  • @BritishMovieComedy erm Bob isnt dead. He might look it, but he isn't

  • Alex Harvey (5 February 1935 – 4 February 1982

  • The definitive performance.

  • Sensational indeed. I was early teens when this came out and too young to appreciate the genius of this band. Talk about playing with feeling while hamming it up at the same time.

  • sete pessoas são arrombadas

  • I'm a bit of a SAHB fan (not a die-hard) but I've never heard "anvil" by them & more to the point my die-hard pal hasn't either, there was a rock band doing the circuit yonkies & yonkies ago called "Anvi" If that's any use to you, if you do track the song down then let me know so as I can let my pal know. "ta-much"

  • OKay i need some help i need to find a song by Alex Harvey Called Anvil? im not a fan of him but its for my friend anyone know if it is one of his songs because i cant find it or know any song called Anvil by someone similar??

  • @Ultradudeo1 Could it be the Hammer Song "said the man with the hammer, hammering the anvil . . ."

  • @fatjack4drrink Yes thanks very much thats it XD

  • Ahh the late, great Alex Harvey doing what he did best. Pushing the boundaries of the acceptable. Genius

  • I was born five year's too late to actually catch most of my music hero's live & when I was old enough to go to gig's most of them were dead nearly dead or burned out in some capacity, but I am more musically travelled thaan most, I know what I like & I'm old enough to say what I like & I like what I like. wouldn't it be amazing to hear Alex duet with Frankie Miller. R.i.P.ALEX,

  • If MTV was around at the time these guys would be multi millionaires

  • Superb

  • The meaning of christmas, rasing the dead, make the garden really jelous and who do they have to play with but the spirits of the dead, and round the mulberry bush they go.

  • at your right eve falling.

  • Oh what memories I remember watching this on the OGWT and then lost my virginity on the sofa in front of the telly, it was all over before the OGWT finished broadcasting !!!!

  • i was born in the wrong era. love alex harvey and was born in 91!

  • thumbs up if you agree this is better then tom jones' version :)

  • @theblind pig this was filmed in the seventies and who has ever said anything to tom jones about knife crime and he sang it first!! oh and in scotland when this was done it was razors and sharpened combs now everywhere in the uk it is knives

  • @theblind pig this was filmed in the seventies and who has ever said anything to tom jomes about knife crime and he sang it first!! oh and in scotland when this was done it was razors and sharpened combs now everywhere in the uk it is knives

  • love this saw them first on a repeat on sounds of the seventies and been an addict ever since

  • what a player - fantastic taste and sense of humour - he ate his way through a wall playing Vambo when Pink Floyd were still playing psychedelia

  • Vambo Rool.....OK

  • Alex Harvey! We simply didnt get enough of your genius!

  • how might he have wielded it. with sword at side. against the red tide like how their enemy yeild. You are all going to hell for what you have done to the christ child.

  • no one wants truely to be like satin for he has no comrades.

  • you must channel your anger. But what channel stv?

  • these guys dancing, he screaming with the doll, more funny than sensational, but sensational anyway

  • Knife crime is no joke, and is a real problem in the Scotland. Why these clowns think murder is funny, i have no idea.

  • Alex was a real treasure and we lost a lot when he died. However, this is a hoot and so much fun to watch. I'm grinning like a mad fool now!

  • wardrobe malfunction! :-)

  • These Guys well ahead of there time.

  • CLASSIC TODAYS MUSIC JUST DOESN'T COME NEAR ANYTHING LIKE THIS.............STILL RELEVENT TODAY AS EVER......LOVE IT TIMELESS CLASSIC

  • come on stoke

  • Awesome

  • 2:31 cup check!

  • Classic !

  • my mum grew up in bridgeton a few streets away from the great man alex harvey and dan mcaffertey of nazareth came from the same place at the same time!

  • classic 70,s band!

  • Sadly only got to like this band after the great man had passed on. Wonderful earthy sound and a simple but effective presentation of a classic.

  • Simply Sensational....

    RIP Alex-Legend

  • just makes u feel so sorry for the kids that are growing up now n listning to pree packeged disnyfide pap may b old but atleast i got to listen to good music growing up:)

  • @blacksnow150 Not really I grew up listening to this and Bowie, Iggy, Led Zepplin, Nick Drake, Joy Division, The Cure and many more and I was born in 93.

