I think the humor in this comes from the shear awkwardness and depressing life of the... NES video game commercial guy? (I am not old enough to have personally seen these) after the commercial has finished. I mean, when the commercial is over, how exactly does Megalord lead a normal life? He is constantly interrupted to preform his sacred duty and probably can't hold up a decent job. Poor Megalord.
