  • nice, but instead of fries and oj try fruit and water. and those buns are good but thick so just use sliced ww bread instead. imo...

  • im not a vegetarian, but im a HUGE fan of the healthy benefits of certain vegan meals :3 ♥

  • Are you vegan? :)

  • @lyric142 Yes, he is.

  • I love Morningstar, you should try the black bean veggie burgers they are the best burgers.

  • @287ish The Spicy ones? I like those. They're pretty good :)

  • @287ish Kinda high on carbs but they taste good.

  • I love your videos happy [:

  • I didn't know there were microwave fries ....I'm going to try them ......your plate looks good enough for network cooking show .

  • I just ate my lunch and I'm still hungry. Gimme!

  • HAAHA MOON BABY MOON BABY

  • Haha Toast Buns. :P

  • hey hey! Have you tried intellectus 424 diet (do a search on google)? Ive heard some unbelivable things about it and my work buddy lost lots of weight with it.

  • Holla! Have you considered intellectus 424 diet (do a google search)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my friend lost lots of weight with it.

  • I wonder if using a leaner meat is better. I always thought Turkey Burgers were pretty healthy/

  • Wehoo ! Nice to know your'e going the healthy path ! :)

Keep it up, even if sometimes it's hard, controlled portions and many meals will help you ! If you can throw a little 30 mins of exercice each day ( walking counts ! ) it'll be even better !

Check out scoobysworkshop . He's really a good chap and has lots of tips ;)

  • I hope you make more videos like this because I think it is a great idea and I would like to try new things.

  • thumbs up if you dint giggle :D

  • Love the video, I don't need to loose weight but I def. will try this.

Favorite if you reply to this comment. :D

  • Come on Happy I thought you were going to teach us how to make a veggie burger from scratch, not a pre-made one

  • yes you should make more of them and post on you tube. its great to learn online

  • Hey, I cook a lot of veggie burgers. I highly suggest thawing the burgers in microwave first before putting in frying pan. Just cook for 35-40 seconds in microwave then fry in olive oil. I made a video to put on youtube for it.

  • fat doesn't make you fat, carbs do dude.

  • @bigbobabc123 and calories.

  • Black bean burgers are pretty damn good too but I'm not sure if they're mass produced or not. We have a restaurant here that you'd love called "The Greenhouse Grille" (you know it's good when there's an extra 'e'), it's not all vegan/vegitarian but that's the greater part of the menu. I love their black bean burger and sweet potato fries! A little liquid smoke might be good on those veggie burgers to add some flavor.

  • Have you ever tried making kale chips? If you ever get a craving for chips, kale chips are a delicious alternative. Wash 1 bunch of kale, remove stems, tear into bite-size pieces. toss with a little olive oil (just a little) and about 1 tsp sea salt plus any herbs/spices you want. Bake at 250 degrees F for 20-30 minutes, turning once halfway. They should be crispy like a potato chip, and still green. Guilt Free!

  • if you want to be serious about losing weight in the long term, you need to wean yourself off ready made food all together. basically anything that comes in those boxes.

  • It looked good although im more of a meat person but i like a lot of veggies on the side :)

  • awesome video

  • Well it looks good but I'd rather keep a regular fairly healthy diet then splurge and have a real burger and a nice cold coke.

  • Damnit, you're making me hungry and I just finished my bagel-wich. Fine, then I'll have to eat these carrots and fruit I brought with the lunch. See what you're driving me to?! Fruit and vegetables! I hope you're happy!

  • Those looks pretty good actually, and I've always loved potatoes. Might have to try those someday. Substitute some Fiber One in for those fries and we're in business! Fiber One, by the way, is the greatest cereal ever created. For maximum enjoyment and health value, go with the Honey Clusters variety: it has 13 grams of fiber, and 6 grams of sugar, thus, healthy. =D

  • I eat those same vegi burgers and I make them fried like that also. I also loved the Emperor new grooves "boom baby" thing you did when you put them in the pan lol.

