  • Where's the rest of the piece? I liked your ornaments, but you could be a bit freer. Sweelinck's style was identical to the English virginalists, who in turn owe much to the lute. Think of lutes.

  • You are right! I'll see if I can record the whole piece:)

  • Mooi gespeeld deze fijne muziek van Sweelinck. Ligt een beetje in de buurt van John Dowland (vroeger veel gezongen met mijn kamerkoor "I Madrigalisti").

  • nice dutch spirit! thanks for share

  • You're most welcome!

  • Of the harpsichord music of Sweelinck's I've heard, I've been disappointed; it always seems too clunky and syncopated for my tastes. I prefer Frescobaldi.

Well played, nonetheless. Get some dynamic camera angles and the presentation would be even better. :)

  • Frescobaldi gives you a bunch of notes to actually play with. You can mend and shape it all you like, smooth over here, agressive spirit over there, all in good taste. With Sweelinck it is extreme difficult. Always a challenge to find an interpretation that fits.

  • Have you heard ernststolz beautifull version? It has more flow, less 'cluncky' :)
