ok everyone...according to pavel he would be doing this correctly for A KETTLEBELL SNATCH! so leave the semantics aside and you have to admit this is really impressive! GREAT JOB!
Sorry. Still not convinced, what actually makes it a snatch then? The Kettlebell is being swung and then received in a snatch position/grip. Hanging snatches with a dumbell can be performed with a vertical movement, so why not with the kettlebell?
@BigErnie00 A snatch is when the ball hits the back of your arm in the top position. In swings it doesn't go over your hand no matter how high you swing. What gasperfreak is talking about is where the bell is before you start snatching it. Dead = you snatch it when it's hanging still. Regular = you do a little swing to get the momentum rolling. Doing snatches vertically is not proper form because you aren't using your hips well, but a snatch is a snatch.
@micikas, if I remember correctly the snatch by definition is an olympic weightlifting movement, whereby in order to be performed correctly the barbell is accelerated vertically upwards - no swinging - not unless you want to kill your back! Anything else is not a snatch, but a high swing received into a snatch grip. Kettlebell dead snatches are the closest thing to a 'real' snatch; all the swinging stuff is still by definition a swing.
@BigErnie00 He's not using a barbell. It's just a definition people agree on. I explained how it's understood among people who train with KBs and is used within the community to distinguish the moves you do with a KB. Nothing else. It's KB specific.
It is a distinctly different exercise from a swing when it's talked about KBs. Try it and you'll see.
If it's your first time doing either KB exercise, your hurting forearms would tell you the difference ;-)
@micikas, Okay, I can live with the tag as a kettlebell specific movement, that said however, I can't see where it is different to the swing?!? Same movement, same muscle groups - only difference at the top when receiving. I do train with kettlebells and dumbells and personally find the dead snatch and the hanging snatch much more effective than using the momentum of the swing; plus the downward swing does carry an inherently higher risk of injury when you are in a fatigued state.

outstanding work capacity!
Rules on Jared's site say " Lockouts should be bicep-to-ear." what does this mean? Biceps should touch ear or just parallel?

Isn't the bell supposed to move vertically in the snatch and not elliptically like in the swing? Cos this looks like swings to me.

No
There are two ways, regular snatchs and dead snatch (thats u are talking about)

like I said, there´s two Ways!
the 2 are ok, but vertical without swing (dead) is the hardest.
But for continuous is better do with swing.

Okay thanks for the info.

@BigErnie00 The swing generally doesn't go past the shoulders. Snatch always does.
