  • BEAUTIFUL MOVIE!!!.......my favorite part is when tom cruise looks at the little boy at the dinner table and he's like.......AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! funny part!

  • Simply amazing

  • "I come to this place of my ancestors, and I remember. Like these blossoms, we are all dying. To know life in every breath, every cup of tea, every life we take. The way of the warrior....That is Bushido." - Katsumoto

  • The last part is so touching...

  • The first time I heard this gorgeous piece of music I was brought to tears on just how beautifully orchestrated it was and how it illustrated the final days of the samurai.

  • Love this song , been finding it for ages . Now i can rest while listening to this

  • i love this song ^_^

  • That peace we all search for and only a few find

  • this piece of music describes the peace and tranquility we all want to feel but never can

  • This piece truly is a small measure of peace

  • Hans Zimmer is just incredible--rarely, do I come across a movie soundtrack of his which isn't top notch

  • This song was in my head all the time I was in Japan...I cried all the way to the airport when I had to leave...

In a few years I will return.

    There's no place like home...

  • Because I found a small measure of peace...

  • @yanyanyanyan70

There is the place we call home and there are the places we have been before, it is a pleasure to meet the ones we have loved and lived with. Hai, Japan; a different place; a different time

  • This music has impacted me in a way i never thought possible. I believe it is a masterpiece of no equel. Well done Hans Zimmer.

  • hans zimmer knows how to pull at the heart strings....Magnificent!

  • It's beautiful song

  • I find that small measure of peace every time whenever I listen to this music and close my eyes to picture myself coming over the sloping hills to see that small village... And every time I do, I feel my tears roll over my face.

  • ...But I like to think, he may of at last, found some small measure of peace, that we all seek, and few of us ever find.

  • I love this movie because it exemplifies respect not just for those in your community but also among your enemies. America military system has a long way to learn about respect. It's all about showing whose powerful. Well, they weren't powerful enough in Vietnam and it's being repeated in the current war.

  • @acuison1 The us military is all about power and they all are douchebags but what are you talking about? They aren't losing their current war....in fact they're beating the hell out of al Qaeda

  • @acuison1 What the hell are you talking about? Show respect? we should show respect to terrorist/extremist? Yeah, your on the crack pipe buddy!

  • its so sad when he gets beat up for being an american not a samurai by that guy who only serves the lord

  • Every time I listen to this i am fighting back the tears. DAM it's beautiful

  • I just can't understand how can someone dislike, this beautiful harmony.

  • 6:13 welcome to Heaven

  • @trentinodoc totally agree!

  • Still one of my favorite Hans Zimmer scores, and it's very hard to pick favorites. The first time I heard this was prior to seeing the movie, and it got me even then. Of course, then I saw the film and the tears kept flowing! :)

  • yup. The legendary Hans Zimmer.

  • i knw i m insane, but the simplicity n puritiy of this movie is an aid 2 me.........n its music power.........explicit yet cnt be explained.........such a powerful n incredible flow of feelings n character alongwith the beauty f words, its a fight for valour, dignity n truth!

  • What does it mean when all good things must come to an end ?

  • @BlaringSnake40 it means its boosting many other good things..................just like the dead leaf provide nourishment 2 many other new seeds.......

  • @eternalfriendship08 but why must all good things come to an end.

  • @BlaringSnake40 nothing comes 2 an end,its a chain f start n end,life n death,so everything could live again with new n high energy..........

  • @eternalfriendship08 that sounds so sad especially when 24 and Harry Potter ended.

  • Warning: This song may cause the following --->

    A "one-mind" sense of focus.

A sense of overwhelming respect and honor.

    Tearful emotion.

Determination to fight for what is right and true.

An acute sense of readiness to whoop ass with a samurai sword at a moments notice.

  • @Kelvin702 "no mind...too much mind....no mind"

  • one of these movies that made me cry

  • Samurais ...

  • if this movies doesnt move you in any way whatsoever, no matter how small, then you deserve to die

  • love music from Hans Zimmer !!!!

  • Hans Zimmer, what a legend!!!!!

