  • why the crap would you people be impressed with something so horrid

do you not have a life????????????????????????????

  • wtf was this about, to be honest i saw a probe of some sort get shot up and then crash on the moon, EXPLAIN!

  • Someone should tell Nasa you can't hear sound in space

  • @RajBoshMahal Somehow I don't think NASA made those sounds.

  • how i wish that people still possessed intellect and respected things like this. damn our species.

  • @bloodanddirt Oh, but we do possess the intellect. The problem is that by today's prevalent creeds, many people choose to hate the intellect, and hence things like this. Damn Kant!

  • @ReasonSharp valid point. nicely put.

  • @PillowcaseHead

if the purpose of our existence is only to help the poor, than we will one day all parish with little to nothing to ever be proud of.

  • Millions, and NASA saved a lot of money on the project before this (using their special instrumentation put on a Indian-made rocket). This was actually more cost effective.

  • interesting video!

my children go to school at the Lewis Center for Educational Research. also called AAE an Academic Charter school, funded in part by NASA and just yesterday, they both handed me a Certificate of Achievement for their participation in NASA's LCROSS

mission 2009.The school has 3 campuses here, one with a Observatory and the H.S. up the rd is a full state of the art laboratory for global satellite positioning and spacecraft missions...

i don't like THIS mission though!

  • @PillowcaseHead world apocalypse nuclear war 2012 exetra well if u belive

  • all of u are fucking dumb, shooting Lcross to the moon probably just another way that the USA show other countries the America destructive technology or maybe there's other reasons, but im sure is not things that either me or y'all can guess,so stfu...

  • Pure water, which would mean nothing if we do not soon become capable of interstellar travel and colonizing other planets, otherwise our species will become just another cosmic abortion before it ever really gets started - when the next large object impacts the earth. And one only need observe the pock-marked surface of the moon to see how often that happens.

  • Totally different situations.

  • That'd be cool, but that's not NASA's prerogative. Do you know what finding water on the moon could do for us?

  • what would that do for us?

  • Save us because of the pollution of water on Earth, not to mention developing countries with no access to pure water.

  • Wasn't a member of this Nasa Lcross lunar team spying for Israel??

  • According to Cosmic news the Lunar folks are preparing a counter attack. That's how bad things are. NASA is denying .......

  • Well now that everyone has wiped away the moon dust lets have a sense of reality. Science without Spirituality is Lifeless. We are not alone. And we should concentrate on managing Earth properly.

  • Science without spirituality is nature, you mean.

  • v k. co m /re g190 98665 THIS IS A COOOOL SITE

  • Take that stupid Martians!!!!

  • IT LANDED<

  • So there you have It.

No explosion, no war head, no moon broken in half , no probe shooting back at us, No "Cosmic Vandalism", no moon spinning out of orbit.

USAMADE69, where is your Two Ton nuclear war head crap you spewed out yesterday ?? Your comments are nothing but uneducated Conspritard Bull shit.

As goes for all of you other "doomsday" naysayers are so full of it and for ever will be.

  • NASA doesn't give a fuck about people going hungry. They are fucking unisef. Maybe one day when the Red Cross gets into scientific exploration of space then we can worry about their experiments. Until then NASA is going to spend their money on what NASA was founded for. Space exploration. As for the kids who think there are some sort of ET on the moon? All I can say is stay in school because you need as much education at this point as you can get with remarks like that.

  • AND YOU DO!!!! Shut the hell up! You think you're any better than NASA? Shiiiiiiiiiiiit...

  • wonder how much education you had... looks like your for a 3rd world... keep watching up-skirt videos

  • And so is YouTube, Google, Yahoo, and all that shit. Don't be a hypocrite, for Godsake. If you really gave a damn yourself, I'm sure you'd be doing more than posting a comment on YOUTUBE!!! You think NASA's bad? Dump your TV, computer, and any other luxury appliances you may have. See how you feel. Otherwise piss off!

  • NASA's job isn't to help the third world. We;ve got bigger problems here to deal with before moving on to other countries; besides, this could definitely help the third world by finding water. Obviously you don't know the purpose of the flight.

  • Ahhh...future space outpost. Cool. We have the tech now to shield ourselves from the radiation... unlike our last "visit."

  • Holy crap...I've checked out several videos and comments. Water on the moon? That's a decent excuse to play...LOL! BOOM!! Still not really seeing a good reason for this. "Look what we can do?" :-)

  • 0730 this morning: BOOM BOOM POW the aliens on the moon are going to be JOCKING OUR STYLE!

  • OMG WE ALL GOING DIE WHEN BLOW UP MOON IT BE LIEK BOOOM!!! AND AND!! BE LIKE MG MOON AND THEN BE LIKE OMG 2012!!!! AND ALL BORKEN MOON ROCKS AND LIEK BE COMEING TO EARTH AT 2012 AND LIKE LIKE KILL US ALL AT 2012 OMG O MY GOD!!!!!

    wtf?????