  • if you put some water in the pan when you are frying the veggie burgers it keeps the taste and juiciness, and also gives it the fried taste

  • I LOVE veggie burgers and Im not even vegetarian or vegan. MorningStar are good but I like Boca even more. They taste more like actual burgers plus have fewer calories. Great video! And yeah, I giggled at the toasted buns comment :P

  • Their is no real nice way to ask this without sounding like an ass, so please don't take it that way.

Are you telling the truth about your diet and exercise?

I was 75lbs over weight last year and just made up my mind to lose it, and I did in 3 month, and your weight loss tips/routine/diet/exercise is head and shoulders above/better/stricter than mine was.

Someone your size using those guidelines you claim in your videos should be able to drop 50lbs easily a month, easily.

  • @Connected2U2 Cabbie has stated before that he has a problem where when he gets very emotional he binge eats. This has attributed to him having a harder time losing weight.

  • hey I made a video for jpmetz about how I lost weight. I am a vegetarian that is just something that really worked for me. Good luck losing weight.

  • atleast you are not eating junk food!

  • Aww, I thought you were going to show us how to make veggie burgers from scratch. Thanks for the video anyway, it was fun to see it starting off in a familiar style for a cooking show. :-) That part made me smile, listening to some elevator style music. ;-) Keep up the good work! :-D

  • This seems very interesting. I plan to some day try this recipe. Seems like a much better alternative to fast food. Thanks for the idea!

And LOL, 'Toast my buns.' Ok, I admit, I laughed.

I especially laughed hard when you gave us a second to do so. XD

  • @twiikimchi Good comment, well said. I'm totally with you on that one. Especially about the laughing part. XD

  • Don't we all wish that ALL comment threads on YouTube were actually useful and on-topic like this comment thread! Win for the vid and Win for the comment section!

  • This video is making me hungry, but I'm cooking breakfast right now, so the smell of it cooking is making me hungrier. lol

I like to cook my veggie patties in a frying pan as well, preferably in olive oil. I don't add cheese though... I have borderline high blood pressure, and cheese has a lot of sodium, on top of the veggie patties being kind of high enough already... : /

  • I would rather have a greasy Philly Cheese steak, onion rings and a Sam Adams beer. =)

  • @Bismarck3000 Top that off with a Tastykake!

  • Happy cabbie's eating healty: brought to by our sponsors Burger King & Youtube no that would have been a funny intro

  • very good you should make more videos. I myself bake everything except my eggs so the fat drains away. The OJ reminds me i gotta get more of that & fruit for smoothies

  • i have had veggie dogs before didnt mind them havent had the burgers yet , you should do more reviews on some different foods . how were the microwave fries never seen or had them before , i am used to eating potatoes (all types) at least once a week and had to cut them out of my diet . gonna look for some veggie burgers and try them on the grill

  • juice has a lot of empty calories and a ton of sugar. Avoid it, drink water. If you have to have a flavored beverage, get a juice and cut it with water. Ice helps. Also, those fries have terrible oil. Its extra work, but if you need em, try make it homemade with coconut oil or such. Anyway, good video.

  • How did you know I giggled!? You can see the future!

  • Sliced soya cheese ... yet haven't seen it here but could be also good for me - not only because of my weight but also because of lactosis.

I tried some other veggie products. A veggie schnitzel of course also doesn't taste like a real schnitzel but it's still tasting pretty good. And of course much more healthier. I should actually also change about what I'm eating ... liver values are close to the fatty liver area and cholesterol is too high (especially LCL).

  • make sure that the calcium fortified orange juice has some magnesium with it other wise you won't absorb the calcium, you get magnesium from green plants like the lettuce but you need a lot of green leaf vegetables to get enough magnesium.

  • that looks so good O.O I need to try this...

  • Morning star is awesome. One of my favorites!