  • Last 2 minutes of this is absolutely beautiful, no other sound compares. Stunning.

  • BEST MOVIE EVER 6:23 MOST EPIC MOMENT IN MUSIC HISTORY

  • @assais i totally agree with u

  • The Answer To 1984 Is 1776 "Alex Jones"

  • only one dislike. that's because the 27 others were dealt with by the samurai.

great theme though. and i loved the movie.

  • I highly respect the Japanese people and the Samurai. I culture and time I wish I was born into. I am a fellow Irishman wishing that I could be part of the people, the peace and harmony that the ancient Japanese culture offers. Samurai are real warriors, people of discipline and perfection. How must one do this? I will always honor the Samurai.

  • The workers of Fukushima prove that the honourable Samurai spirit is preserved by the brave people of Japan.I cant find a word for the respect I have for your people.

Greetings from Serbia, our praires and hearts are with you friends!

  • One person chopped their ears off with a katana

  • It's really about the music and in some cases the movie from which the music came on YT, isn't it?

Can' we enjoy that without the political and personal comments, including that of Tom Cruise's religion? This is a beautiful piece and the movie very emotive. Surely that's why we get on to YT.

  • The movie is all most real. The samurai's way ended in 1875, and Americans, I am sure, were angered by the Japanese. Over all this movie was very great, the actors, songs, and lastly the story about a nation built by war.

  • my brother has lived in japan for 6 yrs and speaks fluently but about 99.9 people from japan would tell u that this movie is crap, i disagree cause i went there and 99.9 of japanese mentality is pro state and have no love for past. I went to the castle in kanazawa and they treated it like shit while i looked it as something i wish i had in the USA

  • Great movie. I wonder if it is close to true history though because movies don't let truth stand in the way of a good story. Wonderful theme - so emotive.

  • from 6:30 to 7:58 the beautiful ending scene where algren returns to the samurai villiage and gazes in taka's eyes. great ending before the credits.

  • whatever you say about tom cruise, from his scientology to his big teeth or evil laugh. the man is a great artist.

  • @WoWandDarkness true dude, great warriors gone aways

  • As for the American Captain, no one knows what became of him. Some say that he died of his wounds. Others, that he returned to his own country. But I like to think he may have at last found some small measure of peace, that we all seek, and few of us ever find

  • Great movie. Say whatever you want about his religion. Some people i guess thinks their religion is better than others. His acting has nothing to do with religion. He is a great actor and i allways look forward to his new film. The last samurai is a beautiful movie. If i would set up a poster in my home of any movie. This would be it. /S

  • The feeling starts at 6:40

  • The perfect blossom is a rare thing.

You could spend your life looking for that , and it would not be a wasted life.

  • @JackScrolls Perfect, its all perfect.

  • I cried when I saw the movie...

    and I'm japanese...

I will never give up and I will forever love my country and my people...

  • @yanatsu02 if only everyone could say that about their own country .. Japan is a true gem in my opinion.. never been there to be honest, but i would love to !

  • @acuity1980 maybe my emotions are so strong because I grew up away from home and I always dreamed of going back...and so, after all these years...I learn to live with the true "japanese heart" and appreciate my culture more than anything...

  • Tom Cruise did not kill Oprah !

  • @eolingars

Of course he didn't i did

  • few songs make me cry....this is one of few exceptions

  • too all fighters in the world live with honor die with honor ...................

  • @pitbullkenan

    And train to reach perfection:-)

  • a truly wonderfull story with one of the best actors in the world. this man can play every roll just like johnny depp and brad pitt and keanu reeves. not many can do that.

  • @23viktor23 keanu reeves.....seriously? that guy is as good as actor as soulja boy is fat....

  • @ProfessaJ your really blind i think. or you like actors like jim carrey or cameron diaz who can only play a single role. bad joker and full-tine slut

  • @23viktor23 ok Helen Keller, before you start calling people blind and pulling assumptions out of your ass, don't get all into your feelings buddy lol hop off Keanu's dick lol Depp is a beast, that i can understand, it was just an opinion Mr. Sensitive...

