@1ard That's what I'm working on for my model right now. I still have some experimenting to do, but I think if you use 2-3 vertex groups and particle systems (one for what's tied back, one for the actual ponytail, and a third for optional bangs or other pieces that would be hanging down), then put it all under one material, you should be ok.
Once I start brushing the hair, the emission and other fields become grayed out. Even undo won't bring them back.Do you know a way to reset the hair, so you can go back to changing the velocity without having to re-create the entire particle system?

@kosarock it's still there, just set to "transparent". it'll still show up in the render. in any case, if it is still hidden, it's only hidden from the edit mode view; once you come back into object mode, anything hidden shows up again.
Great Video again, man I can't wait until I get to create hair XD going to give my model an orginal look. Also out of curiosity will you also be making the body as well or Is this just from the chest up?
@goku21060 this will just be the chest up. using what you learn from this, you can combine the knowledge with the original series to be able to create a whole character :)

i think you forgot to unhide the specular layer for eyeballs. correct me if i'm wrong.
