  • Hello,

I have a 1525, and would like to upgrade over my current factory 1GB RAM. Since I do a lot of engineering design work, I figured 4GB would be great. Is there any reason I could not go from 1GB to 4GB? I understand my Vista 32-bit won't recognize ALL of the RAM, but should address 3.5GB. Will this be ok?

    Thanks!

  • I have 4gb memory, with max 8gb memory on my dell. To upgrade to 8gb, will I need to buy a 8gb RAM or another 4gb RAM? Thanks for the tutorial!!

  • Hi, can you please help me? I bought two Kingston 2 GB DDR2 667MHz SODIMMs to equal 4 GB for my Dell inspiron 1525 and after I installed it like your directions in the video, my computer said that the installed memory exceeded the available memory. I took one of the sticks out and it's running on 2 GB now, but I want the 4 GB!!! What should I do?

  • @enskyment

Did you find a solution to this? I have the 1+1 setup and want to do go to 2+2 as you did. But if it doesn't work...

  • @jklsr55 no :( I still just have one 2 GB. I think I'm going to try it again though. I'll reply again if it works.

  • Thanks for the video, my friend.

  • Thanks man, wasn't sure if this laptop had dual channel or not.

  • Thank's for this video! It really helped me. I never even knew you could get more RAM on laptops XD Yes I'm stupid. :)

  • Where di you buy your ram from, because i really have no clue where to by it

  • you can do this with a delll inspiron 15r right?

  • First you need a laptop. WOW! lol

  • Thanks so much for the video.

You had mentioned to get 667 MHz SO-DIMMs. When I ran my system test at Crucial, they suggest I get 800 MHz ones. My processor is T5750.

Usually at Intel.com, they specify the memory types. For some reason, that particular data isn't available. If you were me, what would you do? Go with 667 or 800? Also are you happy with Crucial or would you suggest other brands like Samsung, Corsair or Kingston.

I'd love to hear your insights/thoughts when you have a moment.

  • excellent video, thank you!

  • Great help. Im slightly confused though. I contacted dell and they told me to buy 4gb of ram, as im using photoshop and media programs alot. However, i did some research, and it said that i should only buy 3 - 3.5gb of ram. Im on a 32 bit system with currently 2gb of ram, running windows vista. Do i go for 4gb or just buy one stick of 2gb, instead of 2 x 2gb? Any help would be great :)

  • thanks this really helped. I never understood what that lock icon meant.

  • Ok, here's some simple info. GB stands for GIGABYTE

  • is it possible to upgrade the graphics? even though its integrated?

  • @alechen56 - Thats not possible I am afraid.

  • Good video thanks.

  • thanks dude, I replaced my back lcd plate and forgot what wires were connected to the wireless card

  • hi so this has two slots for ram? we ordered the standard one, so is that 2gb? Or 1 gb? So would one slot be free for another stick of ram?

  • I was talking to a Dell support worker last week and I asked him about upgrading my RAM, he said that I had to purchase Dell RAM and no other manufacturer would be compatible, he said the system would reject it and would not work. I also have an Inspiron 1525. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

  • @Badmanashtray - thats absolute nonsense, please report the rep to his supervisor. Dell doesnt even make RAM they use kingston modules. As long as the frequency of RAM modules match and is within your system specified range, RAM will work , regardless the company. If you wanna know the kind of RAM 1525 needs, i will give u the specs.

  • @wisetechie

Hi there. I already have 2GB on my inspiron 1525 laptop and its the same model which you have shown this video on. I would like to know the tech specs of the RAM to order. Thanks and I really appreciate your effort :D

  • @dannykaye85 - Welcome, The RAM specs are :

    Memory DDR2 667 MHz SO-DIMMs

    Memory min/max 512 MB / 4096 MB

If you have 1GB+1GB, then you will need to order 2 x 2GB modules to get to 4GB max.

  • @wisetechie If i have the inspiron 1525 with 2 gb of RAM right now, what amount of RAM should I get? Do I need to replace the 2gb with a 4 gb module, or can I add a 2gb module on top of the original one?

  • If I wanted to could I take out both and make it to a 4 GB ram?

  • @mypasswordistommy - you can make it 2+2 =4, not sure about 1 4GB module.

  • Thanks !

  • um i need to know how upgrade my celeron mobile to pentium i have dell inspiron 1545 and has xp and its slow!

  • @lukygrl13 that is not possible ordinarily. You might want to go for a RAM upgrade and see if it makes things better. Celerons are pretty old, you shouldnt have opted for them.

  • You are a legend. Thank you!!

  • Thanks for the video, man! Just upgraded my 1525 from 2GB to 4GB in 5 minutes thanks to it.

    Cheers!

  • @albotrindade you are most welcome :)

  • Thanks this was really helpful :-)

  • @lovelylisa010 you are welcome :)

  • thanks!!!

  • hello dear

    i have dell insp 1525

there is vista 32-bit and 2 gb of ram

but i want to use 4 or 6 gb of ram

what can i do for that?

  • Good video.

  • whats the back side one for

  • back side one ?

  • Nice Video. Thanks for sharing it WiseTechie. Let me ask you. Did you get 2 equal memory stickies (4GB) or they have different capacities? Can they be different, like I got one with 512MG and can I buy a 2GB to add it and get 2.5GB or we have in this machine that old issue with Pentium that we needed to use equal sticks of memory?

  • @BemDoado You can use any 2 sticks as long as their frequencies match. I myself am using 1- 1GB and 1 - 2GB in one of my laptops.

  • Hey WiseTechie, thanks a lot for your quick reply. I appreciated that.

    All the best.

  • happy to help :)

  • Very hepful video, thanks a lot.

  • thankyou this info makes my life so much easier

  • so i can acess both from the same side i dont have to take the keyboard off or anthing?

  • Yes, on the 1525 , you can access both from the back side.

  • so both slots are right next to each other?

  • They are above and below each other.

  • now i upgraded my laptop memory from 1gb to 2.5bg and i found the speed faster...thnx v much for your help
