about performance - it depends on firmware - with the latest opensource driver it should get better. I guess you used openwrt.with ath9k driver which is quiet stable but still under heavy developement

what speeds dose the TL-WR1043ND go in wireless 11n ? in megabytes (real meagbytes not what is on the box, like 300Mbits :P) ...