  • I just finished my observation.. great astronomical night!

BTW: fuck you too Cakerolled :)

  • fuck the moon

  • Omfg without NASA how would you guys even know about space? How would the irst person ever touch a different planet thn earth?? Theyre not fkn blowing up the moon! the rocket is 2.2 tons thts 2,200 pounds! The size of a car. And its flying off at 3:31 am my time! not july 8 or w.e And did u see how frikin small tht thing is compared to the moon?!?!? how can it ever blow up the moon?!?! Blowing up the moon would kill us when the pieces fall toward earth! ther wud b tsunamies and earthqakes!

  • The stupidity shown here is incredible. The moon won't be forced out of orbit. It's like hitting the ground with your hand, Does that shift the Earth? No. The moon has been hit by meteors with far more energy and it's still there.

NASA's budget is less than 1% of the total federal budget. So close NASA put that money into other programs. I'm SURE that health and social welfare programs will happily squander that one percent and give you nothing.

  • Agreed Lunar has nothing to fear. During the 2nd World War when the British fired the Germans ducked, when the Germans fired the British and Americans ducked, when the Americans fired the Germans, British and Americans ducked. So, for mankind to progress they have to introduce spirituality into their sciences.

  • @ summerstarsful1

And the US played the major role in defeating the Third Reich and saved you Brits from being part of expanding Nazi Germany through out Europe.

    Whats your point?

And to your post asking about higher authorities?? lol, No we're just doing it for shitz and giggles...under the cover of darkness. The "higher authorities" only think NASA is shooting off an Estes model rocket in the back yard....

    :rolls eyes:

  • You must have missed the part were it buddies up with a two ton nuclear warhead .... oh yeah! there is explosives!!!!!

  • You must have been reading the back of a milk carton or some Conspiracy forum to get your sources. Nor LCROSS OR the Sheepherding analyzing probe carry explosive or Ordnance. PERIOID. Stop spreading BS.

  • they're mad !

  • I'm amazed by all of the idiots who have posted comments. Thanks go out to all of the intelligent people who know a thing about space travel and aren't ignorant, Earth-centered imbeciles.

  • Lastly, Stop bashing science while at the same you couldn't live without what the Space program has given us in technology, that you use every single day of your lives.

  • OMG people, First off, LCROSS carries NO explosives of ANY kind. This Vid is VERY misleading showing fireball explosions. It uses Kinetic energy only! The Impactor is nothing more than an empty fuel tank which will be launched into a permanently shadowed crater, (which we cant see the bottom) ejecting lunar debris to be studied by the following Probe. Discovering lunar water Ice only cuts costs for future manned moon missions, demanding Hydrogen fuel, drinking, and oxygen shipped from Earth.

  • Earthquakes and hurricanes because we tried to find water on the moon? It wouldn't have enough of an effect, especially not on plate tectonics, to cause natural disasters.

  • What higher authorities? Haven't you seen the flag? The moon is US territory :-D

We blow the shit out of the Earth everyday when making roads, mining, etc. This is no different.

The moon is constantly being bombarded by stellar objects.

Give me one scientific reason why this isn't a legitimate method to look for large water reservoirs?

  • WOW! Amazing what they do with our tax dollars these days ... maybe they should have put a couple of crash dummies in this multi-billion dollar project too.

  • can i be tat crash dummy?

  • guys i had to watch this in class

  • "HAD".

I think you should change your post to: "Guys I was Privileged to watch this in class"

  • I thought theres like no sounds in space? because sound doesnt has air to travel through? : P how can the explosion make sound? xP

  • Are there any people on the board?

  • no xD

  • Obviously not.

  • This mission sounds like a very, very bad idea to me.

  • I know exactly how you feel.

  • Are you kidding me?

There is absolutely NO reason why they shouldn't do this, and it is in fact a great idea.

  • How do you know that?

  • Think what you want. I'm sure you know more about NASA than NASA does.

  • will it be visible with naked eye/175 X telescope?

  • LRO/LCROSS launched successfully at 5:32 p.m. EDT on Thursday June 18!

The first steps toward our Return to the Moon have begun!

I saw the first manned landing when I was little. I hope very much to see another!!!

    GO LRO!!!

  • Interesting video, Couple of things to note; The launch will be on an Atlas 5 v401, so there are no strapons. The Centaur on this flight will be painted white and will have the LCROSS logo on it, and the fairing will have the LRO logo on the vertical portion with the LCROSS logo slightly smaller on the conical upper portion.

On the impact, it should be at a 70-80 degree angle depending on the launch day and time of departure within the launch window (1hr).
