What's the point of speed runs? It's not fun to watch and all it proves is that you've spent far too much time in front of the pc screen that you've memorised every aspect of the game. Anyone could do the same if they had nothing better to do with their lives!
@RadxxRyan No, I'm not jealous of the fact that you have memorised every single second and square centimere of a game. Tomb Raider is great, one of the best games ever in fact, but I've only played through it twice and it was fun both times, All I'm saying is I don't understand how running/ jumping every second to shave a nanosecond off of your total time, etc. can be enjoyable. Tomb Raider isn't about speed is it? But as you do it I guess it is to you, so each to their own. Have a good day.
Honestly, I do this for fun. I've played Tomb Raider 100 times over in the past without going fast or memorizing everything. I found a few years ago that people speedrun Tomb Raider and I thought it would be cool to change the "concept" of the game a little.

ok at 1:15 you do the whole glitchy gate thing, I've tried it myself but can't manage it. I've tried different angles, and btw I have successfully done the block bug in Palace of Midas, so I have a vague idea. Any advice?
Lara's head needs to be in line with that strip on the wall, then you just jump 3 times and hold the side-step left button. The main thing is the angle, it does need to be pretty precise.
@RadxxRyan Hi its me again. I did the gate glitch, it took me a while. I forgot about the bit at 1:35 so I used the level skip cheat :s My time was 2:53 which kinda sucks. But thanks for the tips for the gate part!!!!

The glitchless record for this is 2:41 by MMAN2. And I am currently working on a glitchless secrets run of this level. It will be my first new run in 2 months, and I won't be using glitches for a while, because I feel I should play it both ways.
@RadxxRyan: Good idea - i think the 2:41 can't be beaten anymore... I couldn't see any opening for another second. ;-) Have you ever played TR1 with a glide wrapper on PC? BTW your PS-TR1 seems pretty faster than mine.

My reason asking this is because I've tried about 3 or 4 different Downloads for a good ISO or IMG of the Tomb Raider Original, but all I'm getting is a black screen when I try running it on the ePSXe Emulator.
It works for all of the other games I used to love playing (and currently am XD)
No emulator. Honestly, I've never used one. I just use a TV, my PS1 with TR1 game, and DVD recorder. I should record myself playing with webcam to show. I'm thinking bout doing that cause I haven't uploaded a vid in months.

I don't understand your first sentence. Although it seems you don't like all the jumping? Well I do that because this is a speedrun and jumping is the fastest way to get through a level as long as you do it correctly.
One time I just passed through the gate at 1:13 by running and jumping at the exact center. It was a one time thing and I've never been able to do it since... but I try every time i go by in other play throughs just in case!
it's inactive: if all the enemies were active, at the beginning of the game they would attack you at once!! so the game activates enemies when you step in some places. RadxxRyan goes to the switch in an "impossible" way and the wolf doesn't activate.
i need help i cant run sound on this one i got the collection box just today and im testing them all whenever i run setup and pick my soundcard my pc reboots -,-, is this fixable? or should i deal with no sound at all help if possible tnx
I really wanna play this game but my other disc won't play the music and it just shows a black screen. Nothing wrong with jumping I do it all the time on most of the TR games even the news ones.

Why doesn't tr1 black label or greatest hits work on a 40gb PS3 after start game? It goes to black screen once you try to start a new game. tr 2 3 and 4 work just fine.
I got this and a few old sierra games for my birthday like in 1997...this shit was off the hook ...all those summers and school nights spent on this game!!!

haha i did the same thing. my life was tomb raider. my mom thought i was going mad. i'd always be on my toes, i swear to you my hearing got better after this game. you always had to have a good sense of awareness playing it. the memories!!! best video game EVER!
I love Tomb Raider 1.. I have it on my PC, playing it with Glidos.. Love it even more.. And I love it some more because of the Audio Pack for Glidos that enables the same soundtrack as in PS1 version! Too bad that the Glidos has that annoying spinning logo that appears in Lost Valley.. *sniff* I think I just gotta buy it..Luckily it's not so pricey!
Wow! :O Those two new tricks that I haven't seen in MMAN's run are really amazingly impressive. :D This is no doubt worth a brilliant 5/5. Adding to favorites, haha. ^^

Nope. I want to start speedrunning on PC. Just have to get some extra money for the PC versions and the Fraps recording program.
I think the PAL versions are a bit slower (I play on NTSC).

I got this and a few old sierra games for my birthday like in 1997...this shit was off the hook ...all those summers and school nights spent on this game!!!
did anyone else ever play this so much that when you went to sleep you would still see Lara jumping around and all your thoughts are "ohh shit man, I'm gonna kill that bear tommorow"

haha i did the same thing. my life was tomb raider. my mom thought i was going mad. i'd always be on my toes, i swear to you my hearing got better after this game. you always had to have a good sense of awareness playing it. the memories!!! best video game EVER!

I love Tomb Raider 1.. I have it on my PC, playing it with Glidos.. Love it even more.. And I love it some more because of the Audio Pack for Glidos that enables the same soundtrack as in PS1 version! Too bad that the Glidos has that annoying spinning logo that appears in Lost Valley.. *sniff* I think I just gotta buy it..Luckily it's not so pricey!
