  • Ive seen number 5 lolz for the last comment

  • Ive seen 5

  • you should do a vid on you worst trains,no doubt the caledonian belle would be in the list ;D

  • Have you done a review of the class 58

  • @MrCoolchris19 yes, look on my channel

  • What was the song with the trumpet called before you changed the sound?

  • @Hornby09c I can't remember - sorry

  • I was kinda surprised your pendolino was only 7th...it really is beuatiful and I thought worthy of a top 5 spot at the very least.

  • 58001, I have the very same loco in my collection. it's a proper workhorse. Sure it needs a good oiling every now and then and the wheels are starting to pit and corrode a bit but it pulls anything you put behind it and as a livery goes, you cant beat 80's railfreight. Great video Will.

  • @sperojunction - thank you my friend!

  • can you send me all your train names i have only just started getting trains

  • why dont you just have no music and have just you talking about the loco i would say that would be loads better

  • The Heljan class 58 knocks the socks off the hornby one in every regard, my first ever tain set had a hornby 58 when i was 10 and even then I didnt like them cause Lima were so much more detailed and accurate. Heljan 58 for me every time

  • on class 58 has lots some buffers on the top ten trains

  • my favriout train is a class 37 in intercity livery (but my stuff is in n scale)

  • you always saw the class 58 in the shots

  • Could you tell me where you got the 0-4-0 at the beginning of the video please? Is it part of a set or can you buy it seperately? It's just that I love that L&Y livery. It reminds me of the black and gold Lotus racing cars of the 70's.

  • @KubicaAlonso123 - I don't know I'm afraid as I've had that since I was about 6 or 7 years old. It was bought for me back in the 80s by my dad and I haven't seen another one since.

  • @InterCity82 Please reply to his comment.!.!.!.!.! why wasn't your mallard in here.I think mallard should have deserved at least 6 position.

  • @PalomboDylan i dont think he has Mallard as ive asked him he might get one though but if he has one he didnt have it when this video was made

  • i like trains

  • i made a little bet to my self about that the class 58 would be you number 1 loco after seeing you opening the class 58

  • could you possibly send me the original video? a friend was going to show it to me but you had to change the sound. i would really like to see the original. thanks.

  • @klooi48 - I think the original will be available on my IC82 website when that goes live.

  • @InterCity82

you should do loco class reviews so you can show all the different locos of one class that you have

  • i think you should had left you talking in the back ground its deffently not ass good as the original

  • @toffie702 - I had to change the music for copyright reasons. I'll simply make another in due time and either use no music or royalty-free music. But my channel and videos are so popular now that I can't get away with using copyrighted music anymore.

  • @InterCity82 o so enoying

  • the end reminds me of my 0-4-0 from the set The Rambler :) lovely little thing would mind a set of 58's :) cool video :D very much liked :)

  • @fkingjoy2211 - thanks for the comment! I shall do another one soon :)

  • @InterCity82 I wouldn't say it's that similar to the class 58. The class 56 is more kinda... oh I dunno... curved. The 58 is more flat and angular. Personally I think there fairly different. But that's just my opinion, I'm not saying your wrong or anything, I just don't really think that they're that similar.

  • @Pendolino1711 - I mean in their job. The 56s and 58s were both coal haulers primarily and all they did was basically ferry coal from mines to power stations - all day, every day. So to have the 56 and the 58 in is a bit 'coal overload' really.

  • @InterCity82 oh I see.

  • If this was made AFTER you got the class 56, would it be on there? I just want to know as I'm planning on getting one.

  • @Pendolino1711 - the 56 is an impressive model but I don't know if it would make it onto here as it's very similar to the Class 58.

  • where has the narriton gone there music now!:(

  • @eoin730 - yes this video is quite old now and due to be re-done :) :) So this one has been 'downgraded' in preparation for IC82's Top 5 Best Trains ever - due out later this season.

  • @InterCity82

I know what you mean about your class 58, my Flying Scotsman is my Favourite because it was my first. However in detail it's my A4 Mallard

  • I can't disagree with you on No.1

  • what is the class 153 used for in real life? my collection is steam, mainly limited edition flying scotsmans and mallards lol. but im looking to get somethign different, i was thinking a corination class, ideally i want a duchess of hamilton in streamlined form. or perhaps Evening star.

then again, i might complete my scotsman collection, and maby get a tornado. unsure.