  • Happy I bet your cooking is awesome [:

  • Now I'm craving a veggie burger, lol

Maybe I'll go make myself one, I do love veggie burgers. I've been starting to eat them instead of normal burgers because their healthier, and it's easy because they taste great.

  • That looks awesome

  • Good = I liked this video

Bad = I'm now hungry and its 1am (in the UK) :P

  • @ourhandsaretied I feel your pain :P

  • I love these cooking videos make more

  • "Now doesn't that look delicious?"

    Yes, it does.

  • Hey Cabbie, just wanted to give you a suggestion in case you want to try something new. You make a recreation of the McDonald's snack wrap by replacing the meat with a veggie patty, it's very tasty! Cheers!

  • Hmm....I might actually try those veggie burgers. Look good and I wouldn't have to feel guilty eating them!

  • Tips for a speedier weight loss: One burger should be enough, and you should drink water, diet soda, or something without calories. If you enjoy the taste of orange, eat oranges for dessert, it will fill you up more with fewer calories. Fries is never a good thing, eat something else as a side. If you have to have potato, you should rather boil or bake it. If a smaller dinner does not fill you up, you should snack more on fruit and vegetables during the day. Many small portions is the key.

  • @prophetchannel

One burger is great advice, skipping the fries in favor of a salad is also a better idea.

I disagree on your advice for a drink. Diet soda is a terrible choice, the sodium levels in it is through the roof.

  • @ThieleM Well, for dieting purposes, diet soda is better than orange juice, though not optimal. I prefer drinking sugary soda once in a while, but using water for everyday purposes, where I sometimes add lemon for taste. Fruit juice means removing fiber from fruit, and has the danger of being too high on calories without filling you up, although they are excellent for vitamins. But you can get the same result eating fruit or making a smoothie.

  • @prophetchannel

    True.

This recipe could become fruit juice friendly by replacing the fries with a salad and only having one burger.

  • @prophetchannel well again, veggie burgers are not part of my regular diet. I only bought them just to do this video. My diet mainly consists of rice, lentils, frozen veggies, and vegan soups.

The purpose of this video was to give people some alternatives when everyone else around them is having burgers at a family BBQ

  • @TheHealthyChannel Hmm! Try making your own simple patties out of lentils, wholemeal flour, and wholemeal breadcrumbs, chopped onion and dried parsley. There are quite a few easy to follow vegie burger tutorials on YouTube. It's lots of fun. You can use an egg to bind the burger more, but it's not absolutely necessary. Just make sure it's compressed firmly, and then seal the surface of the patty with heat and olive oil. Lots of spicy combinations are possible. Add ground almonds or hazelnut too!

  • @TheHealthyChannel Ah, I see! Good for you. Eating fries once in a while won't ruin your diet. Although vegainism is probably an excellent way to lose weight, there are pitfalls here too, like fries, crisps, candy and sugar in liquid form, whether it is soda or fruit juices.

  • @TheHealthyChannel The potato taste of the veggie burger is from the water chestnuts in it, that the main ingredient in those.

  • @prophetchannel obviously what your saying is true but you are looking over something crucial. someone has big as happy cabbie is used to eating portions even bigger than that most likely. if he reduces calories too much too fast its very likely that he will never sick with anything because it will be too drastic.

  • @Grace88Anderson Yeah, you are right. I overlooked the fact that a large body metabolizes much more energy, so weight loss should be progressive according to your size. I am dieting myself, but I'm already skinny and trying to get the summer six-pack, which is already starting to show. I obviously have to have a stricter diet than most, though I never starve myself. You never have to go hungry to lose weight, just eat smaller meals more often, and avoid the obvious traps like soda. Works for me!

  • @prophetchannel Actually, diet sodas are far more dangerous to your health than regular soda. Yeah, sure, regular soda has empty calories, sugar, and HFCS (not all do, but most), but diet soda uses artificial sweetners... the most famous of them all being aspartame. Please take heed of my advice, and google up what aspartame is. Essentially, when you leave aspartame out in room temperature for a certain length of time, it turns into a wood alcohol, which is EXTREMELY poisonous to the body.

