  • i would call it a reskin since its still the same level structure, just modified to change the lighting and add advertisment like banners, dont get me wrong i have no problem with reskin's since there are some good ones out there.

    one question i do have though, if you guys did an overhaul on the levels then why did you guys just not map out some classic style levels yourselves? that would make it a lot better and possibly fit with the anime locations?

  • It's a double tribute, so we tried to enhance our best the original 9 levels.

    All level sectors and lighting had been reviewed, levels looks similar but are adapted to handle 104px height sprites.

    Concerning "banners", 6 linedefs on 7000 ones. It's just to proud we made it.

    Concerning new maps, next step would be exclusive online maps, made my really known mappers.

    Just see WIP to celebrate "Fist Of The North Star" 25th anniversary.

    For this occasion, a video trailer will be available soon.

    Levels architecture look similar but is totally different, new lights, ceils adapted for bigger sprites on OpenGL...

    The only thing that left is the 3D engine, and its algorithm is GNU/GPL since 1997...

  • the doom.exe is not even OpenGL... this confuses me, why have OpenGL compatibility for something that requires an NON-OpenGL engine to run?

    isnt that redundant?

  • In fact on OpenGL ports, the caracters are considered as 3D objets, but on some big sprites, the Z axis generates collision.

    See "sprites head cutted" video from the tests on this channel, you'll understand.

    Unfortunally runs only on Custom PSP's using 3.** firmwares.

    If you can't play PSP version, you can easily try the PC one. Simply go on "HOKUTO NO DOOM TEASER" video, all listed in.

    It's amusing see the enemies exploding while they scream like in the cartoon.

    The only thing i don't understand is, why haven't you used an image like your avatar to do the expressive face?

    Concerning your note...

    Well, simply due to some size restriction of this area in the game, available color palette, an in order to fit the best the original Doom space-marine face expressions.