  • @benjokazooie - the Class 153 is used on short and rural runs connecting small towns and even the odd village. It's a fantastic model, one of my favourites. The Evening Star is incredible value for money if you buy the Hornby Railroad one.

  • I almost cried watching the 58 part. So emotional.

  • hello i agree with stan the class 58 is not that ugly but it is nice anyway

  • The class 58 is ugly, i have it, but hate it.

  • Im only 11 and i have about half of his, alot

  • that is so good i think that i mite do that

  • wow more miles than your car no way what age did you get that locomotive?

one day I'm going to be just like you.

how much did it cast for all of those trains, track and of track decorations?

I'm only 11 years old and I have 2 hornby sets called smoky joe and normal virgin locomotives

  • @TheJamster10 - thanks for the comment! That locomotive was given to me in 1984 and is now 25 years old I think :) The track and trains have been collected of several years and the total cost is about £6,000.

  • hiya mate. what express points do you use? by which company? cheers rob

  • happy birthday

  • @eoin730 - thank you friend! :)

  • Nice vid well made

  • Thank you for taking the time to do this video. The use of the top of the pops tune was superb and your timings were excellent. I came across your videos by chance and watched the Toy Story ones, then I watched this one. I run n gauge mainly Kato so know very little of Hornby apart from my first train set was a Hornby and that was over 50 years ago. I have only been running locos again for over a year and of course spending too much money :-)

  • @scotsoft29 - haha :) Thanks for the comment! If you're spending lots of money, it sounds like everything is going just fine haha

  • The first loco is always the most important, it reminds us of the feeling of first seeing it go round the track, my first was an industrial 0-4-0T, it wasn't the biggest, but I will never forget how much fun it was.

  • Nice Video.

You must have an understanding family with you railway on the floor.

  • im a huge model railway fan and i was wondering how you got all of those sidings to connect up with dcc!

my railway layout is nightmare with these!!!

    from theguy40267

  • When you were talking about the G2A by bachman you said there is nothing more than the black five for pulling freight. But anyway good video.

  • @fletcho909 - what I meant was the Black 5, whilst not in this top 10, is the ultimate freight pulling steam locomotive. But if I had put that in, there wouldn't have been a single entry from Bachmann. So I put my 2nd favourite freight hauling steam loco in, this class G2A, by Bacmann. Only a Black 5 is better than it.

  • now i no why you like it so much

and when im older nough i will get that if its that good

  • I thought Virgin Pendolino was a train set.

  • @fletcho909 - the Virgin Pendolino is a train.

  • @InterCity82 yeah but Virgin Pendolino came with track and a controller so that means its a train set.

  • @fletcho909 - no, the Virgin Pendolino is an actual train. This video is about my top 10 trains and locomotives. The Class 58 for instance is a locomotive, but that too came in a train set (Midnight Freight). I don't plan to do a top 10 train sets tho but if I did, then the Virgin Pendolino train set would be somewhere in the top 5, with the Midnight Freight at number 1, just for sentimental reasons.

  • @InterCity82 Oh

  • haha a classic production! even down to the count down! but no I did not see the number 1 coming! the good old 58! I have the same model and yes its still going strong despite the little motor

  • Love the 43 and the G2A.

  • i agree the class 58 is outstanding and i totally agree it is a brilliant train and i love it

  • Why the clas 58!!!!!! Its an ugly diesel and your numder 1 train should be steam engine at least!

  • @Tornadofan3 get stuffed the guy's had it for all his life!!!!

  • @Tornadofan3 oi, shut the fuck up ok, if he loves that class 58, than let him be happy, i have a similar story to his about my GWR castle class, but its only 4yrs old, the motor needs constant repairs, its a bit chipped, the handrails are out of their sockets, but i love it, the same way IN82 loves his class 58, so shut the fuck up

  • @MrTrainboy1 agreed

  • Have u tested the bullettrain or have it

  • @LFAEVO - I don't have any plans to get any sort of bullet train as they don't run in the area of the country I'm basing my model on. Sorry.

  • I thought that the class 06 from the 'Goods Master' set will be one of your favourites because that loco got you back into the hobby of model trains.

  • @MegaTrainlover - the set got me back into the hobby, not just that loco. So if I ever did a video on IC82's Top Ten Train Sets, it would rank highly.