  • @MrDataCode good luck trying to find a radio/tv show that plays all the bands u listed :) if u do please post the chanel ...my point was mainstream music genoraly sucks while bands that are a bit difrent (good) dont get mutch airplay and u kind of help make my point as the bands u listed are all from the 70s/80s but i guess u show not everyone born after 1990 has no taste in music :) there are good modern bands but u dont hear them mutch over the sound of all the shit .keep listning to the good

  • @blacksnow150 Oh yes like Project:KOMAKINO alot like Joy Division and The Strange Boys, very 60s and Crystal Stilts, check them out they prove music is not dead just yet.

  • @blacksnow150 hehe i feel the same way but am 13 year old and listnen to this music , lets just say this music is in my family:)

  • Being Welsh, I hate to say that this is better than the Tom Jones version!!! Alex, if you were still with us, you would enhance the atmosphere in the Millennium Stadium by duetting with Sir Tom Unfortunately some thing will never be... but many thanks for the memories...SENSATIONAL!!!

  • @laurencevadg61 Great comment!!

  • @laurencevadg61 it's not better than Tom's, both are great

  • @laurencevadg61 I'm Welsh, too and second that opinion. Boyo.

  • @laurencevadg61 pass me a bucket

  • Wonderful amazing Alex Harvey Band and Delilah:) FinMusicMan

  • Wonderful, wonderful stuff - best cover ever?

  • How the **** could anybody follow that?Sensational they were.

  • vambo rools

  • thanks for posting ... never possible to get bored with sahb - sadly missed

  • AWESOME go GLASGOW

  • one of the best cover versions of a song so different from the original

  • I love it!

  • Tom fuckin Jones disnae even belong on the same page!!!!!!!

  • THE best video on youtube (no matter who posted it)

  • THE best band live...

  • was my bros fave band sadly he passed away last week , hope him and alex are having a blast in heaven xx

  • This is just pure class

  • DONT TRY TO ANALYSE IT JUST ENJOY IT...

    YOU BUNCH OF CUNTS ==}}

  • this is pure rock n roll

  • Big Zal looks deranged at the wee dance bit.....fan-feckin-tastic!

  • Good explanation @Duaneandeddie

@devilclone you have a point, as duaneandeddie says, you would have to have been there, as you said, it is a generational thing, but find a good quality clip of faith healer to get an idea of the power of SAHB...I am from the generation between. @artdeuchars that is uncalled for abuse, grow up yeself.

  • rock n roll at its best.

  • dear devilclown

picture the scene-three day week, no internet , nothing on the 3 tv channels, a few radio shows a week in hard to hear medium wave-loads of american m.o.r. coked up self indulgent pap trying to convince us it was exciting-then coming to a town near you a band with excitement, adrenalin MENACE edge FUN, like a breath of stagnant air. This was before punk blew everything apart, bands like SAHB, the Kilburns, the Feelgoods, the Albertos toured constantly. Saved our lives.

  • @duaneandeddie spot on m8

  • He's my great uncle! :L

  • so the devilclown what age are you ,sound like aan average teenager right up your self .

    this is pure quality.

    arse hole

  • oh for the days when musicians were adventurous and did not take themselves seriously but still chucked out belting stuff.

  • Must be a generational thing... No idea what's happening here beyond a pretty average cover version of a pretty average original song. Sorry guys. I don't get it.

  • brilliant

  • One of Scotland's finest products.

  • Hahahahaha, musical comedy.........gotta love it!

Ah.........they did mean this to be funny, right?

  • @Beanbluesfan

Its rock theatre!! The original and the best. Or rock satire if you like. Their whole live show was like this. Absolutely brilliant!

  • I saw them live at The Valley in 75 at the Who's amazing gig. They coudn't compete with the huge laser show but when they were on stage Alex Harvey's band were fascinating. I love them

  • Brilliant stuff, would that be the great mr dan Mc cafferty at the end of the song sat next to whispering bob?I think so.