  • @prophetchannel Long term consumption of these diet soda products, along with other diet/sugar-free drinks and foods can cause devastating damages to one's health up to but not necessarily including; MS, ALS, dementia or alzheimer's (which would be worse because your brain is literally shrinking), hormonal problems, hearing/vision loss, epilepsy, parkinson's disease, migranes (my dad was having them when he used to drink diet sodas), brain lesions, and other neuroendocrine disorders.

  • @JediTat Can you please cite your sources? Not from some vegan, LFHC, or similar website, but from pub-med. Meta-studies would be preferred. I am undecided on the issue myself, but I have the feeling that objections against diet soda stems from the anglo-saxon puritan ethic of "if it tastes good, it is bad for you", or "you can't have your cake and eat it too", or the "natural vs. artificial"-dichotomy. It seems quite commonsense to believe so, but science is not necessarily common sense.

  • Well if those are the only sources that you're willing to accept, then what would be the point of me even trying to show you where I learned all of this? I'll go to those websites and do a little research, and when I find the source that supports my argument, then I'll gladly post it. But besides the point, there's no such thing as naturally "fat free" or naturally "sugar free." There just isn't. Products with these labels have been known for the longest time now to be potentially hazardous.

  • @JediTat Those were only examples of the types of sources I would accept; from people who can back up their claims with science. But it might be wise to err on the side of caution, as the experts have conflicting opinions. I agree with you on the meat-issue though. Eating excessive amounts of meat is absolutely not healthy. I am not a vegan, but I prioritize my diet in this order (in volume, not calories): Vegetables, grains, fish, fruit, other meats, dairy. Classic food pyramid ftw!

  • @prophetchannel how come early man survived then????

  • @ezmereldagreenThe reproductive age starts around 10-12. Even if you live in a society where everybody died before they are 25, they could still survive as a species. Most people would die from wounds, fevers, infections, starvation, floods, droughts, tribal warfare. etc. before they even entered the age where lifestyle diseases was an option. Furthermore they had an extremely high activity levels, and a diet with more meat, and veggies, less salt, no refined fat, carbs and sugar and no tobacco.

  • @prophetchannel Not to mention, drinking diet sodas is even more potentially dangerous to someone with type 2 diabetes, which Cabbie could possible have from being overweight.

So having said all that, unsweetened fruit juice or water would actually be the way to go. Unsweetened and sugar-free are two different terms to the FDA. Oranges, like any fruit, are already sweet without needing sugar because fruit has natural glucose, which is REAL energy that your body can naturally break down.

  • @prophetchannel

    dont listen to this idiot

    wow

    suggesting to drink diet soda

    wow

eat 4000 cals a day, lots of meat, cut down on carbs, stop eating sugar and do mark rippetoes starting strength

this will make you a muscles beast and not a skinny nerd like this guy

  • @MarkQP There might be health risks attached to artificial sweeteners, but it is not well established scientifically. However, it is undisputed that diet soda has less calories than sugary ones. It might be better to err on the side of caution though, and avoid soda altogether. So you are right, promoting diet soda might be a bad idea as a general health tip. But my comment was fairly specifically about weight-loss. I hope this might clarify my position.

  • Comment removed

  • @MarkQP Well, that depends on what your goals are. Happie cabbie has expressed in other videos that his main goals are to lose weight and become healthy. People who live long and are healthy, are not necessarily strong (or women would live shorter lives than men). Of course, strength is important for avoiding back problems and such, but the main causes of death are prevented best by a healthy weigh, cardio excersise, a balanced diet, moderate alcohol intake, and not smoking.

  • @prophetchannel

yea sorry for not really reading your comment before commenting

    thats true

  • @prophetchannel Little Calorie intake = No energy. Remember, it's calories in, calories out. Consuming drinks and foods that are lesser in calories is not going to make much of difference in improving weight, muscle tone, and over all health if you don't have the energy to work-out and exercise, which is the biggest key to losing weight and building muscle, not just eating healthy.

