it's a classic! and ginsberg's work is is world class, no doubt about it. he was a being of light. when i was 16 my english teacher took us to see him doing a solo reading. he was grumpy with the audience that night, but truly a wonderful poet.
You video is funny. Allen Ginsberg used to visit his friend John Fitzgerald on Clinton Avenue in Poughkeepsie. When I was young I did not like beatnik Poetry or writing because I had already read alot of Ezra Pound and James Joyce.
i enjoyed joyce and the beats a lot in my youth, studied both the americans and the irish ex-pat in some depth. i didnt see any conflict of interest really no either or about it for, i really appreciated joyce and love many other modern writers. pound is a toughie, i'm not as familiar w/ him but surely he's worth the effort, like shakespeare. one great writer or genre has never precluded or cancelled out any others for me... when it comes to literature, i guess you could say i'm an omnivore.
lol! Holy cow! Check out the Ballad of American Skeletons read by Ginsberg and Sir Paul McCartney :D It's cool but deffinately not Holy ;) Happy Holidays!
