it doesnt exist.

im sure rik and ade find it hilarious that people put so much depth and bullshit into their material

  • Erm... Rimmer and Lister kissed in an episode.

I'm not being academic and saying there's a serious homoerotic subtext. I'm just pointing out that there's a rather blatant ongoing gay joke, which is especially evident in the later Bottom live shows.

  • no, its not.

the characters are blatantly straight, and so is the material. anyone who adds more is finding things that arent there. or that arent there INTENTIONALLY.

back when this was written, and when red dwarf was written, there was never such a thing as gay "subtext" in mainstream, or alternative, comedy.

and there mostly isnt now. people just find what isnt really there.

its like saying "oh, this painting of a woodland scene is SOOOO sad, even though it is obviously a happy painting"

  • Yes, I know the characters & the material are straight. But there still are GAY JOKES and they're not hard to spot. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't seen much Rik & Ade. And that's all it is - a joke. I never said there was an underlying romantic plot.

  • "back when this was written, and when red dwarf was written, there was never such a thing as gay "subtext" in mainstream, or alternative, comedy.

    and there mostly isnt now."

Haha, that's a pretty bold thing to say. I wonder how you acquired this info?

  • gay jokes is not the same as gay subtext. a gay joke in this, or bottom, or anything like that, is blatant. subtext is something that is more subtle, and something that i dont personally look for. i just want to laugh when i watch these, not wonder if they meant something else when they wrote it. thats why, back in the day, gay jokes were either there or not, there was no gay subtext. watch are you being served; gay jokes are BLATANT, that is not the same as hiding it in subtext.

  • rik has been amazing in everything he has done n this is one of the best performances he has done lol xxxxx

  • Gosh I thought I'd seen everything Rik and Ade had done, but I NEVER saw these until today!!

    Gosh that was so funny!!!!!!!

Question: Was this just after The Young Ones?

  • mate i used to watch this when i was about 20 , fucking classic comedy

  • Oh I agree, Rik and Ade RULE.

And it's MISS :D hee hee

  • yea it was aired in 1987 :)

  • Yep,this was the "sequel".;p

  • lol. things with rik mayall that I have watched so far that I reccomend is:

    Bottom

    The new Statesman

    Drop dead fred

    the young ones

    and now this.

    yayyyy

  • Him and Ade were both in Blackadder as awell

  • I love them period!

  • Is it just me who thinks this is some of thier best work? I have seen all episodes so many times and they never get old. Glad to see that there is people still loving it, everyone I know has no idea what Filthy Rich is.

  • no i agree!

i have this on DVD and i watch it nearly every night x]

i wish they'd done more i love it so much ):

  • ok, that's hysterical. those are the same pj's he used in bottom. lol!!!

  • "a rather unpleasant rash in my trousers " *LMAO* !!!

  • I love this show... and the young ones.... and bottom....but the danngerous brothers is a bit much.

  • I hear you there LOL "i'm still sexy thank god for me" LOL

  • wow yet another show with rik and ade.

  • ...I don't understand the gesture Eddie makes at 4:29.

  • He is trying to tell the milkman he had his head up his ass

  • Oh wow! That is so uncanny! Ritchie has got exactly the same excersie regime as I do!

  • ooo sexy sexy milky ;)

    LMAO

  • im totally 100% naked now hehe j

  • top m8

  • Ade reminds me a little bit of Graham Chapman, haha.

This show is great, these guys are gods!

  • This series is OK, I have it on DVD, I pretty much love anything with Rik & Ade, they are bloody brilliant, but I have to say out of everything i've seen of their's so far this is my least favourite. Its good but not great like Bottom & The Young Ones, still good to have it though & see how the guys have progressed over the yrs. Riks hair in this is just...oh dear, lol. He's a brave boy getting his wig chopped like that, bless, long live rik and ade!

  • Really? Even worse than the dangerous brothers?

  • eddy sounds like eddy off botom and vivian off the young ones

  • cnt remba is this after or b4 bottom i think b4 but cnt remba

  • its b4 by the looks of it

  • yeh cuz Eddy has hair lol and richie has well yeh

  • shame this only lasted 1 series. if it made it up to say 3 series, then this, the young ones and bottom would have made a great dvd boxset!

  • God I love the theme music to this show :D

  • Love the Rik/Ade connection. Love The Young Ones. Love Filty Rich. Love Bottom. Love the Comic Strip. But, LOVE the dangerous Brothers the best :D

  • I love these guys, Im glad this episode comes on the Young Ones DVD. Bottom is still my fav.

  • Love the intro the music is great.

  • I Love this. There should have been a second series at the time. When I bought the dvd the opening sequence shown here-the "Morning has broken" song was cut as was other bits so thanks for this.

  • Love it

  • Yes: please post more!

This show isn't available on region 2 DVD (North America), and there is maybe one copy available on VHS Pal transfer in San Francisco. And I don't want to drive across town and rent it again. Please?..Go ahead, pop one out.

  • plz get more, plz, the last person got kicked off and i lost all my favs of it

  • they are so slashy :)

  • There is no real continuity between this programme and The Young Ones or Bottom. They play slightly different characters with slightly different names. This was basically a stepping stone between the two shows, funny though!

  • LMFAO, Remember seein this Years ago!!!

The Characters were pre Bottom / Post Young ones.

Still think some of their best work was early days comic strip or The Dangerous Brothers..

    Thanks for postin

  • where is hugh laurie alfons

  • it's from the young one's!not botom.Because eddie's surname in bottom is hitler and in this its catflap.

  • alot of the humour is from bottom tho, bit of a mix really

  • are they supposed to be the same characters as in bottom or i they just called richie and eddie

  • Yep...This is 'Early Bottom'

  • no its not its a spin off from the young ones

  • Dont think The Young Ones has been mentioned has it?

We are all talking about Bottom...not the Young Ones!

  • No, Richie and Ade HAHAH!!!

  • I think this group of comedians and writers were only really good doing the acutely observed, character driven satyre on the pretensions of media/politics/society, like *some* of Comic Strip, Whoops Apocalypse, Eat The Rich etc.

The slap-stick and smut side has dated less well IMHO. Eg: Mayall's FR&C Blankety-Blank sketch works because it ridicules the very television smut that he himself seems to perpetuate elsewhere. Only French/Saunders seemed to make a proper go of straighter comedy.

  • Huh?

  • Wow, some of his facial expressions are EXACTLY Rowan Atkinson! Circa Black Adder 1!

  • can you get this on dvd in the united states?
