We need more hydro power. Solar panels are far too expensive, and hydro power has the greatest amount of efficiency over the alternatives. The only downside is that building dams would hurt the surrounding natural area.
You obviously have NO IDEA about HOW NUKLER PLANT WORK! The Nuclear material IS VERY HOT, so they use metal bars called Cooling rods absorb the heat. The rods are cooled by WATER, the water then become contaminated aka POISON. That water or as it is called nuclear waste CAN NOT BE CLEANED OR DISPOSED OF, and it will KILL people that are in contact with it. My point NUKLYER POWER IS NOT SAFE YOU NOOB!
^^^you are the one that is ignorant on this this issue. Could you explain to me how H20 becomes radioactive? It doesn't, the waste from nuclear power plants is solid.
Check out an episode of 60 minutes regarding the French and nuclear power. There country I believe is in the forefront of nuclear power and they also discuss how they can actually recycle the nuclear waste. Food for thought.
Exactly. The plant systems in France and Japan only produce about 5% of the waste of our aging reactors due to their reconstitution efforts and pebble bed reactors. And most of that waste are things like protective clothing and machinery. And most of non-recyclable fuel isn't really all that radioactive. It just has a long half life.
Than why are the French and Germans doing it safely. With the advances in nuclear technology the spent fuel rods can be used again and in some instances they can produce more energy than they did in the first place. The half life on the "hot" material is around 60 years in which the material can be handled and stored much easier vs coal burning plants that you love are killing the planet and humans each and every day.
I must have missed that vote by scientest to decare global warming man made? The IPC just added people to the reoprt. but regardless, in 1490 the was "scientific consensus" that the world was flat! so whats your point
Global warming is the trojan issue for 2008. Like, we're all supposed to get excited about that while global ruling class runs off with the outputs of all our economic product.
how stupid are we anyway? YES let's have enviro, regulation but thats AFTER we nail those billionnaires.
Among whom? With the exception of the AAPG and other industry groups, the scientific community is pretty much in agreement. A handful of dissenters does not a consensus break.

Umm...there is no scientific consensus. There is still huge debate on the main cause of global warming. It is probably the sun.

actually Mike Gravel has mentioned nuclear energy in the debates.
I think nuclear is better than coal/oil but solar is the best. solar/wind > nuclear > coal/oil
randomdude90 4 years ago
solar and wind is totlly pie in the sky in terms of meeting our energy demands. Their role are supplementary.

OMG there is no scientific consensus on man-made global warming... There is STILL a discussion going on. WTF are you smoking?

70% of America's electricity is generated through the use of fossil fuels. This needs to change!
