Hi...I'm brazilian. Actually, Bossa Nova is a KIND of SAMBA. We have diferents kinds of samba according brazilian region. Ex: Rio de Janeiro - Pagode, Bahia - Samba de Roda, São Paulo - Samba Canção. At Carnaval, you can hear Escolas de Samba playing "Samba Enredo". Bossa Nova was a "sad" samba that was born in 60's at Rio de Janeiro. João Gilberto, Toquinho, Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim were the forerunners. You will hardly find new Bossa Nova composition after 80's.
@75canm .. nao existe "cajon flamenco", o cajon é Peruano mas voce pode fazer ritmo flamenco con o cajon. disculpa por minha escritura eu nao sou brasileiro..
@cajonschool samba only has the same bass pattern and is played at fast tempos (also instead of quarter notes his foot would be on 2 and 4). bossa nova is a brazillian clave played along with this rhythm and played at slower tempos.
