seriously if i could get the tabs to this song my life would be complete so if theres...anyone...out there...who knows or could make tabs to this song...p-please...HELP ME!
You can just feel the Old Ones coming for you in the beat of the guitar riff and in the credits it works GREAT to the rhythm of the printing press for the book itself.
@sandiismyname Well, I thought it sounded an awful lot like Don't Fear the Reaper and Gobiln's track Lesbo, from the film Tenebre, but I still love it in it's own right.
Carpenter will always be THE king of horror and the offbeat genre picture. I mean fuck: Assault On Precinct 13, Halloween, The Fog, The Thing, Escape From New York, They Live, Big Trouble In Little China, Christine, Starman, In the Mouth of Madness, Prince of Darkness, Vampires......Either all are considered genuine classics or have a devout cult following. The man is a damn legend.
This movIe ROCKS! CRITICS DON'T KNOW SHEEYIT....YEAH...SOME OF IT WAS CLICHE'D...BUT SAM NEILL WAS GREAT, AND CINEMATOGRAPHY WAS EXCELLENT..I FEEL BAD FOR CARPENTER..SUCH A GREAT DIRECTOR..SHAME HIS FILMS HAVE RELEASING PROBS....THIS FILM WAS ONE OF HIS BEST...I got the opportunity to visit the Escape from LA set, he took time out to talk ..was so nice and supportive of my career.. Rock on, John Trent!
If you like John Carpenter's scores check out my channel. I made a concept record that involves deconstructing Carpenter's scores and remixing Lil Waynes tracks with the deconstructed scores. It is super dark and heavy.
@TheAltair4 No I don't, "Big Trouble in Little China" is one of my favourite movies but for sentimental reasons. In terms of cinematic value "The thing" and "In the mounth of madness" are the most acomplised works of Carpenter.
It is a fantastic movie, quite underrated but a brilliant work of horror-fantasy inspired by Lovecraft. Saw it in theaters at 13 and loved it, Carpenter has been one of my faves.
@Johnlindsey289 I loved it from the humid horrible cloudy-skied apocalyptic day I saw it's limited London release in 1995. After leaving the theatre, I had terrible headaches and an interest in H.P. Lovecraft over my academic or career interests. Depression and madness really set in. Blue really was, is and will be my favourite colour.
@wandererlain I don´t know the movie. However, I found it on Youtube and yes, it is similar. I think this composition is not as good as Halloween Prince of Darkness or They Live theme.
Yes I agree, the beginning shares similar tune to Dario Argento's Tenebrae, the track Lesbos. The reason for this I'm sure is even noted by John Carpenter that Argento's films have absolutely contributed to his work. I imagine he loved the tune and reworked it, i love this track!
"in the mouth of madness, down in the darkness, im demon speeding , no more tomorrow, down in a hollow" -"demon speeding" by rob zombie. btw Any body know if this movie in vid was really worth watching?
@gimpyguitarist at 0:20 I recalled about this song. It's like 4 notes from the intro or something very familiar just before the fast guitar playing at 0:24
who is the 1 dumbshit who voted down on this? the movie and music are amazingly awesome! john carpenter, sam neil, lovecraftian themes, how can you go wrong? and the music omg...
jusr use the free "youtube mp3 dowloader", its a site where you put in the page URL and it tears the mp3 from the video and lets you downlaod it, i use it all the time! ;D
Hi Mark, the guitars sound real because they actually are. Dave Davies from The Kinks collaborated with Carpenter on the score, as well as playing guitar on it.
I just watched this movie and I liked it very much. I love this kind of horror movies (true classics) without too serious story. It must have good acting, music, pictures but deeper emotions and stories are reserved for horror books, this is how I regard books and movies !
true true...You know , same thing with horror games for example (it's based on story also, music is very important but graphic have nothing to do!). If we look at the ending and what happened to John, we got really scary thoughts - and that's great ;)
An under-rated classic as well. Most people don't even understand that it serves as social commentary with the premise of people turning into monsters from reading books.
Yes Spike9904 well put. I'm a bit shocked how many people actually think this movie is pathetic or unlogical. In my opinion it's a true horror classic.
View this movie with the knowledge of memes (memetics), symbology, information theory, game theory, and ancestor theory - and it becomes a far more frightening film than it already is.
John Carpenter himself once remarked that he used campiness to veil the true profundity of this film, to hide its real horrors behind veils of cartoonish allusions,..
I watch this every new year, about the first week of January - and it just keeps becoming more and more scary, and the metaphors more real,..
I really like this song. Carpenter's movies had some of the best music. I think this particular track was played over video of a book being published.
