please please please will you help me sync my microkorg up with my SR 16 i just cant seam to do it the timeings just seam off i just cannot do it its PISSIN ME OFF!!!
@ming57 I disagree, the Microkorg XL is built like a toy. The pots on it started acting strange after it fell on a soft carpet, pots facing downwards. Now it's been 6 months in warranty repair service, nothing happens. I'm going to try the R3 to see if it lasts better. I wouldn't recommend XL to anyone because of the quality issue with the pots, even though the sound is fantastic... let's hope the R3 is better in quality?
How many different sounds are possible to make from scratch with the R3??Overall how many can you make. Over 1000 or infinate amount. This or the Alesis micron or Akai MiniAK??
r3s basic analogue tones r decent, but filters n modulations r more obviously digital. Messin w freqs, res, cutoffs etc. doesnt sound nearly as powerful(ie harmonics)in real time as a moog. but r3 does polyphonic n keyboard stuff, some tones more usable thn others. if u need monophonic synth for /studio id say save ur cash. if ur a multi-instrumentalist/doing ur own productions thn the r3 will do more at the cost of quality tht only trained ears will notice.
Hey dan, i really like your song i have a nord lead 2 so i wanna buy a alesis sr 16 i love the 80s sounds do you think its the best for that.. just bought a korg electribe emx1 but i dont like it
The build quality isent great on the r3, feels realy plasticy. the keys on the mk are smaller but it feels a bit more durable, havent tryed the XL though, but onley hurd good things about it.
@danmusicstoke So what if it feels a little plasticy? It might be more durable plastic after all. :D The microkorg XL otherwise seems OK but there's definetly a quality issue with the knobs.
im not sure wether to go with the microkorg xl or the r3? i have enough money for both but with the r3 im worried itll sound too trancy (darude style) and im more into the synth sounds of m83 and air but with the microkorg xl im worried the build quality will be a bit shoddy as it doesnt look tooo durable anyone got any advice?
I love my microkorg. I own the original MK and the sounds I can get from it are classic. I have programmed some patches on my own and I have edited patches I have found online. I love the brass synth sounds I can get from it.
sounded really good!! good job with the drum programming! does the alesis 16 have tons of reverb on all the snares, are there any dry tight ones, or at least with less reverb (so i dont think im in an 80s power ballad) any input on the alesis 16 would help. thanx!!
it's seriously not outdated (well except for it's god awful attempts at syncing midi clocks) if you think the samples sound too early 90s or what have you you can always process them etc

i have a lot of trouble syncing the sr16 clock to different instruments. could just be mine i guess but i have to use external sequencers

IF you really love 80's sounds, just buy a sampler and get samples of all the classic drum machines, oberheim DMX, 808, 909. linndrum etc.

he, for the price range i wouldn't get either. for that type of sound you should go with a roland juno-d

How do you go about removing reverb on the SR 16 snare hits? I can't seem to find anything in the manual + online about it.
GrellNeue 2 years ago
Theres 3 sets of samples for each hit. without reverb, with reverb, with ambiance [basicly a different kind of reverb]. just choose the ones without.
danmusicstoke 2 years ago
Cool.. But how do you access these 3 samples? I'll take a random drum kit and make a song out of it, but have yet to figure out the 'verb.

Hey, ive got rid of the alesis now. traded it for an MC303. But yes all the drum sounds can be used with or without reverb.