  • What's the First Song Called ?

  • @HornbyLad1000 - At The Sign Of The Swinging Cymbal, by Brian Fahey.

  • @InterCity82 Thanks.

  • Can you please tell me the name of the second song please?

  • @fletcho909 - I'm pretty sure it's called 'Butterfly' by Ryan Farish

  • @InterCity82 Thank you

  • my mistake!! great vid!

  • wow 25!, ive got a scotsman thats been in my family scince it first touched tracks in the late 70's early 80's, just running, a few issues with push rods tho, what do i expect from a 30 year old loco? love ur vids!!!!

  • i thought you would put the class 50 NSE livery 'dauntless' loco on this video

  • @captaincoolpants11 - it's an impressive loco in terms of detail and performance but it doesn't mean very much to me otherwise.

  • i thought you might have your streamlined coronation class in the top ten, i love my one!

  • @smellyspoonface - think about it for a second..... it and the loco I put into number 2 are the SAME locomotive. Except one is streamlined and the other isn't. :) So in a way, the Duchess of Hamilton IS in 2nd place too, as is the City of Bristol and every other Princess Coronation class locomotive I have.

  • Amazing, Nice little story at the end, My first loco i ever got was Thomas the tank engine : D

  • cool video mate im new to youtube! how the hell do you afford all of that!5*:D

  • @Trainfreak405 - don't smoke, hardly drink, good job ;)

  • @InterCity82 i totally agree about the class 58. you just don't get locos like her anymore

  • the one thats used in most of the video

  • @komodrake - At The Sign Of The Swinging Symbol - Brian Fahey

  • whats the piece of music called

  • @komodrake - which piece? There's 2 pieces of music in this video.

  • Great tribute - I know I have just as sentimental attachments to some of my trains. If the house was on fire, I'd probably die trying to rescue them all! Quite a milestone to have reached as well! Congrats!

  • @streamlinedtrains - thank you! :)

  • Nice video an well made to. Nice to see the B12 on 4th position. Actually great you have you're first and oldest locomotive on number 1. Sadly I lost my first ever locomotive years ago it was a V200 of the German railways (Deutsche Bundesbahn) by Lima fore the Dutch department store HEMA own model train brand. A very heavy diesel engine and smooth runner fore those familiar with the Lima G-engine.

Up to video 201 let them coming.......

  • @thomastheE2engine- howmany views do u get on average per vid?

  • @MrBenbo96 - lol, that's impossible to answer as views go up all the time. My 2nd ever video is still getting new views every day and is at 48,000 now :)

  • @MrTrainmaster1000 its not about subscribers.

its about how many views your video/s are getting.

i've have a message pop up on my home page sayin i could apply from a partnership (i'm not going to till i am 18 though).

  • This makes me jealous

  • i hate to ask this but what are you going to do when the motor in youre first loco breaks

also my first loco (smokey joe) is a bit old, but not as old as your loco being only 7 years old, so i am converting it into a lner y9 class 0-4-0, its simple to convert, i just need to add hand rails at the back, chonge the buffers to wooden blocks, repaint and renumber,

dont worry i have got anouther smokey joe to replaice it as smokey joe

  • @matanuialive2010 - IF the motor in my class 58 fails, then it will either be replaced or the locomotive will be retired from service and put on static display.

  • I can see the Pendolino tilt at 2:52

  • hello mate what is the music that is with the class 58? thanks

  • @MrJezza31 - 'Butterfly' by Ryan Farish (available on Spotify/iTunes/Amazon etc)

  • @InterCity82 thanks mate very helpful i would love to see your 58001 on a load test as these 58s are rarther strong

  • @MrJezza31 - what a good idea! I shall make a video on just that :)

  • @InterCity82 you could do load tests on all your trains my strongest train although i have 2 vitrains 37s and a bachmann one on order is a hornby class 50 in br large logo! suprising heljan 86 came second place

  • great video man

I really like the class 37 locomotive you got there. I am mostly into North American RRs cuz I am in Canada. I remember riding the Intercity 125 from Cardiff to London I miss riding that train.

  • NOT'ARF!

