I eat fufu, but in the uk my mum prepares it differently. She uses farina & mash potatoe powder and cooks it on the gas cooker with water.

@MiriamAfriyie it's not unripened plantains. It's boiled yam. This is iyan (pounded yam) but ppl call all forms of starchy african foods "Fufu", so the confusion. There is the stove version iyan that is sold in dry powder form, but nothing tastes like the original pounded yam

@BongoGhana No, I don't think I have ever gone to Africa, and I don't plan on it. See, most of the times when I travel, I think of a great place to go! The Eiffel Tower, The Great Wall of China, Tokyo, various places that are famous. I can't really think of any in Africa...

I travel too and I don't see what is so beautiful about seeing a tower with people going up a elevator and looking down or eating up there. Or what is so great about seen a wall that to me is a big madah long tall fence. U see what the rass mih mean? I would probably enjoy seeing the river in Ghana, tasting their food, seen them dance and even learning to dance like them.

@L0V3K1D chewing or swallowing depends on ur ethnic tribe.like where my grand father comes from in cameroun,they swallow and use just one finger to eat and the ethese ethnic tribe is known as the coastal bantu while there is an ethnic tribe in thesame cameroon that chews.thwy call them the tikaris and bamileke

no u dont normally prepare it with powder. this is the real way to make fufu (at least in ghana! ...i ve heard nigerians dont add plantain, they use only cassava?!)

That' s very weird..normally you make it with hot water and some kind of wouden spoon..and you can ad some fecule on it..(white patato powder)..to make it a little bit hard..