  • @JediTat Less calories is definitely going to help losing weight, but not necessarily improving overall health. as you will lose weight if you consume less than you expend, even if the body goes into starvation mode. But starving yourself is not healthy at all, and it might make you binge later. Of course you should adjust calorie intake according to level of activity. The best way to do this is simply not allowing yourself to be hungry, for example by eating a banana between meals.

  • @MarkQP Who exactly is the idiot here??? I'm not the one suggesting diet soda, he is. I'm against it.

Lots of meat = high cholesterol = heart attack or stroke. Eating meat isn't necessarily "bad" for you, but excessive amounts of it without a balance of carbs (complex carbs are the key here, not simple carbs like white rice, white bread, or pasta) isn't healthy. Do you want to know why Dr. Atkins died? He died because he thought it would be a good and healthy idea to be a pound of bacon.

  • @JediTat

yea i used the wrong words for that comment

i ment eat more meat like 3 chicken breasts/pieces of beef in a day

not like 80% meat or some crap

and then the rest just eat oatmeal, fruits, almonds, cottage cheese, whole milk, peanut butter and whey

    IDK

  • @MarkQP Oh okay. At first I was like WTF, no way. lol I'm personally a vegetarian, but that makes a little more sense.

  • @JediTat dyou know why dr atkins died????HE FELL OVER ON ICE AND HIT HIS HEAD ...he was 72 for chrissake and yes he had had a heart attack earlier but there was no evidence it was caused by his diet....his arteries were clear so stop spreading bullshit....

  • Comment removed

  • @ezmereldagreen Heartattacks are generally caused by diet, and no, it's not always caused by having high cholesterol or clogged arteries. Type 2 diabetics are at risk for having a heartattack, and having high blood pressure can also put you at risk. And high blood pressure is a common problem with someone over the age of 65, so why in the hell would he think it would be a good idea to eat that much freakin bacon? Processed meat = a shit load of sodium = extremely high blood pressure.

  • @ezmereldagreen And how do you know that hitting his head and his age was the only contributing factor? How do you know that he wasn't also having a stroke?

But besides the point, the Atkins diet is not exactly the smartest diet fad. In fact, it's potentially dangerous. All protein, no carbs? Oh yeah, people were loosing weight, and very rapidly, but they were also having dental problems, losing their hair, getting sick more easily, had very little energy... case in point, you need carbs.

  • @JediTat there are carbs in proteins .....the fact that so many people in the poverty section of society are overweight proves that a high carb diet makes you fat ....the atkins diet only stops severely limits carbs in the first couple of weeks and then balances out once weight loss is attained....ive found it a great way to keep my weight in check and it certainly stops you craving sugar and starches...ive found no evidence for people having the problems you describe and i have far more energy

  • @JediTat on the atkins...have you tried it ? probably not... whatabout what early man ate and what tribal people today eat?/ you can read about dr atkins and all his health issues if you search around enough to make an informed decision...humans have canine meat eating teeth,,,we would not be where we are if only ate grain and veg

  • @ezmereldagreen So is that what this is about? You think I'm arguing with you about this because you eat meat? That has nothing to do with my argument. Yes, I am a vegetarian, but I don't hold grudges against people for their diet choices... I just don't agree with the diet fad (or any diet fad for that matter) of ALL MEAT, and absolutely no grains. Grains are a complex carb, WHICH YOU NEED. Complex carbs don't make you fat. Simple carbs do, like white rice, white bread, white pasta, etc.

  • @ezmereldagreen And by the way, I was talking about PROCESSED meats, not meat in general; hot dogs, bacon, sausages, bratwurst, lunch/deli meat, etc.

  • @prophetchannel fries can be baked

  • Looks delicious!

I usualy make the burgers myself. Way cheaper since veggy burgers are quite expensive over here, and you can vary ingredient/taste.