  • @T0pper221 - lol it's just locos mate, no need for the apostrophe lol - the Bachmann 08 is nice but not special enough to me. This isn't a top 10 'best detailed' or 'best performing' list - it's just my personal favourite top 10. I guess the lease favourite loco I own would be either the class 06 (too fast and not very realistic) or the Caledonian Single Wheeler (very poor performance and awful overall quality).

  • @InterCity82 The goods master class six? You said and I quote:I love her to bits, she got me back into the hobby. and for that I love her forever!

  • @Bachmannmodeler - I love the Goods Master set as a set for getting me back into the hobby. The class 06 locomotive on its own did not get me back into the hobby, the set it came in did. I think as a locomotive she would have to appear in a different sort of top 10.

  • @InterCity82 hi will i need help desperatly,

Bassically i have gotten back into model trains and layouts from watching your videos for about a year now and i bassically want a nice layout but i dont know how to design one any help and also if i were to get 3 locos what would you suggest? thanks

    LKJ802

  • @lkj802 - sounds to me like you need to buy a magazine or two - and possibly a book or two as well. Check out your local newsagent/supermarket for a magazine/book on model railways and that will help you a lot :)

  • I only say it was a Kestrel because the angle of the shots and the colours it was painted in ( the same as your model), but from what your saying it wasnt but it was a dead ringer!

  • You mentioned that the Hawker Siddeley Kestrel may not be around any more but on Saturday night i was watching Transporter 3 (not my usual cup of tea!!) and at the end of the film the train he jumps his car onto (i know i know:(..) is being pulled by a Kestrel!!! So whether she is now being used for filming purposes may be interesting to find out :)

  • @biggkevv1973 - there are no remaining examples of the Hawker Siddley Kestrel. They were built in the UK, used a little bit, helped in the development of the Class 47 and then sold to Russia where it is thought (but not officially confirmed) that they were scrapped (after possibly being reverse engineered). What you saw was probably just a locomotive called 'Kestrel' not the Hawker Siddeley HS4000 built in the UK during the 60s.

  • what's the difference between a train and a locomotive

  • hi cograts with ur vid! i agree with the class 58 ive got a pack of 2 hornby 58 in EWS livery and one of my first as well

  • congrats

  • Whats the music track called at the end of the video if you know?

  • @MrRyan60 - I think it's called 'Butterfly' by Ryan Farish - available on Spotify/iTunes and Amazon, etc etc

  • its amazing how old model trains work or how they are

  • I'll treat this as a forum. My friend wants to sell me his 66 freightliner green and yello for 40 £ in good condition should I ????

  • @williwaler6 Go for it. They're usually double that, so you've got a real bargain on your hands.

  • i guessed you would probaly have the class 58 that you got and as you said first ever train you got.

fantastic video great to see the Pendolino in your top ten

  • @Whizzer1 - lol, yeah most people guessed that :)

  • 200th VIDEO!! Congrats :) You're awesome at editing videos :) You've got that top 10 just about right for me :) By the way, what do you prefer, EW&S or EWS? why is the 8F not in the top 10? I agree with you on the 58 :) :) The one person who dislikes this video mustn't though :( She certainly doesn't look the age she is though! It would be the same if I did y Top 10... my 40 yr old pannier tank taking top place, just for sentimental value! How long did u spend making this video?

  • @2002And - EW&S or EWS - doesn't bother me. The 8F is nice but just wasn't special enough to make it into the top 10 - to pick 10 locos when you have over 100 is tough going! Not being rude but I couldn't give a monkey's ass who likes or dislikes my videos - it's views and comments that count ;) This video took about 12 hours to make, including filming the footage, editing it together, encoding, etc etc.

  • @InterCity82 You certainly did a brilliant job of editing :) I am the same actually, I never really look at the thumbs section under the video. I like to take time making my videos.

  • You didn't have your 06 Shunter in that video. I would of thought you might of included it. Great editting in this video.

  • @ipodwindow, because it was the loco that got you back into model railways

  • @ipodwindow - true, but picking 10 locos out of over 100 is not easy. If I had put the 06 shunter in there, which one would I have taken out? The class 153? It's too good! The 0-4-0 shunter maybe? No! I love that little thing and have done for over 20 years. The G2A by Bachmann maybe? Well then there would be nothing from Bachmann in the top 10 at all! See, it's too hard. The 06 is still special, but rather, the set it came in is you see - not just the loco. :) :)

  • @InterCity82, Ok, I've only got 16 Locomotives so it won't be that hard for me tbh :). I have a video on my fleet of Locomotives. Also (completely different matter) have you ever use voice recording software on any other your videos, (I gess you used it on this one)? I have just started to do that on my videos and it makes them a lot better.

