@rosieparez No. In 7 states and in DC you don't have to be an ABA educated lawyer. California allows several options, for example. But if you ever want to teach or get into a top-notch firm, you need an ABA accredited degree. But the info I have seen here so far is right on.

The ABA is great and thus so are ABA approved law schools. That said, there are non-ABA law schools that also offer a great legal education ...and an opportunity to become a practicing lawyer.

In order to take the bar don't you have to be a graduate of an aba accreditated law school??