  • @ProfessaJ wauw, who's making the assumptions now. helen keller, pulling out of my ass and get of dick. damn son you got your dusty crossword dictionary out of the bookcase. it's ok i would feel depraved too if i got banged by Justin Bieber. just take it easy with your Justin boyfriend. you'll be back on your knees towards him in no time

  • @23viktor23 ok here's the deal 1-Learn to spell lol 2- I hope your having fun responding and being childish 3- You must be a very very lonely person...with nothing to do but talk mad shit on the net for no good reason, have fun buddy lol merry xmas

  • I love this, Hans Zimmer is the man. the film was good too :P

  • Tell me how he died.

I will tell you how he lived.

  • @EvangelineSky these words makes me sad :(

  • @EvangelineSky He walked across the street and car hit him. Now your turn, do your best!

  • we cannot forget who we are one of the best lines in the film that goes for all cultures. we must learn to embrace all races for which we should cherish in our diversity as a human being and see the gift of being unique in each ethnicity. the world would be boring otherwise.

  • @snookman2

Unfortunately the opposite is happening today. Its sad.

  • This music is on GUN

  • I wish that I was right in the recording studio watching them play this piece. I think it wud be even more magical watching them play through the whole thing non stop

  • can anyone tell me what the name of the music is thats playing when katsumoto dies ?

  • @oricalcross It's called 'The Way Of The Sword'.

  • Magical music to practice Kobudo too

  • Love it!

  • beautiful :'D

  • Hans Zimmer Rules...

    Period.

  • 6:14. DA-DA DAD DUH DA DUH

  • @TheIvoryKeys lol

  • This album is extremely good... D:

  • Hans Zimmer is GREAT. i love his music, ever!

And this movie is so...incredible. I always cry in commotion, every time i watch it...

  • so the moral of the story is, religion is a load of poo, this movie is good, so is its music and all its actors. amen

  • It sucks the samurai code of honer isnt here with us today

  • a warrior carriers with him the tools of wars. but he also carriers hornor and the remembers of his fallen brothers. remember life in every breath we take. live for today and not tomrrow. live life as if its your last. live it what respect and hornor. only then you will know what it means to be a true warrior. life in every breath we take. always remeber never forget

  • respect to all died warriors !!!

  • Its "Hans Zimmer" not Zimmerman

  • Comment removed

  • everytime i listen to this i think about the past and bad things ive done ...always brings a tear to my eye.

  • This piece of magic stole my heart away...

  • hans zimmerman \o/

  • God right before 6:12 and especially after is orgasmic, one of my favorite movie soundtracks ever.

  • ^music fit the mood everytime they'd play it

  • i could think about my life when i listened to this song...hans zimmer is great

  • great music from great movie

  • This movie had one of the best music scores ever..

  • yes i agree. too bad that lord of the rings won the oscar for best soundtrack... for the third time.. =/

  • which is the main theme to the movie?

  • I always thought Tom Cruise was kinda weird, and the whole Scientology thing really put me off, but after seeing this movie I knew there was some good in him :)

Despite all his flaws, I thought his performance in this was great (although Hans Zimmer probably had a little something to do it lol)

  • lol not even tom cruise could ruin a hans zimmer-ed movie

  • Lol I know, now when I watch movies if the soundtrack isn't very good I just can't get into it. Hans has totally spoiled me :P

  • fuck you, without Tom Cruise this movie would not have even been made.

  • @Maxfield93 does it really matter he's in to scientology. its no different then beleiving in god or jesus all of its man made but people fail to realize it they just beleive in any old thing without looking into its history. blind faith basicly

  • @superman0479 Well there are many differences(though I think all religions are fairly silly). Those religions are grounded upon thousands of years of history and teachings.Scientology on the other hand was created by a science fiction writer, and the foundation of its philosophy is widely unaccepted in the scientific community.I simply think that belief in any religion is to some degree illogical, but some are more than others.Ancient texts>mid life crisis scam invented by science fiction writer

  • @Maxfield93 ummm sorry to tell you but religions are not grounded they are all science fiction. made up storys written by man. history proofs that. scientology is no diiferent then a person beleiving in god or jesus. religion shows how close minded we are. we would beleive in man made gods but we fail to belevie in ourselves and eachother.

