  • yeah, show them Santa:)

  • Why do some of these videos have a bunch of dislikes?

  • @mickeymouse12678 Peter Popoffs 142 accounts disliked this.

  • That is one amazing pair of boots! Must be Nike!

  • The man always lives up to his name-- amazing. I'm sure Penn & Teller would agree. Other than Randi, they are about the only magicians who are truly entertaining & interesting.

  • As for Uri Geller-- he's a fucking loser! Oops! Maybe he'll try to sue me for this comment. James Randi is a legend of truth. Geller will always be a dismal, sleazy magician.

  • James Randi, escaping like a Boss!

  • I wonder if he could still do it today?

  • I wonder where that jacket is?

  • i thought he was going to break out of the feet restraints, plunge into the watery depths and appear next to them

  • Randi you're the man! ;-)

wow that's a fit old man.

  • i admire James Randi and anyone else who has the nerve to do this stunt !

  • So what does this prove exactly? That he can free himself from a straight jacket upside down anywhere?

  • Its just a magic trick :P

  • @darlingdino it's not the feat, it's the spectacle. It isn't too hard to get out of a straight jacket if you know how but lets see you hold your nerve suspended above niagara falls!

  • @darlingdino Better a bitter skeptic than a blind believer.

  • @ProbableFiction It's better to ask and receive. By not being negative, I have everything I've ever wanted and more. You should try it sometime. I'm not bitter or blind. I'm happy and healthy :)

  • @darlingdino it's better to live in reality. you're going off on a tangent about having a better lifestyle than a stranger on the internet.

  • @zackhanscom Yep sure am and am happy :)

  • 47!!! my respect for JR just grows and grows:)

  • LOL YEAH RIGHT!

  • Using Randi's scepticism - his face isn't show after he escapes - how do we truly know it was him?

Editing and all that...and 1975 - colour keying?

Anyway love the bloke, and love his attacks on faith healers who are the scum of the earth.

  • Penn & Teller do the same thing. It forces magicians to keep their craft fresh.

  • @crittertv

    first off it says "famous"

    not "foremost"

    secondly,

a lot of people do believe that shit so i think he is doing a service to society

thirdly, if i'm not mistaken i think he traveled doing his magic for like 40 years

that's a pretty long time to stay in business if you suck

    just saying

  • You seriously have NO idea what you're talking about! He has not dedicated himself to debunking his own craft (which is magic and artistry), he is debunking charlatans and people who say that they have genuin psychic powers (healing, dowsing, etc.), AND who wants to get payed for it! There is a difference. Randi has devoted many years of his life trying to enlighten people and show them/us for example, that a man with the ability to bend spoons not neceseraly has genuin psychic powers.

  • @crittertv Nice display of utter ignorance of both JR's career and what he does to promote science and rational thinking.

  • dont be shittin on the Randi you dumb little fuck

  • all you do is you hold your arms bent and somewhat out from your body when they are putting the straight jacket on and this gives you enough slack where you can get out of the straight jacket. of course it takes some balls to get hung upside down over the falls.

  • Did you see him flip off at the end there? Rather spry for an old man

  • 47 isn't that young, but Jackie Chan's 55 now, and is still pretty supple! But I don't think Chan's a clever as Randi...

  • I wonder if they could have imagined then that in an age of nonsense and human beings running back to their caves, that he would be remembered past his lifetime for educating people.

    Thanks Randi.

  • All of his magic tricks are nothing. He is a brilliant mind and a valuable debunker of pseudoscience. He is a hero of rationality.

  • who gives a shit?

  • Good trick, good trick, amigo .. But I for once, I escaped from a mexican jail

  • I wonder who votebotted this video?

  • how old is he now? almost 100?

  • Randall James Hamilton Zwinge

    August 7, 1928 (age 80)

    Toronto, Ontario, Canada

  • Back when they didn't care about littering. I mean who is going to go get that straightjacket? Anyway, I don't care that much because it was a cool stunt. It's not like he threw his fast food trash on the side of the road like my parents used to do.

  • The straight jacket is probably of natural fibers and would have naturally disintegrated.

  • Touché.

  • Why do people vote-bot Randi :'(

  • When I saw the ratings I was like, "Wtf?"

  • nonono don't drop it! Aw shoot, now we're never getting the deposit back on that straight jacket...

Just joking. What he wasn't doing there was a magic trick, it was just a demonstration of how insanely awesome he is!

  • woW!! aWesome!! :oD

  • Whoa, that put chills up my spine!

  • Folks, do not do this at home.

  • I think it's a safe bet no one has Niagara Falls in their home.

  • Wow, nothing gets by you, does it, mackey?

  • James randi is a TOTAL BADASS!

  • Why does the narrator make me think of the penguin?

  • @sagekat3 Probably because he's Burgess Meredith..

  • james randi is one cool motherfucker.

  • i'd be freakin scared to do that!

  • The man has had a white beard and essentially been about 68 years old his entire life. How is that possible? That's the amazing thing about him.

  • it a mental state. basically he says to himself " you must suvive, who else will annihilate all the psuedoscience?"

  • It's where he stores his BS defeating powers. The beard only appears to be white in daylight, you see. In the dark, it glows with his awesomeness. I've heard it keeps him awake nights...

  • Makes perfect sense. The beard is all misdirection.

  • no no under the beard is another equally impressive beard.

  • and under that - a fist

  • That video is so 70's I just painted my bellbottoms puke orange.

  • very, very skillfull... man it must be a bitch to arrest an escape artist haha =D

  • OMG SCARY!!!!

  • I can't imagine how cold it must have been over those falls, it's chilly next to those falls even on a summer night.

  • This is really old and Randi still looks the same!

  • Randi is like Barbara Walters, both were born looking old.

  • You've obviously have never seen pictures of Randi when we was in his 20's and 30's. He was already in his late 50's in this video.

  • Which makes the escape even more impressive.

  • That's all misdirection. Randi was hatched in a fashion similar to those beasts in Lord of the Rings. He has always been about 62 years old with white beard and ready for battle. This was Randi's infant state, so to speak. Since he was hatched and not actually "born," it accounts for the negative vibes that prevent all legit psychics from winning the million. The bad vibes infect the psychics even though Randi does not know the time of the test. I read all this on youtube, so it must be true.

  • @pitbull103 k so we are doing james randi jokes instead of chuck norris jokes i get it now haha

  • wasnt he born in 1928? that would make him 47 in this.

  • two of the artists I admire; George Carlin is dead; now only Randi left

  • Wow.. I just love this guy!

  • amazing

  • niagara falls not niagra falls

  • Great video, nice work James. I would've shat myself.

  • James Randi always looks the same, with that white beard...like a wizard that never ages....Hmmmm

  • This is because he regurlaly takes an anti-aging homeopathy treatment.

    :-O

  • lol, everyone knows James Randi is into all that homeopathy goodness :p

  • I think this was in 1975.

Great stuff. And to think Uri Geller built a career on bending a spoon...

  • something tells me Randi's legacy will be longer lasting tho

  • When was this?

  • Feb 1975 on the Canadian TV program World of Wizards.
