how about some Jane Austen movies?! i hope, you know Jane Austen?! if not, google her! ^^ she wrote six books and all have been filmed several times, also from BBC! like her most famous one "Pride & Prejudice"! or "Sense & Sensibility", "Emma", "Mansfield Park", "Northanger Abbey" and "Persuasion". the time from her books/movies is a bit earlier than "North and South", but they're great!! and romantic, indeed! ^^

I didn't watch N&S when it was on the TV - i bought the DVD recently as my daughter is doing the book at school. However, if i had seen this trailer earlier i would have bought the DVD sooner! Well done, Polestar00 - the BBC really ought to employ you!

I love this story because my g.g.g grandfather was a wealthy manufacturer midlands/northern born who married a newly destitute 'southerner' in nearly the same time period.I think this story was probably a common occurence... and even now with the north becoming richer and richer by the day.
