  • whats the operating cost?

  • I have no idea. I never asked. I imagine its close to a WWII warbird, a lot!

  • This is a true turbojet engine, which means it burns a lot more fuel than a WWII piston warbird. I bet the operating cost is a lot more.

  • @ggreen85

Everything except for fuel is cheaper. But, then again, some of those big radials guzzle gas, too. The L-29 is comparable to a Texan, IMO.

  • @MMFineArts L-29 is actually one of the cheaper birds. The acquisition cost is actually comparable to a new car. It's not too much in the other aspects save for fuel, jets swill gas down. But, in many cases it's cheaper than an AT-6.

  • @mmurray48162 20 minutes of flight cost about USD 800 in Czech republic.

  • Thise planes wasnt build for speed you ......s! Its been designed for battle over Czechoslovakia, which was rather small country and russian fast unmanouvrable jets wasnt able to do so..! Its Czech plane Aero Vodochody, as same as L-59,L-39,L-139/159.. dont f.ucking laugh.. you.. we built radar which was as only one in the world detect your f.unky a.ss stealth technology planes.. and now your marines will using TATRA vehicles.. we had tramways in years when you was riding horses/eating beans..

  • Wow, easy. No one is saying bad things about it. I think it's a testament to the designer that they are still flying and can be privately owned and operated. A crew chief for the F-15 couldn't believe it was privately owned because for every hour the F-15 flies it needs about 7 hours of maintenance. I saw a couple at the Reno Air Races this year.

  • sorry, i was little bit harsh, but there is so many people who dropping their remarks and doesnt know nothing about the subject.. they still claim everything was russian, and everyone was speaking russian, and end of story.. thats why i am a bit sensitive.. :)

  • @TheVeneth

Dude you need to get back on your meds!

  • @lanebmw really? do you have anything concrete to say? or just blabing some bullshit about medication that you are behind with? ..you know.. there is a problem with people like you.. people like you seems to have troubles with memory..

  • @TheVeneth hahahah.....dude you really take all this very serious don`t you. Maybe you need to re-read your post from year ago. You are ranting and raving. Its a good little plane but its not a fighter or attack plane its a trainer.....no big deal. I like the plane and consider buying one a few years ago....well for about what a bmw would cost Just did not want to go through all the LOA business so I dropped it. O, yea...I take no meds.....well maybe a little.....wine. lol

  • @lanebmw whatever..

  • Dave said there was a screw jack that operates the start sequence?

  • There is the electronic starer control located under the Turbine Oil sump. The sequence is....After pushing the start button, the starter motor starts to turn the turbine (200amps), after 5 seconds the igniters start, alternating clicking sound between the burner cans,

  • Did you work on these jets?

  • The click, click, click is the igniters going off, he hit the start button.

  • Sounds funny. The startup is a mechanical series of valves and switches.

  • Is this the Jet that crashed and burned at the airshow near Portland Oregon?

  • No, Dave tells me this jet is in Wisconsin.

  • whats the fuel burn?

  • burns 150 gallons per hour, and cruises @ 290 knots @ 16,000 ft. Fuel capacity is 270 gallons in the main tank, 80 gallons in the pylon tanks.

  • I flew this plane 30 years ago as a military pilot...nice to see it here. I'm moved...

  • Wow! Thanks for writing. You must have some good stories to tell. When Dave was working in the cockpit he dropped a tool, reached under the front seat and triggered something that went CLICK CLICK CLICK...He thought it was the ejection seat so he dove out onto the ground. I think it was the seat separation timer or the parachute timer. I believe he has sold it, I'll find out this weekend.

  • well, such things were always handled by our technicians....

I just remember that I was able to see a lot of small things from the underneath of the seat which were flying around the cockpit when I was doing acrobatic manoeuvres (mainly uplifting dead flies and dust :-).

Concerning the ejection seat - we had to pass a training on the simulator (10 meters high ramp with an ejection seat). I still remember the checklist.

I wonder how you can deal with these complex things by your own.

    Congrats!

  • sell me the jet !?

  • what is the name of this song?

  • The helmets were replaced shortly after this video, they came with the jet. The music is production music, I buy a few songs at a time for my video business at about $30 to $60 each, but I get a license to use them to make money.

  • The music is from a production music company, I buy the songs for my video business for $30 to $60 and I get a license to use them. Its not a song anyone would ever hear on the radio.

  • fuck a nice plane but the helmet shows me what they are, .... all but for sure no jet pilots! this helmet is good for cutting trees in the yard....damm jokers. otherwise good musik

  • can i take a flight with you :P cool video

  • Way cool, Mark!

    Karen

  • You know, the gentleman who flies out with Dave in this video never got a copy of this video. If Dave remembers who he is I can put it on DVD for him.

    Mark

  • I'll find out...KM

  • Czech plane in the U.S., thats great!

  • I think there are lots of them. Dave races L-39's at Reno. Check out davemorss dot com to see.

  • You just cannot beat the sound of a M-701C starting up. Excellent video!

  • A friend of mine has a radio control jet, centrifugal compressor and axial turbine just like this engine and they sound the same!

  • Really? Do you have any idea what model the engine is called? Id love to see a video of that sucker starting up.

  • Not sure but i think most of them are built that way

  • but you have to be trained by air force before be able to fly this kind of aircraft or what?

    i mean..can anyone pilot this aircraft?please answer..

    thank you.

  • A private pilot can fly a jet. You need a type rating and 1000 hours total time. KM

  • great video thxs bro

  • Your Welcome, thanks for the comment. Hanging with Dave is an adventure. Check out another Dave adventure "The AT-11 Adventure with the Blue Angels b". Everyone thinks we were crazy but I would jump right back on that plane and do it again!

  • great video... wonderful.. watched the whole thing...

  • wery nice video :-)

  • Thanks for the comment. Any time I do something with Dave (jet owner) cool things happen, like when I flew from San Francisco to Portland Oregon and we were asked to find a plane lost above the clouds. Check out part 2.