  • @superman0479 Why are you arguing with me, I don't even like religion? My point is only that it's a lot weirder to believe in a ridiculous mid life crisis scheme with fake science than ancient philosophies that teach moral lessons. Who are you going to feel more comfortable with, a person that follows a moral code from an ancient text of metaphors, affirmations, and lessons, or the person who follows the writings of a science fiction writer and pays money to gain rank in a secretive cult?

  • @Maxfield93 im not getting argue at you bro my point is its really no different then beleive in any other religion and its all science fiction. also the bible wasnt even real it didnt happen they made it up just like they made up scientology and all that others. and what moral code or lessons did the bible teach huh? because i didnt see anything good about its lessons. i see with open eyes not close eyes

  • @Maxfield93 tom did a great job in the movie.....true

  • @Maxfield93 thing about movies is hes only acting. Hes a scientiologist sure, but wierd doesn't equal bad

  • @gohan2042004 after all we do have freedom of religion in america :D

  • @Maxfield93

he allways has something to do with it hes a fucking legend

  • @Maxfield93 Why would what he believes put you off? Judgmental much? I feel like you think people who dont follow major religions are freaks. Come on.

  • @BFraunch Actually people who follow major religions also put me off. Also, are you really that surprised that someone would be put off by scientology? I mean religion and philosophy probably divide people more than any other thing. i wasn't trying to offend anyone, in fact I was commenting on how the caliber of his performance helped me get past his personal beliefs and appreciate his work. I am slightly perplexed at your comment, so lets just enjoy the music :D

  • @Maxfield93 I'm glad you got past it, but the point I was trying to make was that I don't think you should just dislike people based on their religious or philosophical beliefs. Every religion is as crazy and irrational as the rest. The fact that Scientology is newer doesn't make it any worse. I have my own beliefs, but I don't think others should follow them, and I don't want people to put their's on me, and I don't want to let beliefs people have obstruct my appreciation of them.

  • @BFraunch I never said I disliked him. I said that I thought he seemed a little weird (the general crazed and overly intense personality lol), and that his passion for a religion founded by a science fiction writer made me feel less of an affinity for him. If you can't understand how someone who thinks psychiatry is evil and believes in something (E-meters, immortal aliens, etc.) without any empirical evidence could be off-putting to another, then I'm at a loss for words.

  • @Maxfield93 Uh... What you just said about empirical evidence, just made you sound ignorant. Empirical evidence is evidence that is "provable or verifiable by experience or experiment." Christianity, for example, has no "empirical evidence" behind it. Psychiatry is evil (Scientology) just as being a homosexual sends you to hell (many branches of Christianity). Get my drift?

  • @BFraunch Did you even read my first response to you? I said that all religions put me off, for the reason that I just stated (and the one you condescendingly misinterpreted) , being that they have no evidence (or at least no empirical evidence) to support them. First you say I dislike him, then you claim that I am biased against scientology and not other religions. Please don't put words in my mouth.

  • @Maxfield93 well thats a bit unfair. What he does in his private life is nothing to do with what he does on screen. I couldnt care less what these actors get up to.

  • ...perfect.

  • life without honour ??? no no that is the life of money rich diamond ........is that life ???? i think everday too my brothers were i was born and grown up with them )))) miss them ......

  • i saw this film yesterday. august the 8th 09. what a day that was!

  • I really think long what I will write for comment... Well music really makes me cry inside me when I think they destiny at the end of movie and about hole life. Who made this theme have seen the light...

  • This song is one of the reasons why this movie was so incredible...The end where all the samurai get slaughted, is amazing (unfortunatley not for the samurai), but this song makes it even more perfect..

  • amazing piece of music

  • possible the most beatiful piece of music ive ever heard

  • absolutly the best peice of music iv ever heard,

one day ill be rejoined with my bethren.

    [Smiles wamly, ands kneels]

Such aesthetical serenity.. Such rectifying tranquility for the Soul and Heart...