But takes more time than frozen ones. ;-)

  • Could you do more of this? I enjoyed the video

  • Great video H.C, looking forward to more!

  • Wow, that music was sooo mid 90's weather channel or something. Heh. Great vid though. Any healthy good recipes I can find, the better. Cheers.

  • If you are Vegan (like me) those veggie burgers and cheese are indeed veggie but not Vegan as it has milk as an ingredient just thought I would pass on the message someone gave to me, I used to eat them every now and then. Good video, we want more.

  • I'm a microwave person. I won't even touch a stove. Sad, I know. Thanks for this. I have yet to try veggie burgers. :D

  • @fruitikay veggie burgers can cook just fine in the microwave

  • Looks good!

  • TOAST THOSE BUNS!!!

  • I also think you should show actual cooking...not just heating up frozen food :P

  • nice. cheers

    ¦:¬]

  • you are so cute

more cooking shows would be fun

also you can seltzer to your OJ for that fizzy soda sensation!

  • how about a couscous salad next? with instant couscous it's easy to make and pretty much everybody like couscous salad

  • Also, one more thing I should add - Morningstar Farms makes AWESOME corn dogs. Tastes just like meat ones!

  • I counted 1092 / 290 in the meal presented at the beginning since there were TWO veggie burgers in the photo. :P

  • @realman1000000000000 even with two veggie burgers we still have less calories and fat than one whopper combo from Burger king

  • wait...they're just packet burgers =(

Cabbie I want to see your beautiful cooking from scratch!!!

This is a serious suggestion! Start a cooking series.

And if you cannot cook, all the more entertainment for us.

    PLEASE.

  • Love me some calcium fortified orange juice.

  • I see you there, showing off your buns.

  • Are you using a metal spatula on a teflon pan?

  • This is how I make a veggie burger.

Cook two 1/4 lb all beef patties and three to six strips of thick cut apple wood bacon. throw some lettuce tomato and onion on em and put em between two buns with some cheese ketchup and mayo. Now you have a delicious perfect veggie burger.

  • I like those

  • Do you ever make yourself burgers out of Portabella mushrooms? Those are the bomb ass! I love that soy cheese. It's a lot leaner than regular cheese too.

  • vegeterians for the win!!:D

  • I thought you were going to make the veggie burgers from scratch, LOL. I love veggie burgers and the soy cheese you used. I do microwave mine to save on calories. Loved the container of frozen fries too. You heat up and assemble well. That is usually the way I cook too. Loved the video. Please make more.

  • Boca burgers are the shiz! I was thinking about doing this myself. Good vid :-)

  • Cool beans

  • Boca Grillers are pretty good, they have a grilled taste. Yes, make more cooking videos. I want to see you make some whole foods that do not come out of a box--maybe a bag :-D, More unprocessed fruits and vegetables. Check out Dave the Raww Food Trucker on youtube.

  • Nice cooking video cabbie, make sure to do more videos.

  • oh you know what i do with those fries that you cook in the oven or on the stove, steak fries or any of those fries? You can just take those and put them in the microwave. They aren't crunchy but they are still good. So if they are cheaper you can just use those.

  • Cool vid. you should do more, Also where did you get that youtube cup?

  • Also, I'd love to know what that vegan cheese tastes like. Is it as good as regular cheese?

  • in all honesty i have problems with cheese in general. dairy products gross me out half the time anyway so it's probably not just the soy idea that's grossing me out.

  • The Morningstar Farms ones you made are a little less meat tasting as other brand of veggie burgers... I really really like Gardenburgers and the Boca patties. But excellent video nonetheless, that looks tasty :O

Also nice intro music, I feel like I'm watching a cooking show on PBS :D Would love to see more cooking videos in the future!

  • everything there looks good except for that cheese. yack! I love those veggie burgers but i like the ones by publix brand the best.

  • Love the intro music, Brilliant!!!