    Thanks

  • @ipodwindow - I think it depends on the video. I would not record my voice separately for an 'opening of' or 'review' as I like to talk as it happens, not orchestrate and plan it afterwards. For example I may find I'm amazed by the detail in the cab of a loco, and I want that to come across in the review - but if I recorded that afterwards it wouldn't be as authentic, and I would essentially be faking that enthusiasm. But for a video like this I did record the voice separately and add it in.

  • thanks are you getting a Intercity Swallow livery HST because i saw the class 58 pull the coaches

  • @class47peter - I do already have one :) Well, 2 sets of actually. Video to come.

  • i thought the 1st was going to be class50 nse because of the fan that works!

  • @somerandomalex - The class 50 is impressive but doesn't mean anything to me really. So it sadly didn't even make into the top 10.

  • @somerandomalex the hst has one the power car

  • how much was the class 37 it looks good

  • @miniadult12 - about £40 I think.

  • I must congradulate you on your 200th video i have been a fan of you videos for a long toime and must say i have seen the majority of your 200

Plus I have no chioce but to applaud the fact that the class 58 will never be chipped nor have a new buffer

Keep up the brilliant work Will i hope i see loads more in great videos in the future :D !!!

  • @browndog388 - hehe, thanks for the comment! :) I shall do my best to keep the videos good and to keep them coming!

  • congrats on the milestone! :D

  • @loghead19 - thank you! :)

  • hey will what is the song from the class 58 i really like it so relaxing

  • @lkj802 - Hi, erm I think it's called 'Butterfly' by Ryan Farish and you should be able to find it on Spotify/iTunes/Amazon etc etc :)

  • Great video and I certainly agree with a few of the locos you have chosen, especially the 153 and 390!. I feel the same about my Hornby 125 in Virgin livery as it was the first train I ever had. Cant beat a bit of childhood memories eh :)

  • @ApacheBravo - too true, too true! :) Nostalgia hey - can't beat it

  • class 58s look awsome. I might get one but i dno? You had emence editing, seriously!!! I want some editing but I cant afford any, im skint!

Do you know any for free that are good??

    Thanks! :)

  • @eanat11 - Can you maybe download a trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro? That's the editing suite that allowed this video to be made. It's very capable and veryp professional. And as for the 58s - yeah, I love them. They were made in the same year I was born too. :) 1982

  • @InterCity82 yh, but because its a trail version, your only allowed it for so many days.

Ill get 2 class 20's facing each other to look like a long one!

  • @eanat11 - GRRRRRRR! It's just class 20s - NO APOSTROPHE!

  • @InterCity82 ok

    PS:ive msg u

  • im getting two 58025 in coal sector and one in Mainline blue can't remeber the number

  • @class47peter - I think I know the ones you're on about, nice choice! :)

  • Nice music!

  • @Jacob4Tech - thank you :)

  • such a nice video. my favourite locomotive is the hornby 0-6-0 Q1

  • @Orochifinikusu - ahh yes I know the one you mean. Quite a design is that one!

  • LOL mate that was superb, the 58 section was done with respect the video was as fluff freeman would say ALRIGHT NOT ARF...............

  • @1968concorde - lol! haha yes, sadly a lot of the younger viewers won't get it - oh well :)

  • @InterCity82 im 43 and just remember first hearing the jingle on the alan freeman show at the time it might have been radio one as he was doing TOTPs i was 2 1969 ouch................

  • @1968concorde - haha :) Well I was born in 82 but I still know all about Alan 'Fluff' Freeman :)

  • @InterCity82 i know mate but you class,LOL

  • ha ha great love the radio 2 sterday top hits music 5*s

    the 6th engine isn't a Black 5 its a super D

  • @ShaurntheSheep - I said "there's nothing better apart from a Black 5 when it comes to pulling freight", reffering to the class G2A in the video. I use two main steam locos for pulling freight you see, a Black 5 and the class G2A in this video. But I picked the G2A over the Black 5 because she looks so different and is the only entry from Bachmann :)
