they should build a real racing track on the island (something like Donington or Silverstone tracks) for BSB, WSB or MotoGP to add some aditional racing fun, I think it would be a good investment ... ?
@SlayerofFiction Haven't got any videos of me at the moment but hopefully I'll get some up this season. I'm in club racing at the moment and it's only my first year of racing. And yep I am out with the boys... all good fun
@Pettet34 well get some up, yer a novice racer so awhile until your ready for the TT, dont worry about it, just keep racing and learning, the more you learn, the slower you take your step into the big time, the better you will be, I wish you the best :)
All of this is fascinating, I have questions. This event must last a for a week or more. What do the locals do for roads? Also is it true that more than two hundred riders have been killed in this race over the years? I've seen electric bikes race. How do these perform comparatively to conventional bikes? Some road signs appear to be facing the wrong way, are they going the wrong way just for the race?
@IFlick The electric bikes were in a different race all together. and you simply can't use the roads when the race is on, but the schools and college are shut for tt week anyway. the event is 2 weeks, week one is practice week then second week in race week. and there not going the wrong way a road is a road, they use it all up.
there are other roads that lead to the places that the TT course covers around the Island so its not a major problem. And this race is on normal roads so thats why the road signs appear backwards depending the racing lines thru corners. and yeah, 233 have lost there lives over the years. Despite that they all know the risks and the dangers so do we who watch it and we love it :)
@Theloonytoons I would love to see all the retired professional racers get together and get something going like this. Fuck once a year, that is all I ask for, JUST ONE RACE A YEAR DAMN IT!!!!
Im new to riding and am glued to this any time it airs on TV I knew it was insanely dangerous but man...Two riders died during the weekend alone I think there may have been others From Wikipedia
- there have been 231 deaths during official practices or races on the Snaefell Mountain Course (this number includes the riders killed during Manx Grand Prix and the Clubman TT races).
i hope i can go and see it live some day INTENSE these guys have balls i just cant even fathom having RIP

@MrNineTwoFive ...sail thing ... yes but not the leg, the whole body acts like a "sail", leg position is "natural position, not hurting loins" tied to the position of the rest of the body.
@dbc1dc its an electric motorbike that one the TTXGP, and there is no real reason why they do it, its thought to be done because of nervous reaction when breaking hard, haha most people would do it when breaking from 180 to 60mph. :)
@jam3sb95 the racers hold their leg out sometimes prior to a corner because they are preparing to move their whole body correctly (which you can't see because of the windshield) and not because they are "nervous"
Looking forward to watching the 2010 season in HD. Wish we had something like this in the states. Even if we did, the Isle of Man TT will always be the OG.
WATCH!!!!! In 1:24 pilot lay down his head and in 1:27 he moves to the left side at maximum near to the gas tank, stay in this position for about 3 sec. (looking for the helicopter? LOL) and returns to original position, looking foward at 1:30. Maybe its for extreme aerodynamic. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
@DragonCastro I'd say *maybe* for the aerodynamic...but more likely resting his neck. I know it cramps my neck up something fierce to keep my head down behind the windscreen like that for any length of time.
@DragonCastro Incredible it is! Best guess, he's lying his head down on the tank to rest his neck. I know it cramps my neck up awfully bad when I have to keep it cranked down behind the windscreen for any length of time. :)
@DragonCastro he's looking at the helicopter lol proof: he says it in the interview after the race, Ian Hutchinson was the rider, in that race he won by 37 seconds. He also broke the record for winning 5 races at the TT in every race he competed in. =]

2 Questions: What is the bike at 0:36-0:43 and why do the racers hold their leg out sometimes prior to a corner?
dbc1dc 1 year ago
@dbc1dc I think they do that because thier leg acts like a sail for stability and puts more wieght on the front forks for better turn-in.
