dubai is a great place to vacation as long as you don't mind being ruled by Islamic law while your there -- gang rape for women who don't dress like they are supposed to, mutilation for petty theft, death for discussing a religion other than Islam, months in jail for public nudity, years in prison for adultery, prison or death for homosexual acts. Other than that -- wow, what a place.

im not gonna lie, its an amazing city, but its built on the backs of abused workers brought to the country under false pretenses and forced to work under horrible conditions. ive seen un-air conditioned apartments (in desert heat) filled with 6 or 7 south asian immigrants who weren't even paid enough money to give themselves a quality of life, much less send money back to their families at home. until they stop that shit, i have no respect for this culture.
