@persebra ,...Yes that's true ..Copenhagen is one of the most safe cities in the world , ppl don t need to lock up their bikes ...coz nobody stole ur bike ...it is a real model for all cities who should learn from the Danish model , in north America unfortubately we have to lock up our bikes if not , somebody will stole it .
@musicfan28 Aehh... sadly that's not completely true :(
I Live in copenhagen, and if i don't lock my bike it will get stolen for shure! Lost one just this month! The difference is that you can buy a new one for about 500$ and be right back on track just like that :)
@persebra , As Jesus45u said, he has a quick lock (sometimes called a o-lock or frame lock). I have the same thing on my bike, but still choose to use a u-lock so the front tire and frame are locked to something. Quick locks are great for running into the market for something real quick!
Indians have been cycling a lot since ages...still, very unfortunate, that , separate cycle lanes are yet to come...But, very happy that until today, the fellow commuters in Bus or other modes are quite friendly except a few idiots...Still, though, I strongly desire for ALL to get on to bikes rather than Cars and Motorbikes polluting - noise, heat (moving heat and AC condensor heat and engine heat), traffic congestion, stress, parking, body heat due to AC,stress sitting, time..list is too long..
I find it so weird how everyone just leaves their bike unlocked and sitting there. I live in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, if you have a bike, you lock it up, there really isn't a lot of bike security in Winnipeg because not to many people ride bikes because of our longer winters that tend to be quite cold, and there really aren't any good bike paths, there trying to put more in with new rapid transit and other things, but their not too many. I just can't really see how people can take it for granted
Riding in Los Angeles is killer. Motorists constantly honk at you, you're always having to worry about people in parked cars opening their door on you, and moving around a wide-spread city without utilizing the freeway. Again, it's pretty killer (and not in a good way). All of this attributes to my desire to live in Copenhagen after I graduate from university.
but you have 10 lane city roads LOL I remember being there in 1989 and those wide roads were so empty you could make a 180 degree turn every minute without crashing Now try to do that today in Moscow
I live in Puerto Rico and we don't have many bike lanes. We have trails but they are just that trails they are far off from the city.

This is a model of how all cities and towns should approach bicycling.
A real form of transport.
In Australia we are full of redneck backward idiots..

Ps, when I say cold, it's cold. Weird thing because our summers can be really hot around or more than 30c (just a fact)!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
but why are the bikes so lame in Denmark? They are so old fashioned and people are stupid enough not to wear helmets.

Copenhagen benefits from being super flat. There are virtually no hills in the city which makes cycling anywhere ideal.

Great series. Although greater copenhagen has 1.7 million people - not 500,000 - and the number of daily cyclists is 550,000 in all.