  • I was a teenager in the eighties and happened upon the old grey whistle test special and discovered SAHB amongst others . It may have been 1986 but it was the seventies in my head thanks Alex

  • @TheAk47666 i may only be 16...but even i watch the re-runs of old grey whistle test..it's awesome :D

  • Did Chris Glen invent the thong! what fabulous memories of a unique band and a unique show-man. Alex really was a 'one-off'! Checking out these vids has cost me a bloody fortune as have bought albums on Amazon!!

  • Aye....Alex, who's the man...

  • TOM JONES NO THANX THIS IS BEST COVER EVER

  • i spent the day with the band at fibbers in york and they are truely awsome as people and as a band keep going on and on lads!!!

  • Politically incorret? yes but true a real monster.I love this band.

  • That song remind me SO MUCH the old brazilians songs at the time we had some good brazilian songs... =/

  • mmmmmmmmmm xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • This Band never made it big.....they had a chart hit with this cover, and a strong cult following.

This was a great, original & powerfull band. This was the gam rock and hard rock+ alternative rock era.

Maybe they did not fit in to those categorys....which is shame in my view.

  • She stood there laughing!

  • I think the bands of today should improve their stage outfit!

  • Somehow this feels like a totally different song, always hated Tom´s version!

  • Has it really been 35 years from this classic performance?

    Long live Rock n Roll

  • beats the sh**t outa Tom's version! goood fun, well done Alex, RIP

  • Good song RIP Alex

  • for u jimmy

  • I saw the sensational Alex Harvey band in Bilzen, amazing!! One of the best shows I ever saw...few years later in the port of Zeebrugge TTF SHORE, I worked as a docker there....Alex died in front of my eyes, what a loss for music..I'll never forget this tragedy

  • @marcdarts

Superb talent. The band were good too.Still going on in a fashion and were excellent to watch while Zal Celminson was on guitar(Now off in a huff)

  • Total Class

  • Gallus as ye can get!!!!! (non Glaswegians look it up.)

  • brill, brings back memories xxx

  • "The thing about rock and roll is, it has to be very very loud".

    Sensational.

  • move over Tom

  • Makes Tom Jones's version sound foppish and effeminate.

    Alex rocks!

  • @macfiercesome Because that's what they set out to do, be manly and serious. That's why there's a guy dressed as a mime and an ass dance during the instrumental, and that's why Alex Harvey is dressed as a pirate and Delilah is a puppet. Because they're so serious and manly.

  • Fuckin ell that was something! A master at work. Great band, great show! That's not as easy as it looks.?. 10 outs10!

  • Was actually 1976 !

  • Still awesome after all these years

Saw them at Mayfair in Newcastle in 85 !

  • Hung like a horse.

  • I'm Welsh, love Tom Jones - but this is claaassssssss!!

  • i think they influence queen, i am a big queen fan, and i love nazareth, and the sahb, "mixed" the best of these two legends. i love that music

  • Was there ever a more dangerous guitar player than Zal Cleminson?

  • @evilfondue hey,I'm just rediscovering SAHB tonight and I gotta second that...Zal is a very scary way cool guitarist...his whole fun psycho clown personna has me laughin' away.I hadn't listened to these guys in so long...I didn't appreciate them back in the 70's(too young brained then)...Zal has some really crazy guitar licks splattered about. He has real smooth stage presence.I agree, dangerous. Enjoy.Laters!

  • First single I ever bought... lantastic.... love the Laurel and Hardy dance... and did anybody spot the Ian Dury influence..?

  • these were the days. vambo rools

  • Did they influence Queen ?

    I wonder.

  • We should start a campaign to get Alex to no. 1 in the charts!

  • I bloody love that. Has there ever been a more under-rated band?

  • The best version of this song by a mile. SAHB live forever!

  • wow.

    they are just great!

    einfach geil!

  • "...and as she betrayed me I watched .. and went out of my mind .."

  • I saw them backup Jethro Tull in Vancouver [1976?]and Tull's soundman mixed them really schitty but they still BLEW Jethro Tull AWAY!! An unforgettable performance, their theatrics were as good as Alice Cooper! grrreat albums to have a beer and sing along to!

Bons tempos aqueles.....
